“I am so thankful to have found Allison. Not only did Allison take great care of our girl while we were away, she was flexible, and quick to communicate to our inquiries. We will definitely use her again in the future and refer her to all of our friends!”

About: Any day any time I’m here to help you with your pets needs. Several local referrals and references to provide you and your loved ones. I provide pet services everyday. All hours of the day including overnights. No need to worry just contact me. I have and breed dogs as well. Animals are always my first priority. They are treated as my own. My children play an active roll in helping with care of our furry friends.

My jobs are flexible & I normally can be available Monday-Sunday for all your pet needs! So taking care of your pets will not be a problem. I prioritize each pet’s unique needs & routines, whether in my home or the client’s home. In my home, I ensure a safe, clean, and pet-friendly environment with plenty of space for play and relaxation with the help of 3 dogs who I share a home with. I follow the pet owner’s instructions closely, including feeding schedules, exercise routines, & any specific care instructions. In the client’s home, I maintain their pet’s usual routine to minimize stress. I keep the home tidy & communicate regularly with updates & photos to give peace of mind. My goal is to provide loving, attentive care as if they were my own pets.
“We’ve had Peyton care for our horses, cats and dogs for years, long before she joined River. Never had a problem and she’s always provided a secure, loving caring and healthy environment for our pets and animals. She adores animals, and is very knowledgeable in their care and training.”

About: I love all animals but my love for dogs is unmatched! Growing up we always had dogs , from teacup Yorkies to Dobermans and everything in between. I have been dog sitting since 2018 for friends family and members of my church but Rover is still new to me :) I am available for boarding in my home and house sitting Monday-Sunday! My schedule often varies so if you have questions don't hesitate to ask. Your pets' safety and happiness is my main priority. I aim to create a stress free and happy fun environment for all involved. Pets are family too and should be treated as such!
“Wonderful experience! My Goldendoodle, Bailey had so much fun. Hanna sent me pictures and a video and gave me updates. She has a large yard for Bailey to run and play. Reasonable fee. Thank you Hanna!”

“I just recently found Ayme & I have booked with her twice in one week!!! I chose her because of her extensive positive reviews & for the fact that she has a nice backyard. Upon meeting her, she is warm, kind & welcoming. My adopted chocolate lab has separation anxiety, which has been getting worse. He becomes immensely anxious when I leave him and he can’t be left alone at all, or else he barks non-stop. He doesn’t love doggy daycare because it’s too many dogs, not enough human interaction and no outside time. He has done well with Ayme twice so far for day care and I look forward to using her services consistently to get him familiarized with her & being away from me. I totally recommend Ayme!”

About: 🐾 Hi, I’m your dog’s new favorite human! I’m a reliable, attentive, and animal-loving sitter who treats every pup like my own. Whether your dog is full of energy and loves long walks, or prefers cozy naps and gentle company, I tailor my care to fit their personality and routine. I hold a Master’s degree in Animal Science with a focus on canine and feline care, and I have hands-on experience in dog shows and dog sports. This means I’m comfortable working with everything from high-energy, well-trained performance dogs to everyday companions who just want love and consistency. I also have experience with both basic pet grooming and show dog grooming, so I pay close attention to coat care, cleanliness, and overall presentation. I’m experienced with dogs of all sizes, ages, and temperaments, and I’m comfortable administering basic medications, sticking to feeding schedules, and maintaining routines. I’ll also keep you updated with photos and messages so you always know your pet is happy, safe, and well cared for. Safety, trust, and lots of tail wags are my top priorities. I can’t wait to meet your furry family member! 🐶💛 Pet care is a natural and consistent part of my daily routine. I structure my schedule to prioritize the needs of the pets in my care, including regular walks, feeding times, play, and enrichment. Because of my background in animal science and experience with dog sports and shows, I’m very used to maintaining structured routines and adapting to each dog’s individual needs—whether that’s high-energy exercise, training reinforcement, or a calm, predictable environment. I’m flexible throughout the week and make sure I have the availability to give each pet the time, attention, and consistency they deserve. Safety, trust, and a calm environment are my top priorities in both my home and my client’s home. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I aim to keep their routine as consistent as possible to reduce stress. I follow all instructions closely—feeding schedules, exercise, medications, and any household preferences—while keeping the environment clean, secure, and respectful. I’m very mindful of doors, gates, and potential hazards to ensure pets stay safe at all times. In my home, I provide a structured, low-stress environment with plenty of supervision, enrichment, and rest. Dogs are never left unattended in unsafe situations, and I carefully manage introductions and interactions if other dogs are present. Cleanliness, secure spaces, and routine are always maintained. With my background in animal science, dog sports, and grooming, I’m very attentive to behavior, body language, and overall wellbeing, allowing me to respond quickly to each pet’s needs and keep them comfortable, safe, and happy.
About: I've loved dogs for the longest time and ever since I've had my own, you quickly realize they are more than a pet, they are family. My dog and I will treat your dog just like family during their visit. I succeeded well in training my dog on my own from house training, to off leash, to playing hide and seek, and I understand the important component of upholding and instilling any of your training while you're not present. As of June 30th, I no longer work remotely, but work very close to home. I still will have plenty of time to give your pup comfort and attention throughout the day. I am available most weekdays and weekends, but may become more limited depending on the season. I have 1 dog, a small Yorkshire Terrier who is known as Mr. President because he loves to greet and befriend each pet or person he sees, no matter the size. He is super friendly and playful and would love to be a great friend and playmate with your pup. I can easily crate your dog if needed with one you provide or with one of my own crates or expandale play pens. My yard is open, but there is plenty of space for fun. I enjoy long walks, so if your pup needs to get in multiple miles, I can make that happen. I have a multi level townhome. Dogs are allowed anywhere in the home except for the kitchen. If your dog loves the outdoors, i have a small deck and a small enclosed front balcony they can hang on. There are plenty of toys and puzzles, but you are of course welcome to provide their favorite toy.
“Amy and Kris couldn't have been nicer people. I used their services to watch my beagle for the day while I visited Richmond. Their home was easy on and off the highway making this place ideal for visits. Bitsy spent the day with a few other nice dogs, received some delicious homemade doggy treats and got lots of love and snuggles. Thanks, we will be back again. :)”

“Susan and Josh were such great hosts for June! Lots of outdoor space, and other dogs to hang out with. I would recommend this home to any pet and will use again if we’re in the area!”

About: Hello! I am looking to assist with care of your furry friends!! -Combined pet experience of 30+ years, all ages particularly seniors as well! I worked for veterinary services specializing in boarding care for 8 years through out schooling -Will ensure your home is left in the condition received with minimal housekeeping (will take trash out and clean up any pet accidents they may have due to medical conditions. Additional requests can be discussed with or without additional pricing) -Our commitment is to ensure your pets safety, emotionally and physically as if they are our own -Regular updates will be provided streamlining communication -I choose Rover over other traditional “2nd jobs”, because I want to enjoy the work we do! Looking forward to meeting you and your fur babies! I have a full-time job, however, remotely!! This allows one person at all times to care for your pets, during most hours! My personal break(s) will be scheduled based on both client and provider agreed upon schedules. For example: after evening pet care, there will be a 2-4 hour provider break for dinner and family time before returning for overnight care. Home has pvc wood vinyl for easy mess clean up. The yard is flat and fully fenced in. Warmer weather will have plastic kiddo pools for dogs to cool off. If your dog weighs more than 85 pounds, I require dogs to be leashed trained and/or with a “no pull” dog harness for the safety of your pet and care taker. Meaning, dogs that continually pull excessively while on leash, will either receive short potty breaks, or only “fenced-in” activities. This will be agreed upon at initial encounter. We understand the need to burn off energy! We want to keep everyone safe while we strive to keep the routine as close to yours as much as possible.
About: Welcome! For me, caring for your pet isn't a job—it's a privilege. I truly believe your furry friend deserves the same unconditional love and routine they get from you. When your pet is with me, they become part of my temporary family, guaranteed to get plenty of snuggles, playtime, and personalized attention. Go enjoy your time away knowing your best friend is happy, safe, and deeply cared for. I had a French bulldog for 7 years and he had multiple health challenges from spinal surgeries to environmental and food allergies. You name it, he had it so I am well versed in pets with medication management needs or ones that have restrictions and I understand the importance of following these important guidelines. I’ve had to administer oxygen, shots and find unique ways to get the most stubborn doggie to take his meds so your dog is in good hands if they have any medical challenges. He was also my soul dog and constant companion so I understand the love one has for their furry family members. I’m at home during the day so I have the ability to play and love on your special baby frequently. I lost my soul dog, my frenchie, in December 2024 and have so much love to give. I would be honored to share my heart with your family member. I have a fenced in back yard where your doggies can play and there are no other dogs or kids in the household. I also love to take them on walks in the neighborhood, if they like walks. They would get extra special attention and may come home a little more spoiled. I also love hanging out with your pets on the sofa and sleeping with them in the bed but if there is a specific routine you want me to follow, I will follow your instructions to a tee.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of September 2026, there are 569 sitters on Rover offering Doggy Day Care across Tunstall. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Tunstall commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 569 sitters in Tunstall, 88% respond to messages in under an hour.
You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
