“Onnelle did a fantastic watching our dog for a long weekend. I knew Finley was well taken care of and did not worry about her while we were away. Onnelle was communicative throughout her stay, sent updates/pictures, and left the house exactly as she found it. She was respectful of our space and I would not hesitate to book her again!”

“Sydney was fantastic! This was our first time using an in-home Rover sitter for our puppy, Theo, and she gave us complete peace of mind while we were away for six nights. She sent regular updates and photos, took great care of Theo and our home, and was very responsive throughout the stay. Our flight home was delayed, and she was kind enough to stay an extra couple of hours, which took a lot of stress off our family. We came home to a happy puppy and a house that was just as we left it. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with Sydney again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring house sitter.”

“Our Little Tux is a former feral cat and is very skittish around people other than my husband and me. Becky is a very attentive caregiver and worked with our little gal to ease her stress. We were only gone for a short trip but Becky was able to earn the trust of our young cat so that she came out of hiding. Becky is very responsive and kept us updated with both texts and photos. Thank you, Becky!”

About: I have had dogs all throughout my childhood, and whether it’s small pups or big fluffy ones, I love them all! I also love the outdoors and being active. I am currently a student and I have a lot of free time with only one job working Saturday evenings. I commonly go to the gym in the late morning but I am available mostly every day! I offer pet sitting at your own home, along with stop ins and dog walking, keeping your pet cared for and comfortable! I will carefully follow provided instructions for your pets needs.
“Debra was fantastic!! Our pup took to her right away, made him and us feel completely at ease right away. She was so accommodating to our our needs, our pup doesn't like to be alone much, and she spent so much time with him, walked him often and put up with his awful snoring at night with no complaints. We got lots of pictures and updates throughout each day which we appreciated! She came to our home for 4 days and left it in perfect shape. Highly recommend Debra, she is very kind and has a calm spirit, which our pup meshed with perfectly. We look forward to booking her again for all of our trips❤”

About: I’ve been a dog owner my entire life and have had experience owning other pets such as geckos, cats, and snakes. I’ve been a pet sitter for a little over two years. My true passion for pet sitting comes from my desire to be accompanied by them, dogs specifically. I work with dogs of all ages, temperaments, and personalities. Dogs of all backgrounds tend to gravitate towards me and I have never had any negative interactions. While studying for my undergrad, I was actually in charge of all the live animal specimens present on the University grounds. Feeding, exercise, and handling/care were done daily, which can explain my comfortability and familiarity with pet care. I currently am home as I finish my masters degree online so my daily schedule is fairly free. I workout and do part-time contract work when I am not doing schoolwork. I’m extremely flexible and will be willing to meet your needs as best as possible. Simply put, I treat the pets like they are my own. I ensure they are met with sufficient attention, exercise, nutrition, and safety while under my supervision. Minimizing stress is my biggest concern (my dog has separation anxiety so I know how it can be). I’ve found it helpful in the past to use my own dog as a bridge between myself and the client’s pet, as his presence tends to build confidence and reassurance.
“Lauren was so kind and went up to our dogs right away to greet them and get to know them. She sent us photos and updates while we were away. We would definitely use her again!”

“Debra did a great job. She sent lots of videos and pictures. Both pups loved her. It’s always tough to be so far away from our 2 dogs, but we had nothing to worry about. She also came to our house before we left on vacation so we could relax and also staying till our follow up sitter came. So we were very happy with her.”

“Haley was on time, asked important questions, and followed Sage’s routine. She also provided us updates throughout the stay, and was prompt to respond when we inquired about him. Thank you, Haley. I would definitely re-book.”

About: Whether they’re a couch potato or a ball of energy, I will match their energy! I have grown up with a zoo in my house with past experiences with ducks, goats, cats, dogs, parakeets, and even a hedgehog! We’ve always had big dogs in our house so I am very comfortable with larger breeds but I can work with pets of all sizes. I also have experience with working with senior and geriatric dogs including those with dementia. I am a graduate student which means I am often extra available during academic breaks when you might be on vacation! As a student, I have class and clinicals 2-4 days a week but will often have a pretty set schedule. It also means that I am usually extra available during academic breaks! I build trust and take things slowly with the animal so that I don’t stress them out. I can find ways or take suggestions on ways to get them to feel relaxed and safe with me. Your pets’ safety and health will be my number one priority.
“Allyson did an amazing job taking care of Moo Moo for us while we were away. I gave her a lot of advanced warning about Moo Moo not being friendly with other dogs and she followed the proper protocol necessary in order to keep Moo Moo safe. Allyson also left the house in the same condition we left it in. We would definitely book with her again in the future.”

“Emily was wonderful! She stayed at our house for the weekend to look after our dog, and he was so well cared for. We loved the updates she sent and came home to one very happy pup. Highly recommend!”

About: I've taken care of young and old dogs. I've watched family pets for years and have spent a lot of care on specialized research around animals to ensure I give them the best care I can. I love to play with them, never get bored of watching them and ass I started I pay a lot of attention to detail. I can pick up on all those little details in dogs that many sitters will miss. You could not leave your dog with a safer host. I have a very flexible and open schedule right now. I am willing to work whenever and can plan around caring for your pet. It will be my number one priority. I have an apartment that is free of pets right now so I have the space give your pet some extra room without disruption while they stay with me
“Annalize is a great provider who demonstrates compassionate care for animals. We left three dogs, two cats, two chinchillas in her care for the weekend. One of the dogs is very elderly and needs a lot of hands on care. Annalize brought it, and kept everyone cool, comfy, fed, and happy. I would recommend her highly.”

About: I’ve enjoyed taking care of pets and house sitting since 1998. I’ve had multiple pets at one time including cats, dogs, fish, and guinea pigs. I work remotely, with flexible hours. My down time activities include reading, which makes keeping an eye on furry family members easy and fun. I enjoy getting fresh air and walking which most dogs usually enjoy as well. I can work from most anywhere, so there’s no problem fitting right in to your pets familiar environment. I do need a desk to work from and somewhere to sleep if overnight care is requested.
“Cristy was wonderful with our very energetic lab mix! We truly appreciated the photos and updates. It gave us peace of mind during our night away. We came home to a happy, tired pup.”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Shermans Dale walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Shermans Dale maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Shermans Dale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
