“Amaryl took great care of my cats! They really warmed up to her. One of my cats requires daily oral medicine and she was able to administer it. She took great photos and was very communicative. I was able to keep my mind at ease knowing she was looking after my cats.”

“Hello Amy !! I’m soooo happy he finally came out to play !! Txs for the pictures too !! BTW.. I forgot to mention that the trash can is on the far side of the garage but ur welcome to leave it just outside the laundry room door (ie in the garage) Many Thanks ;)”

About: I have taken care of dogs for friends of the family for years. I have taken care of solo dogs, two dogs, and three dogs. I always give the dogs the attention and time they need. I always keep the owners in the loop and send updates. I am currently working full time in a remote position. My remote position involves being in an approved location with my work so I unfortunately will not be able to spend the work day with pets during the week. I am available on weekends. I will not be caring for pets in my home. I have taken care of pets in their own homes and I always follow the instructions set forth
“Abby did a great job caring for my dog Samson while I was on vacation for a week. She was able to accommodate some last minute requests for me as well. I would definitely book with her again!”

About: What sets me apart from other sitters is that I will regularly keep you updated with visits and can follow whatever special instructions necessary! I’ll treat your pet like family and hopefully keep them from missing you too much. I have a background in teaching swim, which has taught me lots of patience, responsibility, and carefulness. While I am currently away at school, at home I took care of my 2 dogs - feeding them daily, walking them twice a week, and bathing them biweekly. This was part of my responsibilities at home and still help with them when I go home to visit. When I’m caring for your pet in your home, I will do my best to ensure they feel comfortable and are sticking to their normal routine. I will respect your, and their space and give them lots of love!
“Missy was so wonderful with my puppy Corbin! I had zero concerns leaving him in her hands. She was very communicative, followed directions, was respectful of my home, and was detailed in her updates. The photos she included in her updates were the highlight of my day! I could tell she really enjoyed her time with him and he was having fun and felt safe with her. Thank you so much, Missy!!!”

“Hannah is absolutely INCREDIBLE. She loved on our teething 3 month old Aussie with so much grace. She sends lots of updates which is great for us because we always feel bad leaving her. Thank you Hannah for your patience and time! We will be a repeat customer for sure!”

About: I'm a dedicated and compassionate pet caregiver with experience caring for both large and small dogs ranging in age from 1 to 13 years old. I understand that every dog has their own unique personality, preferences, and routine, and I take pride in providing attentive, individualized care that helps them feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I am highly detail-oriented and make it a priority to maintain your dog's regular schedule, including feeding times, potty breaks, exercise, medications (if needed), and daily routines. Consistency is important for a dog's well-being, so I work hard to ensure they remain on their normal schedule while you're away. My goal is to create a positive, fun, and loving environment where your pup feels cared for and happy. Dogs in my care receive plenty of attention, cuddles, and physical activity, typically between 30 minutes and 1 hour of exercise per day, depending on their age, energy level, and needs. Before services begin, I prefer to meet both the dog and their family. This allows me to learn your pet's routine, personality, favorite activities, and any special instructions. I also like to familiarize myself with the home, including the locations of emergency contacts, cleaning supplies, and other important items, so I can provide the safest and most seamless care possible. Communication is extremely important to me. I provide timely updates, regular photos, and detailed check-ins so you can feel confident knowing your furry family member is in caring hands. My goal is to give pet parents peace of mind while ensuring every dog receives the love, attention, and quality care they deserve. I am a full-time employee with flexible starting and closing hours. I work remotely once a week. Weekends are open as well. When I am presented with tasks, I make sure that all my responsibilities are taken care of. I allocate appropriate time to ensure client and self-satisfaction. When I put my mind to it, I complete my tasks to the best of my ability. I enter and exit the house the same way I arrived, always maintaining the client’s privacy and security. If I notice any damage or an emergency arises, I communicate immediately, offering opportunities for additional service and support. I treat the home as if it were my own, showing respect and care in every detail. I bring the same level of attention and compassion to the client’s pet, ensuring they are safe, comfortable, and well cared for. I am deeply caring, compassionate, tidy, and regimented in all that I do.

About: Growing up with Steve Irwin as my role model, I have personal experience with pets of many varieties, including cats, dogs, guinea pigs, rabbits, fish, crabs, etc. I have professionally worked as a cat sitter for 2 years, as well as experience working in a vet clinic as a receptionist and assistant. About: I’ve grown up around dogs. My family used to breed AKC Collie’s, owning 2 collies in total. Once I moved to college, I couldn’t have a collie where I lived so I got a Sheltie. He’s been with me ever since, though his “time” is approaching. (Passed away 4/6/2021) I’ve dog sat for several friends. I teach therefore summers off means a lot of availability for me to care for your dog! I’m no professional but I’m good with training and very patient with dogs. My sheltie was house broken in 6 months and knew all the basic commands. I have so much fun with dogs and have children to play with them too! Dogs must be good with other dogs and with children. I look forward to meeting your dog or dogs! I care a lot about animals! I do offer services year round, however, June through August are my peak times. I teach, therefore September through May are harder for me to care for other’s pets during the week. It can be done, but it is more difficult, as the pets will be cooped up from 7-3:30. I am always available on weekends! I offer discounts for repeat clients. Discount applied after booking. I am a teacher, therefore I primarily take on clients during the summer and on weekends. During the week is not out of question, just know they will be alone (must bring crate due to no supervision) from about 7 until 3/3:30 during the months school is in session. June through mid August, I am home except occasional errands and will be available for frequent potty breaks! I have a fenced in yard for your dog(s) to run around! I do have gentle giant (Great Dane) who loves to play. He can be intimidating, but he’s so sweet and just wants to play. Disclaimer- he drools a lot. I can keep your pet clean, though! I also have a Boston Terrier named Ellie. She is a very special story and although I picked her up as a 6 month old pup in 2012, we have been apart for 10 years and she’s back where she belongs. <3 If I come to your home for services, I am very professional and will be sure to follow your steps completely. I might sometimes need to bring my children with me, depending on the day.

I’ll always prioritize your pet’s safety and comfort while keeping you updated with photos and messages along the way! Pet care fits naturally into my weekends, when I have more flexibility and time to give pets plenty of attention, exercise, and playtime. I love having pets around for championship where I can give them the care they need! I care for every pet based on their individual routine and needs, providing plenty of attention, exercise, playtime, meals, fresh water, and lots of love. I’m respectful of each client’s home and follow all care instructions closely.
“I was able to schedule Audrey on short notice, she is fantastic at “coming through” last minute, and as usual, Sully (my little doggie) is excited to see her!”

“Destiny was great. She responded fast and always checked in with us with any questions and updates about our dogs. She sent us pictures each time she took care of our two dogs. I highly recommend Destiny and we'll be sure to book her again next time if she's available.”

“Megan stopped in to visit my cats during the holidays. We’ve used Megan as a sitter/dog walker for the past year and she has been fantastic. She’s very communicative and reliable whenever we need her! So lucky to have found her!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Taylorsport
I reached out to Kassandra for drop in visits for my five cats while I went on a trip. I was a little nervous leaving them in a strangers care but when I met her for an initial visit I immediately knew they were in good hands. I got updates and pictures multiple times a day and even my scaredy cat came around her. She followed their usual routine to a T. Highly recommend!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
