“Michelle took great care of Snuggles as always. It is so nice to know we can go away and know she is in good hands! Michelle is our go to dog sitter!”

About: Animals have always been a huge part of my life—there has literally never been a time growing up when I didn't have a pet at home! On top of my lifelong hands-on experience, I spent all four years of high school volunteering weekly at a local animal shelter, dedicating about 8 hours a week to caring for both cats and dogs. I’d love to bring that same high level of care, patience, and love to your furry family members! I'm currently on summer break from the University of Notre Dame, so I have plenty of time to spend with your pets! I work with the Boys and Girls Club as a Youth Development Professional seasonally. I value safety over anything and will keep a close eye on your pets as much as requested. I understand what can happen if an animal is left alone for too long, and will ensure that your animals are safe and protected.

“Nicholas did an AMAZING job watching our little dachshund Moo and our apartment when we went away for a week to Hawaii! He did everything we asked and much more! Nicholas is so nice and so professional and I would recommend him to anyone! He is now our go-to dog/house sitter!”

About: Dogs are a part of my soul and will be well cared for. Including walks, playtime, food, water and a doggy door. I cannot wait to meet your pup. I am a stay at home dog Mom. I am always available unless I am running errands. I do 2 meals a day and walk in the afternoon. My pets rule the roost. I will take care of your pets as if they are my own. Also, if I am in your home I will be respectful as if it is my own.
“Lily kept our sweet dog in our home and did a great job. She sent pics and kept us updated. We felt so relieved to have found her and had a great trip knowing our dog was in such good hands. Would highly recommend her.”

“Michaela was awesome! I got lots of picture updates and she took exceptional care of our pups and home while we were gone. Everything was in order and taken well care of. I would recommend her for all of your dog sitting needs!”

“Colette is a loving, proactive and communicative star! Who better to look after your four legged children than someone who does it full time. Colette is knowledgeable and provided regular updates on our little ones. I knew they were in excellent hands and care with wonderful Colette.”

About: I have many years of experience with household animals, family/friends pets, and various types! I am fluid with service animals as well as with animals requiring special care needs! I am currently open to job opportunities and have a pretty flexible schedule for the foreseeable future. I currently have a 14 year old maltese boy Unless specified otherwise, feedings are routine and scheduled based. Any medicines that need to be administered are taken care of. I have a big backyard, unfenced but have space to let pets out and roam on a long leash.
“Samantha was very professional and responsive. She was quick to suggest a get-acquainted visit, so I was able to meet her and feel good about booking with her a couple of weeks before our trip. The day before the booking, she messaged me to confirm the time she would come the next day. As soon as she got in the house to take care of our dog, she texted a photo of him and assured us that he was doing well. She was great at communicating with us and sending pics of our pup. When we returned, the house was in great shape and our dog was calm and happy. We'll call her again!”

“Sarah was awesome. I would highly recommend her services. She took great care of our pets and house. The whole experience couldn't have been more pleasant. If you are looking for someone to watch your pets, look no further!”

About: I grew up with animals, such as dogs, rabbits, and birds. I have a love for all pets, especially dogs. Different breeds and sizes. I did two years of a dog training club in 4-H and used the information with my dog. I currently have a full time job. I would be able to care for your pets in the evenings after 6:00 pm, as well as overnight if needed. I am available most weekends. I will treat your home with respect and integrity. Please leave a note with all expectations and I will follow them to the best of my ability.
“Destiny did a fantastic job with the dog sitting over the weekend. Very communicative and everything worked out nicely. Dogs were great and she treated my house and animals with respect. It was so clean when I got back and I couldn't be happier. She said she does cleaning on the side. Next time I will take advantage of her deep cleaning while I'm gone. I know my pups loved their time with her.”

About: I worked as a pet-sitter in the Goshen area during college. I have experience with older dogs and multi-pet households. I’m happy to keep as close to your regular schedule as possible. I’ve just graduated from UND with my MFA and I am looking for a little extra income as I adjust to life post graduate school. My days are totally flexible and I am happy to work around your preferred schedule. I’ve accommodated picky eaters and older pets dealing with incontinence. No matter what the situation is, I’m ready to dive right in and make your pet feel as comfortable as possible.

About: Since I was 16, I’ve been trusted with the care of pets for my family, extended family, friends, and neighbors. I walk my own dog daily, and I have two cats of my own, so I know firsthand how to care for both dogs and cats. I’ve house-sat for a variety of pets, making sure they feel happy, active, and loved. I’m confident managing different pets and routines, and I treat every animal as if it were my own. I work from home with flexible hours, and the only times I’m usually in the office are Tuesdays and Thursdays. However, I can adjust those days if needed. I’m happy to stay at your home or work from there as long as there’s Wi-Fi. Just let me know what works best for you! In my home, my cats and dog are truly family—so they have a routine full of love, playtime, and a set schedule for meals and rest. When I care for your pets, I bring that same royal treatment to them. I make sure they have fresh food and water, plenty of play and attention, and a safe, structured environment. Whether I’m in your home or mine, I make it a priority to follow exactly what you need, while always keeping their comfort and safety first.
“Candice did a fantastic job with my pup Bo. By the pictures sent to me he appeared to be having a blast. Once she left he was one tired pup. He went to the bedroom to lay down and I hardly heard a peep out of him the rest of the day/night. Thanks for making his day fun!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - South Bend
Harmony was wonderful! She housesat for our 2 spoiled kitties and we would not hesitate to hire her again. She was incredibly responsible and communicated well with us while we were away. The cats were happy, well cared for, and in good health and spirits on our return. She also left our home incredibly tidy. We are very grateful for her!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred South Bend walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in South Bend maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in South Bend choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in South Bend. On Rover:

- 93% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
