“Greta took care of my house and fur babies like they were her own. She was very considerate and went above and beyond. She gave daily updates and gave me peace of mind while on vacation. I would highly recommend her!!!”

“Melissa had great communication and took great care of our Labradoodle and Beagle. The weather was nice so our beagle was in and out constantly. Beagle shenanigans! We will definitely use Melissa again. I couldn’t provide additional feedback since it was grayed out but house was as we left it with no issues. Thank you, Melissa!”

“Another great puppy care taking from Bridget for my fur baby. She is reliable, on time, flexible and provides updates throughout her stay. Can’t recommend her enough and will continue to ask for her service. Thanks Bridget!!”

“Rachel was amazing. She was very accommodating and communicative. She treated our pets like her very own and she is definitely a dog lover. We will definitely hire her again. Thank you Rachel!!”

“Ella was great! The girls were well cared for, we received pictures and communication, and she left our home in good condition. If she will have us, we will definitely hire her again!”

“Kennedy did a great job watching our pups while we were out of town! She really treated our girls well and made sure they felt loved while we were away! She provided lots of pictures and a video of our pups playing! We will definitely ask Kennedy to take care of our pups again in the future!”

“Nicole was great! She took incredible care of our golden retriever and our home while we were away. She also gave us great advice on correcting some of our puppies anxiety, and behavior.”

About: Between having pets of my own and caring for family and friends pets, I’ll treat yours like my own! I grew up with dogs and cats. I currently have two cats of my own! As of now, my availability is open for all days and times for animal care. I am wanting to fill up my pet sitting calendar! As I have cats of my own, I do not offer care in my home. But I can do occasional over nights in yours if needed! I am very respectful of your area and am happy to tidy up after pets if needed.
About: I’ve worked at a pet store for over 2 years, and I’ve been a dog bather for about half a year. I’ve always had pets my whole life but i’ve learned so much about our fur babies in the past few years. It’s something that I can do on weekends nights, and on weekends depending on school and my work schedule. Im pretty open though on most nights! I have a fenced yard with a big german sheppard, and two black cats that roam the house. I am always with my animals to keep them company and keep up there needs.

About: I've taken care of dogs and cats since I was 10. Neighbors, friends and family have relied on me to walk, feed and bathe their pets. Growing up I had cats and dogs and was the main caretaker for my families animals. I'm currently working part-time between 2-8 pm so I'll have plenty of time to play with your pups! I'm available for boarding on weekends, and weekdays. I will keep up to date if I have work or/and a event I have to go to if it interferes with our plans. Prefer not to do my home because my 3 dogs are skittish and can intimidate your pets. For my pets safety and yours, I refuse to offer services at my home.

“Aubrey was great with our 2 dogs including one who is generally nervous around new people. She communicated well and sent great pictures! I would definitely recommend her and hire her again!! Thanks for taking such great care of them!!”

“Cheryl and her husband, Doug, were wonderful! I'm always a little uneasy at first when we have someone new staying in our home while we are gone, but I felt totally at ease the first time I met Cheryl and Doug. Their true love for dogs came shining through when they met our Ellie and Ellie loved them too! Our Ellie usually has some anxiety issues when someone new stays in our home and we are not there. This was not the case when Ellie saw that Cheryl was staying with her -- she was very excited to see both of them! Cheryl did a great job keeping me updated on how Ellie was doing and sent me many pictures which were great! I would highly recommend Cheryl and Doug to anyone looking for a responsible and caring dog sitter(s).”

“Billie did an amazing job with our babies, she was very great communication and sending pictures. I would definitely use her again. Thanks for you love care Billie”

About: I’ve lived in a home with three or more pets for my entire life, so caring for animals has always been second nature to me. I have experience with dogs of all ages, from energetic puppies to sweet senior companions, and I understand that every pet has their own unique personality and needs. I also worked at a 24-hour emergency animal hospital for over a year, where I gained hands-on experience caring for animals in a fast-paced clinical setting. I’m currently in school to become a credentialed veterinary technician, which has expanded my knowledge of animal health, behavior, and compassionate patient care. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness will always be my top priorities while they’re in my care. I am currently in-between jobs, but actively in school through Penn foster so I have a relatively open a flexible schedule with proper notification ahead of time! I currently take lewie on walks fo outdoor enrichment ant local parks or we play fetch in the house! We do monitored potty breaks in the back yard. Sadly I will not be able to bring your pet to my home as I have a very reserved shy little guy here who isn’t too kind to others and doesn’t adjust well, but I will be glad to care for your fur baby at your home!
About: I've grown up around animals. Ive wanted a cat since I knew they existed, and since getting my first cat, I've taught him to sit, sit pretty, high five, and jump through hoops. Currently fostering a second with a compromised immune system, so I am no stranger to anxious pets, or pets with a complex care system. I work a part time job and have classes from 10 am - 215 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Ive got my own cats, so ill spend at least hour and a half or so each day spending time with them and doing chores at home, anything else is free time to spend with your pet. Ive got lots of energy to play with your dog and love to cuddle. I can keep a steady schedule with food, bathroom, play, etc. Also able and willing to do routine hygiene like tooth brushing, baths, and other grooming procedures.
“Madeline was the PERFECT fit for our family! She was amazing from start to finish. We got daily updates and photos and she was so easy to communicate with. We can tell that our home and our pets were very well taken care of and we’d be happy to have Madeline back again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - South Shore
Bridget was awesome! She took great care of our two dogs and our home while we were away. She sent me updates and sent some amazing pictures of our pups to us to show us how they were doing. Will definitely use her again in the future. Great to have someone you can trust with your fur babies and home! Thanks Bridget!
Bridget was fantastic with our old men!! Felix even seems to be missing her after a week of cuddles. Dexter is pretty high maintenance in his old age and we worry about him getting good care when we leave. We felt super comfortable leaving him in Bridget’s hands and she was incredible with him! On top of taking great care of Dexter and Felix she took great care of our home. Went the extra mile and washed our dog bowls and kept everything in perfect order. We will absolutely book with Bridget again!

As of July 2026, there are 1,593 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across South Shore. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred South Shore walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in South Shore maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in South Shore choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in South Shore. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
