“Jaclyn was amazing! Very communicative and sent lots of pictures showing our girl to be happy and healthy! The house was just as we had left it and could not of been happier with her! Will definitely be using her again in the future!”

“Chasity is always great. We’ve used her several times with our three dogs and feel much more comfortable having her watch them compared some of the others we’ve used. You can tell she really cares for the dogs and that certainly helps us worry less while we’re gone.”

“Abby showed great communication skills, keeping me posted on her arrival and departure so I knew Jake was safe. She also reported Jake was limping for awhile, but had apparently recovered, which shows she was paying attention to his health and welfare. Will definitely book Abby again!”

“Mandy was fantastic! She sent lots of pictures and videos while we were gone and was very flexible with start and end times, which was much appreciated. It was nice to know our pets were well cared for while we were gone! We would definitely love to have Mandy watch our pets again :)”

“Steven was wonderful! He took the time to meet and ask all about Stella’s little quirks prior to me leaving.. and provided me all the updates when I was gone. I came back to a very happy pup!!”

“Sammie was a fantastic sitter for our little guy. Took lots of picture updates which was very appreciative. She left the apartment in better shape than it was before and was extremely responsible and trustworthy. Could not recommend her more and will certainly be booking again! 😊”

About: I've loved animals ever since I was little. Grew up with dogs and even at one point we had a cat. As a young adult now, I have a Jack Russell of my own who is 5 so I’m very experienced with walking and being responsible around a dog. I know how special the love and beauty that our furry little friends bring to our lives. I want to make sure yours feels that love and care too! My availability is open during the week and on some weekends if I’m in town. I am inbetween jobs at the moment so I have more free time! In a client’s home, I am committed to quality time with your pet. I understand the importance of being present and paying attention to detail when it comes to animals. Even if they’re not active and don’t need to be taken out for exercise, just chilling and keeping your pet company is key if I’m sitting. This applies the same way in my own home.
“Kamryn is another dog sitter with Rover whose love for dogs is crystal clear. She loves being with my dog Jake and he is clearly happy being with her! I hope to continue to have Kamryn as another one of my Rover star sitters I can have stay with Jake over and over, making it a lot easier for me to leave him when I need to travel. Highly recommended!”

About: I’ve grown up around animals and have always loved caring for them. I have a dog and cats at home who I miss dearly while I’m away at college, so pet sitting is a great way for me to spend time with animals and give them the same love and attention I give my own. I’m comfortable caring for dogs and cats of different ages, personalities, and energy levels. I’ve also cared for other animals, including hedgehogs, rabbits, and other small critters. I’m happy to follow your pet’s normal routine, whether that means walks, playtime, feeding, cuddles, or simply keeping them company. I’m a college student with a busy but flexible schedule, and I’m happy to fit pet care into my routine. I’m available for walks, drop-ins, and sitting depending on my class and extracurricular schedule. I’ll always communicate clearly about my availability and make sure your pet gets plenty of attention, care, and companionship while you’re away. I know how important it is to trust someone with your pets, and I would care for them as if they were my own. I’ll carefully follow your instructions regarding feeding, walks, medications if needed, and your pet’s usual routine. I’m attentive to doors, gates, leashes, and surroundings to help keep pets safe. I’ll also treat your home with respect and keep you updated so you can feel comfortable knowing your pets are happy and well cared for.
About: I have grown up around pets and livestock my whole life. I have always loved every pet and animal that has come across my path. I even am in school to become a veterinarian! I have taken care of other people’s pets, and always treat them as my own. Willing to give references if ever needed. I have my own pets; and growing up I had the opportunity to raise and care for many different animals and pets. Making my schedule work around the animals is something I completely understand. I myself have three dogs so understand making them work. I always keeps mornings and afternoons free, as well has have a lunch break making it easy to drop-in visits or anything of that sort I have a fenced yard and take my own, dog-friendly dogs, on two walks a day which vary in location. I usually try to play fetch at least one of the times we go out, and the walks always last from 30-60 minutes.
“We had a great meet and greet and Kaidance did a great job taking care of Jake and staying in touch with me during the time stayed in my house. She let me know when she arrived and departed, sent lots of pictures during the stay, and left me with a written "diary" of her activities and experiences with Jake and the house. I will be be happy to book Kaidance for dog and house sitting again, with no reservations at all.”

“Rae was fantastic with my fur family! I have a high anxiety dog and he dealt with my absence very well with Rae's patience and attention. Even my extra shy kitty came out to say hello. I got lots of videos and my mind was at ease while on vacation. I highly recommend!”

“Kevin is great with our dog every time. He is very attentive and sends pictures and updates, he is true to his word and we never have to worry about our dog when leaving him in Kevin’s hands!”

“Leah was super great!! I give a full star rating. She was wonderful with the dogs and was very easy to work with. She was flexible when we got stuck out of town with late spring snowstorm. She cleaned around the house before she left.”

“Vanessa was great with Maddie. She was upfront about her schedule and let me know any changes during the stay. Maddie is very easy going and easy to adjust to other people's schedules, so I had absolutely no issues with Vanessa's hours as long as she took great care of Maddie, which she did. She sent daily comments and pics on how things were going. It was a huge bonus that she was in close proximity to our house, which is rare. I highly recommend Vanessa and will use her again if needed without any hesitation.”

“Christine was wonderful with our dog, Linus. Linus is very leery of new people and it takes some patience to fully gain his trust, to understand and appreciate him! She was perfect for him! They were fast friends and he was a happy pup in our absence. What more could a dog mom want!? Highly recommend!”
“Erika kept in touch with me daily and sent photos. I can tell my dog was well cared for and I would absolutely have Erika dog sit again. My house was also clean when I got home. Erika did a great job with my leash reactive dog.”

About: For more than 15 years, I've been the person friends call when they need someone they completely trust with their pets and their home. I've cared for dogs and cats for everything from daily walks and check-ins to several-week stays, and I genuinely love getting to know each animal's unique personality. I naturally build trust with animals and have found that even more anxious, reactive, or shy pets often settle quickly with me. I've cared for dogs with social anxiety, leash reactivity, and strong personalities, and I enjoy helping them feel safe, confident, and understood. I'm also comfortable with puppies and reinforcing basic training and routines while you're away. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, quiet companionship, or simply sticking to their familiar routine, my goal is always the same: to make them feel safe, loved, and cared for so you can have complete peace of mind while you're away. I currently have a flexible schedule, which allows me to be available for walks, drop-in visits, and house sitting throughout the week. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine because I genuinely enjoy getting outside, staying active, and spending time with animals. When I'm caring for a pet, I prioritize keeping their routine as consistent as possible. Whether that's regular walks, playtime, feeding schedules, medication, or simply quiet companionship, I enjoy giving each pet the attention and care they need to feel comfortable while their family is away. Clear communication is also important to me, so I'll always keep you updated with photos and messages to let you know how your pet is doing. I currently offer care in my clients' homes, where pets can stay in the environment they know and love. I find that keeping their routine as consistent as possible helps them feel safe and relaxed while you're away. I take the time to get to know each pet's personality, energy level, and preferences. Some love long walks and lots of play, while others are happiest with quiet companionship and sticking to their routine. I enjoy meeting them where they are and giving them the care they need rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. I'll make sure your pet has fresh food and water, exercise, potty breaks, playtime, medications if needed, and plenty of affection if they want it. I'll also treat your home with the same care and respect I would my own and keep you updated with photos and messages so you can enjoy your time away knowing your pet is in good hands. At this time, I am not able to provide boarding in my own home, so all of my services take place in my clients' homes.
About: I have experience watching dogs, cats, and reptiles. I have cared for very young kittens and dogs in the end of there lives, as well as sick reptiles. I work from 7-3:30 weekdays, and am looking to work with pets on weekends and after work. My weekends are very free and I am flexible. I have reliable transportation with my car, and my home has a fenced in yard. I am comfortable driving to clients homes or hosting pets in my home.
“Hanna did a wonderful job caring for my elderly cat. She sent sweet pictures and thorough am/pm updates. Hanna is warm, outgoing, engaged, enthusiastic, caring, sincere and confident. My cat takes several meds- topical, injection, and oral and she was able to administer successfully. Not only that but she went above and beyond loving on him and giving him quality time. I highly recommend Hanna.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of September 2026, there are 82 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across The Buttes. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred The Buttes walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in The Buttes maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in The Buttes choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
