Our pups had a wonderful time with Leslie. I knew they would when we did a meet-n-greet. She is a loving dog person and they knew it right away. Her home is beautiful and accommodates dogs - lots of toys, blanket to snuggle in or rest next to Leslie on sofa. Backyard is big and fenced in - a doggies dream backyard. Leslie sent fun pictures and kept us up-to-date on their potty breaks. She walked the pups on a walking trails near her home which my dogs loved. Hopefully next time they will get to see the Canadian geese which visit the local pond regularly. We are so excited that Leslie has started Rover sitting — she is a gem and we are already signing up for another daycare sitting. 🙏🐾❤️

Danielle was great with Chloe. She took her on 3 walks and she enjoyed playing with Danielle's daughter. She sent me several pictures to let me know she was happy and comfortable since this was her first visit with Danielle. I will definitely call on Danielle the next time I need a sitter! Thanks Danielle!

About: I’ve shared my life with dogs and cats for as long as I can remember, including adopted and rescue animals of different ages, personalities and needs. I have special experience caring for senior and medically fragile pets. I adopted a very elderly, sick dog who required frequent medication and attentive daily care, and I also cared for my cat through medical needs that required consistent medication. I’m currently a devoted dog mom to Graci, a two-year-old Labrador, and a proud grandmom to Zoey, a two-year-old mini Australian Shepherd/Corgi mix. Caring for animals has given me hands-on experience with walks, feeding routines, playtime, medication schedules, close supervision and helping pets feel safe and comfortable. I understand that rescue animals and senior pets may need additional patience, consistency and time to build trust. I’m also a retired federal professional known for being dependable, observant and calm in unexpected situations. I understand that trusting someone with your pet—and your home—is a very personal decision. I will follow your instructions carefully, communicate consistently and provide plenty of photos and updates so you can feel completely comfortable while you’re away. “Continuing my professional development” sounds more natural and polished than “pursuing additional courses.” I’m currently taking a professional break while continuing my professional development, which gives me a flexible schedule and plenty of time to provide your pet with attentive, loving care. I’m home much of the day and can easily accommodate feeding, playtime, medication, cuddles, and your pet’s normal routine. Safety and comfort are always my priorities. I have one friendly Labrador who gets along well with other dogs and can be crated or kept separately if needed. My neighborhood is great for safe, leashed walks, and I carefully follow each pet parent’s instructions regarding feeding, medication, exercise, and routines.

About: I’m a full-time work-from-home professional. Unless I’m traveling for work, I’m home with the pups all day, giving them plenty of attention, love, and care. Please message me for availability—my schedule can often be adjusted to fit your needs. A Few Things to Know: - I focus on dogs 45 lbs and under to ensure everyone stays safe and comfortable. - Dogs will be staying in my home, not a separate kennel area. - I offer free pick up and drop off services so you have one less thing to worry about! Pick up and Drop off must be during daylight hours. Otherwise you will need to pick up or drop off your pup. Pick ups and drop offs must be before 8pm. - If you’d prefer your dog to be the only guest during their stay, just let me know—I’ll do my best to accommodate. - I’ve been petsitting longer than I’ve had my dogs so they’ve been raised with different dogs coming and going and love dogs of all sizes! - I do have chickens and ducks so if your dogs have any prey tendencies, please let me know so I can keep them separated. What Your Dog Can Expect: - Free access to a fully fenced yard for playtime. - Couch privileges and plenty of indoor snuggles. - A daily rhythm of breakfast, play, naps, dinner, and evening exercise. - Lots of dog beds to choose from so everyone always has a comfy space - Walks and leisurely outings if your pup enjoys them. Why Choose Me? I’ve had dogs all my life, and honestly—I prefer pets to people! My own pack is spoiled, and I’ll treat your dog like the king or queen they are. With me, your pup will get more than just care—they’ll get genuine love, attention, and a home-away-from-home. Send me a message today—I’d love to meet your furry best friend! I work from home full time so I can accommodate all schedules and needs! Usually the day starts with breakfast and a little playtime, followed by afternoon napping and then dinner. More playtime after dinner- to make sure everyone gets their exercise needs met. I love all my dogs and yours too! Dogs are given free access to fully fenced outdoor yard and free access to inside, including being on furniture.

Thank you, Ellen! Our pup Cici had and awesome time. She usually doesn't eat when she is at a sitter for the first time. So, we knew she felt safe and at home when she ate while she was there. We loved all the photos, and we could tell she had fun because she slept like a puppy when she came home. We will definitely see you again!

About: I have loved and cared for dogs for many years. I grew up with dogs and have always been comfortable around them. I have also helped care for my sister’s dogs and dogs of close friends. I provide calm, loving, one-on-one care in my home and treat every dog like family. My goal is to help each dog feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for. I am home most of the day and have plenty of time to care for dogs. I only leave the house briefly for errands or to pick up my kids. This allows me to provide calm, attentive, one-on-one care throughout the day. I offer one-on-one care and only host one dog at a time. I have a safe, fenced backyard and a calm home environment for rest and play. I provide toys and close supervision to help dogs feel comfortable. For safety, doors stay secure, and I use a leash for walks and outdoor time when needed.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 2,359 sitters on Rover offering Doggy Day Care across The Plains. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your The Plains commute.

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.

A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.

Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:

  • For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
  • For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
  • For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.

Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 2,359 sitters in The Plains, 87% respond to messages in under an hour.

You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
