I have a great passion for pet care and personally understand what its like wanting to make sure they are safe, doing well and have everything they need while you are away. I would love to assist with taking them for walks, feeding them or cleaning the litter box. I'm also okay with cleaning up behind them if they should have an accident. In addition, I would be more than happy to give them some playtime while creating a new friendship. About: Hello! My name is MaKenzie, I am 24 years old and I grew up around dogs my entire life so this is not something that is new to me! I have been watching animals since I was 16, and have always loved it. I have watched all different kinds of animals from pigs and chicken all the way to bunnies and reptiles. I live in a house with a great yard (unfenced) with my dog Mochi. My dog is a female Doberman who LOVES to play. Mochi is extremely energetic so we do play and walk a lot. If your dog is similar, and as energetic as Mochi, then this would be a great spot for them! I’m currently running dog/cat sitting as a full time business, so I have all the time in the world. I also work part time for another company with hours around 11am-1pm. Whenever dogs visit they get free roam of the house along with my pup! Dogs do remain on leashes when going outside as I don’t have a fence. Dogs are not allowed unattended outside at all.

About: I began housesitting during the pandemic, just for a change of environment, but over time I’ve really come to enjoy it. I’ve previously worked in a pet boarding facility, so I have lots of experience in getting animals to eat, administering medications, and cleaning up after them! I’ve seen quite a bit. Currently doing a couple different odd jobs (this totally being one of them). I always try to spend a lot of time with the animal I’m caring for, sitting with them and allowing them to relax with me in the home. I always stay over with the animals. I strive to maintain the already established schedule, and not add any extra stress for the animals by disrupting their routine. I also like the take the dog for adventures when applicable, hikes or trips to the marina!

About: I recently moved to the Gorge from Asheville, NC, and I am so excited to meet you and your pups! My deep love for animals began at a very young age. Growing up, I was surrounded by pets of all shapes and sizes -from dogs and cats to farm animals, reptiles, and birds. That lifelong passion led me into a rewarding career in animal care. I have been a full-time professional dog groomer and daycare/boarding specialist for the past 20 years. I also have experience at a veterinary emergency center. In my free time, I would volunteer to walk shelter dogs. I understand that every dog is unique. Over two decades, I have developed extensive experience working with dogs of all ages, sizes, and temperaments. I specialize in a slow, patient approach for nervous or shy dogs who need extra reassurance, and I am highly experienced in administering necessary medications. I treat every pet like family. My very first dog, an Airedale mix, lived to be 16 and a half years old. She had a long, beautiful life that I attribute to deep love, care, and proper attention. Your pet will be included in everything! I understand some dogs enjoy lazy days too and I’m happy to accommodate that as well. I usually begin my morning with a walk and end it with one before bed. “I don’t even know where to begin. My husband and I rarely go on trips together. We have three dogs, they are all different ages with different care levels, and finding someone to care for them has always been challenging. Our family planned to go on an Alaskan cruise, and we decided to join them. We reached out to Karen and she was SO responsive. She got back to us quickly and agreed to do a meet and greet. Our dogs LOVED her immediately. We have a 6 year old street dog whom we rescued from Mexico. He is very sweet but is slow to warm up to people. Within a few minutes of Karen being at the house he was begging her for pets. It was decided right then that Karen would be watching our fur babies. Fast forward a few weeks and we are all lined up and ready to go on our trip. We’ve done a pack walk with Karen and have walked her through their daily needs. Karen is very thorough and wants as much information about your pets as she can get. To make sure everyone was good to go, my husband and I took our senior dog to the vet to get her arthritis shot. We wanted to make sure she would be comfortable while we were gone. At the vet appointment, we got heartbreaking news. Our veterinarian had a difficult and honest conversation with us about our dog’s health and quality of life. Our senior was 19 years old and had started experiencing some cogitative decline and mobility issues. After several long discussions and uncertainty about our pup’s health while we would be gone, we decided it was time to allow our sweet baby to cross the rainbow bridge. We were devastated and, as you could imagine, were experiencing some anxiety and uncertainty about leaving the other two dogs. When we explained to Karen what happened, she provided so much comfort and security. She let us know that there wasn’t any pressure to go on the trip and assured us that if we did, she would make sure our dogs were well loved on. We ended up going to Alaska. During our trip, Karen sent us photos and videos, and made sure to give us daily updates. If we request additional photos or videos, she always sent them no questions asked. She went out of her way to make us feel at ease, and it really helped give us the space and peace of mind to process everything that happened. Having Karen care for our fur babies not only allowed us to go on a family trip, it’s also allowed us to grieve our loss without having to carry the stress of the day-to-day and making sure the other dogs were taken care of. It goes without saying, but we will definitely book with Karen again. If you’re considering hiring Karen for your pets, I highly recommend it. You will be a so happy you did. Thank you Karen. We truly appreciate you, and the love and care you extend to Doodle and Wendi while we were gone.”

About: We are a husband-wife team that both work from home and love dogs and cats. We walk our dog(s) daily for a 3 to 4 mile walk, and shorter routes can be done for dogs that can't go long distance. Happy to house sit your fur baby/babies or just provide breaks for your pup or feed the cat. Our motto is... A tired dog is a good dog! We have flexible schedules. We are comfortable with giving meds if needed. Good with large breeds and light training during walks. Happy to reinforce whatever training / skills you are working on. We sometimes foster dogs, so schedule can be unpredictable at times. We both work from home currently, so have the ability to do drop-in visits morning, afternoon or evening. Soon-to-be retired for one of us, so that will increase availability quite a bit. We are not currently offering boarding in our home due to having a dog-selective large breed at this time. Happy to pet-sit in your home, usually just one of us.
