“Danielle was great with Chloe. She took her on 3 walks and she enjoyed playing with Danielle's daughter. She sent me several pictures to let me know she was happy and comfortable since this was her first visit with Danielle. I will definitely call on Danielle the next time I need a sitter! Thanks Danielle!”

About: I’ve shared my life with dogs and cats for as long as I can remember, including adopted and rescue animals of different ages, personalities and needs. I have special experience caring for senior and medically fragile pets. I adopted a very elderly, sick dog who required frequent medication and attentive daily care, and I also cared for my cat through medical needs that required consistent medication. I’m currently a devoted dog mom to Graci, a two-year-old Labrador, and a proud grandmom to Zoey, a two-year-old mini Australian Shepherd/Corgi mix. Caring for animals has given me hands-on experience with walks, feeding routines, playtime, medication schedules, close supervision and helping pets feel safe and comfortable. I understand that rescue animals and senior pets may need additional patience, consistency and time to build trust. I’m also a retired federal professional known for being dependable, observant and calm in unexpected situations. I understand that trusting someone with your pet—and your home—is a very personal decision. I will follow your instructions carefully, communicate consistently and provide plenty of photos and updates so you can feel completely comfortable while you’re away. “Continuing my professional development” sounds more natural and polished than “pursuing additional courses.” I’m currently taking a professional break while continuing my professional development, which gives me a flexible schedule and plenty of time to provide your pet with attentive, loving care. I’m home much of the day and can easily accommodate feeding, playtime, medication, cuddles, and your pet’s normal routine. Safety and comfort are always my priorities. I have one friendly Labrador who gets along well with other dogs and can be crated or kept separately if needed. My neighborhood is great for safe, leashed walks, and I carefully follow each pet parent’s instructions regarding feeding, medication, exercise, and routines.

About: I've been with dogs since I was a kid, and honestly, I can't explain my attachment to these beautiful souls. When I look into their eyes, I see pure love—and I believe they deserve nothing less in return. For years, I've onboarded and cared for dogs, learning their personalities, their quirks, their fears. I understand separation anxiety deeply, and I make it my mission to turn your absence into comfort, not stress. When your dog stays with me, they're not in a kennel or with a "sitter." They're at home. Your pup will have: 1) A warm, cozy vacation home where they're part of my family—including my own dog, who provides constant companionship and helps anxious pups feel safe 2) Adventure & Exercise: Long walks, hiking trails, and outdoor playtime—because a happy dog is an active dog 3) Structure with Love: Meals on schedule, plus treats I've earned through their good behavior—think fresh boiled chicken, their favorite reward 4) Real Connection: I treat every dog like my own. Not because it's my job, but because I genuinely can't help it. I work from home, so the pups get 24/7 care and attention. My day revolves around the dogs: morning walks, midday adventures, weekend trials, regular potty breaks, scheduled meals, playtime, and constant companionship. They're never alone—never crated—never waiting. They won't experience separation anxiety here. They'll experience a loving home where they're part of my daily routine, every single day. Pups get a warm, cozy, dog-friendly environment where they're treated like family. They have access to comfortable spaces, toys, water, and safe outdoor areas. My own dog is here too, providing constant companionship—especially important for dogs with separation anxiety. They're never alone, never crated. Daily Care in My Home: Nutrition: Meals on schedule, portion-controlled, with fresh boiled chicken treats (their favorite!) Exercise: Multiple walks and hikes daily, playtime, outdoor adventures based on each dog's energy level Comfort: Bedding, safe spaces, cuddle time, and the security of knowing I'm always here Attention: Individualized care—I learn each dog's personality, fears, and needs from day one Health: Medication management, scheduled potty breaks, and monitoring their wellbeing

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
