Salina is a great sitter. We have such peace of mind when she watches Teddy. Teddy loves her and gets so excited when she comes over. Salina is so patient and makes sure our very anxious pup is happy and comfortable!

Lindsey took such good care of our fur babies and feathered ladies. I have 2 cats, 2 German Shepherds, and 13 chickens and she gave them lots of love and attention while we were gone. We got lots of photos and check ins which put my family at ease! Will definitely be reaching out to Lindsey in the future when we want to go on vacation. 10/10! 💕

Gabbie was a great dog and house sitter! We were out of the country for ten days and I felt fully comfortable having her stay in our home and watch our dog. We came home to an immaculate house and happy pup. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for pet care in the Ann Arbor/Ypsi area.

Gabrielle took great care of our dog and cat while she was house sitting for us. She sent lots of updates, which we appreciated for peace of mind. When we returned home, our house was in excellent condition- probably even cleaner than how we left it! Overall, a great experience having her house sit for us while we were gone.

About: I’ve been a shelter volunteer for 5 years, working closely with the dogs most people struggle with the reactive ones, the jumpy ones, the bitey ones, the over-stimulated ones, and the dogs that need real structure and patience to thrive I’m used to reading body language fast and staying calm no matter what’s in front of me. Whether it’s leash pulling, overexcitement, reactivity, or lack of focus. Maybe your dog just needs more work on learning commands and learning obedience I can do that to! let me know what I can do to best help you and your dog I would love to help Pet care is already a major part of my daily and weekly routine. I have 8 birds at home and On top of that, I volunteer at an animal shelter 2–4 days a week, where I work hands on with a wide range of dogs especially high energy dogs and dogs that need extra structure and patience. That experience keeps me consistently involved in reading behavior, handling different temperaments, and staying calm in all situations. When I’m not at the shelter, I plan my schedule around Rover bookings like walks, drop-ins, and training. I make sure each visit has enough time and attention When I care for pets in a client’s home, I follow your routine that you provide so the pet stays comfortable and consistent in their environment

We can't say enough good things about Chelsey. She was absolutely wonderful with our fur baby, Gertie. It was clear from the moment we met that Gertie was comfortable and happy with her, and when we returned, it was obvious Gertie had a blast! Not only did Chelsey take incredible care of Gertie while we were out of the country, but she also left our home spotless. We truly had peace of mind knowing both our beloved pet and our house were in such capable hands. We highly recommend Chelsey and will definitely be booking her again!

About: What sets me apart is the genuine love and patience I have for all animals! I pay attention to each pets routine and needs throughout the day. And I will be keeping you updated with pictures and videos on how they are doing. I work from home and have all the free time in the world! And also don’t have any pets right now! So all my focus would be on your fur baby. Because I am home 24/7 they wouldn’t be allowed to be left alone or get into anything. We would have unlimited walks or play time!! Or if they are the fur baby that likes to relax it’s plenty of clean spots for them in my home ❤️

About: My first job was being the neighborhood pet sitter in high school and I instantly fell in love with getting to know and care for so many unique animals. While I’m new to the Rover family, family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors have trusted me with their pet family for over 10 years. I’ve cared for both cats and dogs and aquatics animals. From Turtle to Tabi cat to Great Dane! I have experienced with senior animals, puppy’s and medication administration. I’d love to chat about your pets individual needs to adapt and care for them the best way possible. When I come to run, play, walk or lounge with you pet my time with be spent loving them and making sure they’re comfortable with you’re away. Im also comfortable with taking them to dog parks. I’m a pet parent myself so my day starts and ends with my pup! I’m typically free from 9am-2:30pm before heading to work to walk, run, play or lounge with your pet. Mondays and Tuesdays I have a completely free schedule to work around for your needs. Wed-Sunday I’m free from 9am-2:30pm before heading to work to walk, run, play or lounge with your pet. I am off work between 9-10 (depends on the day) and can come back to continue care. Respecting both your home and your pets boundaries is a huge priority for me. Whatever makes your pet feel comfortable in my care comes first. I’d love to chat about what your daily routine looks like with your pet to make sure they’re best cared for

About: As a family of animal lovers, we provide a safe, caring, and fun environment for your pets. My 11-year-old and 15-year-old children absolutely love animals and enjoy helping give them attention, playtime, and plenty of affection. We have a large yard where dogs can safely run and play, and we make sure they get regular walks and exercise. Have had experience with animals, including a senior dog all my life. Pet care fits naturally into our daily routine. I work from home in the summer and have a flexible schedule in the summer (adjust as needed), which allows me to provide frequent potty breaks, feeding, playtime, and companionship throughout the day. I do not have a fence but will go out with your dog and take it for a walk. My kids look for dogs to pet and play with everywhere. Exercise is something I am trying to do in the summer, let me watch your dog and take them for a walk.

We reached out to Abby with a last minute request because our previous sitter fell through. We couldn’t have been happier! From the meet and greet, our dogs loved her. Abby reached out regularly with updates, great communication and took care of the house. I would recommend her to anyone!

So glad we found Chelsea to watch our 3 dogs while away! It was our first time having someone come into our home to check in on them while we were away vs sending them to the boarding facility and I'm very happy with how everything went. We received multiple updates each time she checked in with pictures. Most importantly though, she was willing to care for our dogs with specialized needs due to behaviors and medications and she followed everything to a "T" which we appreciate so very much! We definitely will be booking Chelsea again ☺️

FAQs for House Sitting - South Rockwood

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 1,679 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across South Rockwood. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred South Rockwood walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in South Rockwood maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in South Rockwood choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in South Rockwood. On Rover:

  • 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
