Andrea takes such good care of our dogs - we just got back from a four day trip- Andrea sent us pictures and updates everyday on the dogs. I think they will miss her, so I feel bad for them now! As well as being great with the animals, she is very respectful of our home. Thanks again, Andrea! We are so glad we found you!

Thank you, Holly for your service in watching Ryder and being with him. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I loved the pictures you sent from the trips you made to the park. My brother said rides in the car are what he lives for. I appreciate your efforts to entertain him. It helps so much to be relieved knowing there is someone there for him. He gets lonely so easily.

Olivia did an amazing job taking care of our four pups, which includes a senior French bulldog, two very sweet, but very large and powerful Dogo Argentinos, and a second, very mischievous escape artist French bulldog. She took time to understand each dog’s unique personality and tailors her care to each. She was also extremely communicative, and sent us pics multiple times a day. Highly recommend!

Evan watched our pup on short notice, and we were super happy with how everything went. We were away for the weekend and came home to a happy dog and a clean house. Our dog needs extra attention on walks due to reactivity and also has specific feeding instructions, and Evan was incredibly accommodating with all of it. He even came over for an in-person visit beforehand, and it was clear how conscientious he is and how important it was to him to make sure he was a good fit for our dog. That built a lot of trust for us. He also sent photos and updates over the weekend was very rad. We’d definitely use him again, and plan to next time a trip comes up. 5/5 recommend.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Rithy! She is timely, communicative and treats your pet like they’re her own. This was my first time using Rover and I feel lucky to have found Rithy. She stayed with Clover for the weekend, texted me photos of their adventures, and she made homemade food for Clover! I think they both had a great weekend together.

I recently had the pleasure of having Erik take care of my energetic duo, Beau and Jet, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the exceptional service he provided. From the moment I met Erik, I knew my fur babies were in good hands. Erik went above and beyond in every aspect of pet sitting. He not only ensured that Beau and Jet were well-fed and content, but he also took the time to engage with them, providing playtime that kept their spirits high. One of the highlights of Erik’s service was the beautiful photos he captured of Beau and Jet. Erik’s communication skills were outstanding. He regularly sent me updates on Beau and Jet, reassuring me of their happiness and safety. This level of communication not only put my mind at ease but also demonstrated his professionalism and is top choice for pet owners seeking peace of mind while they are away Thank you, Erik, for your outstanding care of Beau and Jet. You truly are a gem in the world of pet sitting!

We highly recommend Lauren to watch your fur baby. We initially reached out to Lauren to see if she could watch our sweet old girl (19 y.o. dog); she responded within 15 minutes confirming that she was available. A few days before, Lauren stopped by our apartment to receive our key and meet our pup. She brought a notebook to write down all instructions / important notes. Her demeaning was soft and positive, and already we knew she was a great fit. On the day of our leave, Lauren was in regular correspondence about her timing and about activities with our girl. She took a few picture updates. Everything went very smooth. She clearly had no problem watching our elderly dog. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to watch your loved one fur pup, elderly or otherwise.

About: I’ve taken care of animals since I was very young. I enjoy spending time with them, doing everything from playing, to walking, to lounging on the couch! I work full time with a relatively flexible schedule and the occasional work from home day. I am available on weekends and weekdays after work. I have one cat at home who is very friendly, but shy! He will likely stay under my bed and out of the way while your pet is in my home. I can also crate your baby if necessary and spoil them with treats and snuggles.

We are so happy that we found Ashley. She was wonderful and took such good care of our two cats, two dogs (one with high anxiety) and chatty cockatiel. We received daily updates with pictures and were able to relax and enjoy our time away without worrying. We highly recommend Ashley and we hope she wants to come back again.

Annalisa is a warm, responsible, reliable sitter who provided excellent care for our home and dog. We felt totally comfortable leaving Daisy in her care, and Daisy became so fond of her that she hated to see her go. We would certainly hire Annalisa again, and we highly recommend her to others in West Sonoma.

FAQs for House Sitting - Valley Ford

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 954 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Valley Ford. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Valley Ford walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Valley Ford maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Valley Ford choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Valley Ford. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
