Brittany was great! My dog took to her calm kindness right away! I had no trouble separating to go out. Kona (my dog) welcomed her right back again. What more can you ask for? I would definitely work with Brittany again. Thank you!

About: Hi there! My partner and I are available for pet sitting and house sitting. Between the two of us we will keep your pet company and be able to take them out for regular exercise. I go trail running & we go biking regularly so high energy dogs will have plenty of opportunity for exercise. We are also very used to caring for senior animals and going at their pace. Administering medications are no issue for us. Matt works from home and I am studying nutrition so your pets will not be left home alone for long durations if time. Matthew works from home so he will be a constant companion. I am currently studying so I will be able to love on your pet and take them out for walks & stimulation outside of the home. We prefer to follow your pets routine to make them feel as comfortable as possible. I’m a regular trail runner and we enjoy biking so energized animals will have the opportunity for plenty of exercise. We’re also very happy for long and slow walks for the elderly. I tend to be very snuggly with all animals and will send many photos during our stay.

I feel like we hit the jackpot with Olivia! Her communication was fantastic and we received photos and updates from her the entire time we were away. Our home was immaculate, like she was never here! But most of all, we knew our pets were cared for and loved by her while we were gone and that is priceless!

About: I've spent my entire life living with and caring for both dogs and cats. While I have more hands-on experience with cats, I'm also comfortable caring for dogs and meeting their daily needs, as long as they don't require specialized medical or behavioral care. I have experience caring for pets at every stage of life, from playful puppies and kittens to senior pets requiring extra patience and attention. Over the years, I've administered saline injections to cats, given oral medications, and mixed medications into food when necessary. As I am currently attending school, I dedicate part of each day to my studies. Outside of my schoolwork, I have a flexible schedule. My availability may occasionally be affected by holidays or special occasions, but I am always happy to work with clients to find a suitable arrangement whenever possible. I will treat your home and pets with the same care and respect I give my own. Your home will be kept clean, tidy, and just as you left it. In the unlikely event of a simple accident, such as a spill, it will be cleaned up promptly and with care.

Jeanne was wonderful with my dog Zoë, who is going blind. Although Zoë's been a bit more anxious with new people as her eyes deteriorate, she was open to Jeanne from the first moment they met and seems to have bonded deeply with her over the days I was gone. Jeanne was calm, extremely responsible, and loving; she didn't hesitate to take on the challenge of administering eyedrops and finding ways to elicit Zoë's love and trust. Thank you so much, Jeanne!!

Holly was awesome with my dog. She watched her for 3 nights. Was very communicative and asked me questions when unsure. Sent me lots of pics of my baby which means a lot. Also my dog can be particular about who she trusts but I can tell they got along great and she was well cared for. Thanks Holly !

About: Animals have always been a passion of mine. I am highly knowledgeable about dog care, behavior, and overall well-being. I have experience helping whelp puppies and have cared for and trained dogs throughout every stage of life, from puppies to seniors. I currently have a senior dog myself, giving me firsthand experience with the special attention older pets need. In addition to dogs, I have farm experience caring for horses, pigs, chickens, and other animals. I treat every pet with patience, compassion, and the same love and attention I give my own animals. Let’s plan a day for me to come do a meet and greet :) Pet care is my full time job! I have open and flexible availability and am excited to dedicate time to providing dependable, attentive care to every pet I look after. Pet care is a true passion of mine, and I take pride in making sure each animal feels safe, comfortable, and well cared for. I look forward to expanding my availability and continuing to do what I love most—caring for animals full time. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and well-being are my top priorities. I strive to provide a calm, loving, and stress-free environment, caring for pets in the comfort of their own home. I understand that many pets feel most secure in familiar surroundings, and I am committed to maintaining their routines and giving them the individualized attention they deserve. With experience caring for animals of all ages, I am attentive, patient, and treat every pet as if they were my own. Building trust with both pets and their owners is incredibly important to me, and I pride myself on being reliable, communicative, and compassionate.

About: I have been taking care of animals all my life, and pet-sitting professionally for over 10 years now. I am particularly experienced and confident in caring for senior animals, pets needing medication, and those who are particularly shy or need that extra emotional consideration. You'll notice me take the extra time to get to know your pet and the nuances of their personality and needs. I offer animals the slowness and presence needed for deep listening and attunement: two qualities that help build trust. I am highly organized, detail-oriented, and good at communication. I'm used to planning my schedule and time around the needs of the animals I'm caring for, and am always ready to apply my extensive knowledge for unexpected situations that may arise. Some of my recent clients include a rowdy pack of 5 dogs of various size and breed, a senior cat with hyperthyroidism who switches her food preferences daily, a blind and deaf senior dog who loves to play, and a farm sanctuary with over 20 animals, including pigs rescued from a neglect situation and feral cats being socialized for the first time. If your animal needs a bit more time and care to feel comfortable around someone new, takes medication or is navigating ongoing health conditions, or is at higher likelihood of needing veterinarian intervention while you're away, these are situations where I have both experience and confidence. For me, animal care isn't just about completing all the tasks that need to be done for the well-being of our animal family members. It's about creating a relationship of trust with the animals relying on me, as well as their human guardians. Entrusting your beloved pet to another person, as well as opening your home to them, is something you deserve to feel secure and confident in. And your pet deserves to feel truly cared for, understood, and prioritized while you're away. With my years of experience both personally and professionally, and my special skills for medical and emotional complexity, I know I can provide a pet-care experience where trust flows in all directions. Pet-care is my main job (and joy) which I orient the rest of my living schedule around. I have lots of flexibility to form my schedule around your animal's needs. My most commonly booked form of pet-sitting is overnight care in the pet's home. This can put the pets at ease and lets them maintain their usual routines. Having years of experience with overnight stays, I am diligent and thorough when it comes to keeping your home and animal family safe: I always lock all doors and windows when I am away, unless given different instruction. I am always aware of closing doors and gates behind me so no pets can escape. I also offer visits / drop-ins throughout the day, and am consistent and timely in these visits.

About: I started taking care of animals when I was really young I think around 6 years old I would take care of my neighbor's dog was a little Pomeranian when they would go places. Also my neighbor had a Irish setter that I would go visit all the time and she would give me a dollar to walk her around the block or talking at least 48 years ago and I still remember it to this day it was one of the best times in my life when I was young. I think I've decided that I want to dedicate my life to this I mean what's left of it anyway lol I've been working with people most of my life and I thought I'd give this a try so daily routine and weekly routine would be up to the customer and it would be your preference after all you're the boss right? I've been a caregiver since 1998 of people I had five background checks last year for the state of Oregon I work for Oregon health Care commission and I'm a caregiver I passed five of them so you would not have to worry about me being in your home I would offer the services that you were requesting and you would also go beyond even more than what you would expect I think I would be a good fit with for anybody I'm an older lady and I've got a lot of grandchildren so I figured taking care of your for a babies and I would treat them like my grandbabies or you would say fur babies. Customer would be my boss so therefore I would do what they would ask.

Maya was an excellent sitter for our home and our pets! This was our first experience using Rover, and Maya made it so seamless and easy. She came over prior to booking to make sure everyone was a good fit, she provided updates with pictures and videos while we were away, we came home to a clean house and happy, well cared for animals. Would absolutely re book with Maya and recommend her to anyone!

Olivia took wonderful care of our pets (a labrador retriever and a tuxedo cat) — as well as our home! She arrived just when she said she would and sent updates with photos during her stay. Olivia was also very responsive to any messages I sent. We feel fortunate to have found someone in the area with so much animal care experience and look forward to having her stay again with Molly and Finn.

FAQs for House Sitting - Toledo

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Toledo on Rover is $72.15 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 301 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Toledo. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Toledo walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Toledo maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Toledo choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Toledo. On Rover:

  • 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
