“Our princess isn't very friendly and usually hides when there's a cat-sitter around. Silver did hide this time but Mallory gradually won her over, and by the final day of the stay she put in an appearance, which is testament to Mallory's good vibes and patience. We really appreciated the easy communication with Mallory and how they were willing to accommodate our requests, for example by watering some plants. Mallory used common sense when instructions were incomplete or unclear. We were happy to receive lots of photos (Silver peeking out!) which was cute and reassuring- meaning that we could relax and enjoy the time away. We would highly recommend Mallory as a reliable, trustworthy and sensible sitter, who will do everything possible to care for your pets. Thanks, Mallory! We will no doubt be in touch the next time we are going away.”

About: Hello! I’m a recent college grad, born and raised in the MAPSO area who recently moved back home, for work in NYC! Im here looking to make long term business partnerships and connections doing what I love most, being around animals. While I am new to Rover I’m no stranger to pet care, helping take care of my family cat and dog since childhood, with our beloved dog Molly going on 15 years! I have experience caring for foster dogs and cats, including 6 Rottweiler/pug puppies, an adult Rottweiler, about 7 cats, and a mixed breed HoundDog. In addition I’ve both dog and cat sit in house for a handful of neighbors and family friends, so I’m experienced in feedings, walks, and administering medicine. I also have experience handling large dogs including a 70 pound Pitbull/American Bulldog mix, and her sister, who while smaller is a big puller! I’m very comfortable with dogs and cats of all sizes, temperaments, and ages, and would love to meet your furry family member !🐾 I’m currently working in part time 1-6 on weekdays, commuting from Maplewood NJ to Harlem NYC. I’m therefore able to do morning or evening walks in the city/MAPSO area, along with overnight stays during the week . My weekends are pretty much completely open to walks anytime of the day along with overnight stays. I offer in house care to my clients whether this be overnight or just coming in for walks and so socialization. I’m very mindful of your space and keeping this clean and as they were when I came, and am willing to work around your level of comfortability!
“Amanda was amazing with my two pups! She was super attentive and made sure they were taken care of. Gave me the ease of mind knowing they were loved while I was at work! Will definitely have her again! 😊”

“Barbara always does a great job taking care of our cats like they were her own. The updates are thorough and the pictures are plentiful. I fully endorse using her services for all your pet sitting needs.”

About: I grew up with a cat and dog and have walked or pet-sat for several breeds and sizes. I’m hoping that my time with your pet will help fill the hole of not having my pets at school with me! I’m currently attending classes at Seton Hall University and working part-time. With the way my schedule is set up, I have plenty of breaks and opportunity during the day for pet care! I grew up with a very anxious dog, so I know how to help give your pet what they need, whether that is space, attention, or anything else
“Jennie took great care of our two kitties while we were away and kept us updated with lots of photos/videos. I highly recommend her to look after your fur babies any time as she’s a wonderful sitter (and person)!”

“Mirielle showed up on time and took good care of Bootsy. She's pleasant to both dogs and their associated humans. It made a long night out more fun because we didn't have to worry about Bootsy.”

About: What sets me apart is my ability to be both caring and dependable in moments that require real attentiveness—something I’ve developed through years of working in community programs, internships, and leadership roles. Whether I was leading a team project, supporting a friend, or organizing events through my cycling club, I’ve always been someone who shows up fully and handles responsibility with care. I bring that same energy to pet care—tuning into each animal’s needs, whether it’s keeping up with an energetic puppy or being patient with a senior pet. I’m calm, communicative, and take pride in making both pets and their owners feel secure and understood. As a recent grad preparing for law school and transitioning into the workforce, my schedule is relatively flexible—especially during the weekdays. Pet care has been a grounding and fulfilling part of my routine. It gives me the chance to stay active, present, and connected in a meaningful way while balancing studying and professional goals. I genuinely enjoy the rhythm of it, and I treat every booking with the same level of care and responsibility I bring to my academic and work commitments. Whether I’m in my home or yours, I treat every pet like they’re my own. I love making sure everyone—pets and people—feels comfortable, safe, and at ease. That’s something I’ve really practiced through leading Catching Wind, the cycling and wellness club I started in college. Creating a space where people felt welcomed, supported, and looked after—whether they were riding for the first time or just needed community—taught me a lot about patience, attentiveness, and how to care for different needs. I bring that same approach to pet care. I listen closely, follow instructions, respect your space, and aim to create an environment where your pet feels loved, relaxed, and understood.
About: As a veterinary technician and proud dog mom of two Cavaliers, I understand how important it is to find someone reliable for your pets. With years of hands-on experience and a genuine love for animals, I make sure each dog or cat feels safe, happy, and cared for—just like they do at home When I’m not at the veterinary clinic, I love spending my extra time caring for pets in my community. With flexible availability during the week and weekends, I’m here to make sure your pets are safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I make sure every walk is secure, every visit is calm, and every animal feels loved and cared for. With experience in a veterinary clinic and as a dog mom myself, I know how to create a safe and happy environment for every pet I meet.
About: I’m responsible dog lover and love going on walks! Don’t mind picking up poop either! You can rest easy with your baby in my hands! I paint full time so pet care will be my second job and the pets will take most of ny attention which I don’t mind! My personal pets are taken care of with lots of love and treats! They are also taken to the vet when they need their monthly treatment. My cats receive the utmost care and attention.
“Deliris is one of the most sweetest, best person I've ever met. She really loves animals, Sasha loves Deliris very much because she was so lovable to Sasha and treated her so amazing, I will definitely use Deliris services again”

“Shirley did an incredible job looking after our two cats while we were away for the weekend. She fed and played with them and was very immediate to respond. Definitely a top quality Rover for sure.”
“Nicole did a fantastic job caring for our two cats (and our apartment) over the holidays! She was prompt and provided communicative updates. It’s easy to tell that she loves animals! Thanks Nicole!”
About: I’ve been around dogs my entire life and understand that every pet has unique needs at every stage of life. I helped care for my family’s West Highland Terrier for nearly 18 years, giving me experience with everything from energetic puppy years to the extra patience and attention senior dogs need. I also have experience caring for my parents’ young dog, dogs in my extended family and am comfortable keeping up with playful, active pets. My goal is to make every pet feel safe, comfortable, and loved while giving owners peace of mind that they’re in caring, dependable hands. I work as a public school music and performing arts teacher. I also teach private music lessons in the late afternoons (typically between 4:00 and 7:00 PM, Monday through Thursday), but I’m happy to work with clients to find times that fit their pets’ needs. Depending on location and scheduling, I may also be able to accommodate visits between lessons. I also have availability on Fridays and weekends, making it easier to provide reliable, consistent care. I believe communication is key and will always do my best to be flexible while ensuring your pet receives the attention and care they deserve. When caring for pets in your home, my priority is helping them feel comfortable by keeping them in their familiar routine. I’ll carefully follow your instructions for feeding, walks, playtime, medications (if needed), and any other preferences you have for your pet’s care. Whether your pet enjoys lots of attention or prefers a quieter approach, I’ll tailor my care to their individual personality and needs. I’ll also treat your home with the same respect I would my own, ensuring everything is left clean, secure, and just as I found it. After each visit, I’ll send updates and photos so you can have peace of mind knowing your pet is happy, safe, and well cared for.
About: Dogs have always been an important part of my life. I currently have two dogs I walk and board as well as a dog at home. I’m committed to keeping the dogs in my care safe, and making sure they are having a great time. Currently I have a pretty open schedule and could work with you on the details. Available 7 days a week, days and nights. Long term or short term. I walk the dogs two or three times a day. Often walk the woods in the reservation and use the dog park. My yard is fenced in and private. Have dog at home (Messi) who loves dogs and company. If you’re more comfortable having your pet caged, we can make arrangements for that or whatever makes you comfortable.
About: I have owned and fostered many different types of animals. I get along well with cats and dogs, and have fostered animals with special needs (bathing, ear cleaning, medication administration). I love to go on long walks and create a connection with animals. My goal is to make your’s and your pet’s lives easier by providing a safe, trustworthy, and reliable service. I currently work remotely and have a car, so I am very available for day-time walks and check ins, as well as into the evening and on weekends. I am happy to adhere to any special needs for your animals, but I’ll always be honest about what I have experience doing. I will follow all care instructions, and make sure to take the safest walking route for your dog!

Angelica did a wonderful job taking care of our two kitties, Jellybean and Sid, while we were away! Her detailed rover cards with lots of pictures really helped us feel at ease knowing that our fur babies were getting so much love and care. Would definitely book again — thank you so much!

Finding Theresa to cat-sit my two furbabies was a blessing. I’m so happy and at ease with her watching my cats! She is prompt with responses and is thorough in her care. She was able to accommodate a last-minute trip and come for a meet and greet very quickly. My cats loved her immediately, and it is evident that she cares for them as well. She made sure to get all their feeding routines down, played with them, and even cleaned the litter box. She has a real sense for cats and was able to connect with their unique personalities. :) I highly recommend Theresa if you are looking for a reliable, thorough, loving, and trustworthy pet sitter. I will definitely be booking with her again!

First time Rover user and Anya was wonderful. She popped over to play and feed our boys Mac and Mo while we went out of town for the first time since we adopted them. They warmed up to her immediately and i appreciated her attention to play time and she was also very responsive whenever I had reached out. Will definitely book her again! thanks Anya!!!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in South Orange. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
