“Bethany and James were perfect sitters for Alfie, they sent photos and updates daily to ensure we were kept well informed of his happiness. A week away from Alfie is a long time for us, but we can tell he loved it. We fully recommend Bethany and will be booking again soon.”

“Our 2 year old Labrador Archie stayed with Natalie and her family recently for 4 days and nights. I was a little nervous about leaving him as he’s not been left before with anyone outside of the family. I needn’t have worried, he had a brilliant time! He had the company of her own GSD (similar age to Archie) they became best buddies. He’s home for a rest 😂 Natalie sent me loads of updates along with photos and videos where I could see he was having so much fun in her home and on his walks. He was also spoilt by her children who loved playing tug with him. I’d highly recommend Natalie if you want your dog cared for in a loving family setting.”

“Both dogs looked like they had an amazing time. Frankie was very accommodating with my change of plans and facilitating a pick up and drop off with my ex for jezza. She took some amazing pics of Jeremy too.”

“I’m so happy that my dogs were looked after by Alicia & her family. My dogs looked so happy over the days Alicia cared for them, her garden was massive and perfect for them to explore when they needed to stretch their legs. I couldn’t recommend Alicia enough, and so hope she is available again in the future when I need a sitter for my loves.”

“Nunu was a dream for our two dogs. They loved her straight away. She was brilliant with us too - super communicative. It was great to leave our 1 year old and 10 year old with her because she was so competent, fun and friendly. Will definitely use again!”

“Joanna is an excellent dog sitter. We had regular updates whilst we were away which were lovely to receive and put us completely at ease. Bob our frenchie pug loved his time with her. She took him on lovely walks and we couldn’t have asked for any more. We’ll be booking again if we ever need dog cover”

“I could not have been happier leaving my 18 week old pup with Elizabeth and her husband. It was our first time being away from our Bailey, and they were absolutely amazing with her! I was kept up to date all day with messages and pictures, and Elizabeth’s husband even did some training with her! We would absolutely be using Elizabeth and her husband again. Thank you both for making it all so easy! 😊”

“Chelsey welcomed our doggie into her home in such a warm way that we knew instantly she would be really well looked after. We appreciated the updates during the evening and our doggie felt very much at home. Would definitely recommend! And thanks Chelsey!”

“Eric and Winnie had a lovely time with Leah. When I dropped them off Leah showed me where the dogs would have access and once I left they both made themselves at home. It was an extremely hot day so they were sensibly not taken on a walk but they had plenty of outside space if they needed. Leah sent me photos and updates during the day which was great and reassuring. I highly recommend Leah and would not hesitate to book her again.”

“Natasha and family have been amazing with my karma. Really thoughtful and caring. Really responsive. Loved the pics of my girl that she sent. Lovely person and would highly recommend.”

“We had daily updates with photos, Alma looked like she had a wonderful time. When we picked her up, Alma was lovely and clean. Sophia is a bit more expensive than others, but we'll worth it.”

“Mostly when leaving your dog with someone any owner is looking for reassurance that they will be well cared for. Robert gave us that confidence and reassurance from the moment we met him. Calm and caring towards our dog. Would happily recommend.”

“Daniel and Alida were amazing with Capri. They constantly sent us photos and updates and he really looked like he was enjoying himself and seemed sad to leave them when I came to pick them up! Would definitely recommend them to any other dog owners, and we can't wait for them to look after Capri sometime soon. :)”

Amy & Kiran took amazing care of our retriever Mylo! They kept us up to date with photos and messages while we were away for the evening and he seemed relaxed and happy in their company which was reassuring to us as it was our first time using a dog sitter. Would definitely recommend them! Thank you again x

This is the first time I’ve ever left a pet in a stranger’s care but I knew right from initial contact with Rebecca that Arnold would be in safe, caring hands. Her communication is excellent and she’s made sure Arnold feels welcome and loved. Arnold has had huge fun with her dog Finn! He’ll definitely be back!

You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
