“We absolutely love having Katina be our dogs' boarder. She is so sweet with the animals, sends pictures/videos when we've requested them, and the dogs don't want to leave! Her set up is amazing for all of the animals as well, and the other dogs that come to her house are so nice.”

“I did a lot of homework and reviewing of boarders for my 1.5-year-old, 70 lb. Aussie/golden before landing on Robin because of her amazing reviews and years of experience. We had just had a terrible board and train situation leaving him with some pressure sores and anxiety. I am so glad I chose Robin though. She allowed me to come out a month before booking to see her facilities, get to know me and my pup, and to explain how his days would be going. Ollie looked so incredibly comfortable around her then I started calling our vacation his summer camp. She sent pictures almost daily of Ollie running around and playing with other pups. He came back to me 5 lb. lighter than before because of it (he needed it!) and I can also tell that she kept up with his training that we have been working on which I greatly appreciated. He actually looked disappointed to go home! We will of course be back and will tell everyone we know who needs a boarder! Thank you, Robin!”

“Hello! We really enjoyed meeting Jesse and Emily, they are warm and attentive. We really appreciated their wonderful care of our dog Lucy, how they accommodated us for an hour extra day and will definitely call them again! Caroline L.”

“Always great! Our dog loves going to stay here and we never have to worry about him because they’re so responsive and knowledgeable. Great people with a great set up for your loved one(s).”

“Danielle took my last minute request to board Luna at her house. She was an AMAZING sitter. When we met her (since this was our first time meeting) she had a pen and paper ready to write down what Luna needed. Throughout her stay, Danielle sent lots of adorable pictures of play time and it made me feel at peace knowing Luna was in good hands. Her messages provided lots of updates with how Luna was doing and any pet who has her as a sitter is blessed to have found her!”

“Julie and her family took wonderful care of Willa! She got to go on plenty of walks and enjoyed lots of snuggles. Julie sent pictures and was easy to communicate with. Willa came home happy and we will definitely book with her again!”

“Our family was going through a really tough time and Nadia came to our rescue! She treated our puppy like her baby and provided updates and pictures multiple times a day which made us feel so safe and secure. She even made scarves and necklaces for our sweet pup and made her feel like a princess. We had an issue come up where we needed to schedule extra days and she was so kind and accommodating. Our puppy was so sad to leave her. I’d recommend Nadia to anybody and everybody and I can’t wait to be able to book with her again in the future. She’s now my puppy’s godmother😅 and she’ll always be my go-to.”

About: Having had dogs and cats my entire life, I am well prepared to take care of your furry friend. Having had a dog with severe allergies, I am also prepared to take care of any pets with chronic health conditions that require more attention As a medical student in a hybrid learning environment, I have a flexible schedule that provides me the time to tend to your pets as needed. Caring for my own dog, your pet can fit seamlessly into our schedule for walks, bathroom breaks, and play time. I take all pets on several walks a day, providing them ample time to exercise and play outside. In caring for my clients home, I will make sure their pet abides by all house rules and maintain a clean living space for their home.
“Alexandra and Logan were wonderful with my (sometimes overly) curious terrier, Eddie! I am always concerned about Eddie escaping to chase an animal, and they took my concerns seriously and took steps to ensure that wouldn't happen. Their fence setup was great too - the fenced-in yard wraps all the way around the house, so even if a dog slipped out of the house, they would still be in the yard. On top of that, they sent lots of pictures and were so kind to Eddie. He didn't want to leave!”

“Amy took care of our pup, Oscar, for The first time this week. We seldom board him. But after doing a meet and greet with Amy, we all felt good about boarding him for a couple of nights while we traveled. Amy too great care of Oscar and he seemed to fit in well with her pups and her cat. We heartily recommend Amy. So does Oscar.”

“Nathan took good care of our lab, Lola and the communication for the stay with drop off, pick up and how she was doing was great. He is very caring and responsive. Would definitely book with him again.”

“They took care of them very well! We were worried because our dogs have limited human interactions, but she assured us that they were really good. We were very scared putting them in someone else's care but they did above and beyond, especially for the dogs temperaments. Thank you!”

About: I've been taking care of animals of all kinds since I was 12! I started volunteering early with a local humane society and have been active in rescues ever since. I have also fostered dogs from two months-10 years old, including medical fosters, so I'm comfortable giving pets medicine if need be. I currently work at UVA in their communications office, where I have a lot of flexibility, especially on Thursdays and Fridays when I work remotely. I'm available most weekends and many holidays! I live in a shared house with a unfenced backyard and a couple of roommates, both of whom love dogs! There's a trail near me that I enjoy walking dogs on if they are OK with other people/dogs. Otherwise, I take dogs on walks once or twice daily.
“Laura is awesome. She is flexible and is very accommodating to your schedule for pick up/drop off times. She sent lots of pictures of our pups playing throughout the day. I’m rebooking every time with her!!”

“Nikki and her family were phenomenal with my dogs! I still can’t believe they ate so well while they were there! Usually they won’t eat when we are gone! Thank you so much to Nikki!”

“She took super good care of our puppers and followed all of our care instructions! We left our dog for a whole week while we went down to Mexico and we didn’t worry about him cause we knew he was in great hands. Will book with Reilly again!”

“Everything about Joey and Zuzu's stay was PERFECT! We've only had Zuzu (rescued) for a few weeks; he has some "quirks", had no idea how he'd do, but Joey put us at ease during the meet & greet - he has a wonderful demeanor, his philosophy on having/treating/educating dogs is the same as ours, his place is great (lots of space, personal attention, socialization, etc etc). Communication was great, we were accommodated when drop-off time changed last minute, received pics/videos during Zuzu's stay, and received very helpful feedback on Zuzu when we picked him up. THANX, Joey -- we'll definitely book with you again !”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Union Mills
I hadn't boarded my dog in over a year, and she's pretty reactive. I wasn't sure how it would go, but we met a few months before the boarding, and Mark put me at ease. He has a lot of experience with all kinds of dogs, and he let Orla meet his dogs and play while we went through his checklist of questions. He clearly loves taking care of the pets that stay with him. When I dropped her off for her 5-day stay, he let her ease into meeting the other dogs, and I could see she would be well-cared for. I felt so much better about leaving her for my trip. Communication was great, and he checked in a few times with some pics of Orla, too.

Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Adding another pup to the pack? Most sitters and walkers offer a reduced rate for additional dogs. You’ll find these exact rates listed under the "Services" tab on any sitter's profile. Since every dog is unique, final pricing may vary depending on the level of care required.
