“Julie is a god send. My pup Gracie became very ill last Sunday, and I had to go out of town for a day. Julie made both my pups feel comfortable and safe. (They told me). She administered meds, paid close attention and told me what was happening. My girl Gracie has been dealing w acute pancreatitis. I’m home now. Thank you Julie!”

“I cannot recommend Ashley enough! I have two very high-energy dogs who require a lot of attention and exercise, and she handled them with such patience, care, and love. From the moment I met her, it was clear she truly understands dogs and enjoys spending time with them. She kept us updated with photos and messages, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. When I got home, the dogs were happy, tired, and clearly well-loved. It’s not easy to find someone who can keep up with their energy, but she did it effortlessly! If you’re looking for someone reliable, caring, and absolutely amazing with dogs, look no further—we feel so lucky to have found her!”

“Hayley M has been terrific with Onyx! She sends us updates with pictures/videos and we can see he is comfortable with her. Her adoration of animals and care for details definitely shows in our dog’s happy attitude and calm demeanor whenever he’s around her. We also love that she’s very responsive and how easy it is to talk to her or makes some changes to the plans. She’s been a lifesaver for us & Onyx while we’re away!!”

“Christopher is a true dog lover and I feel fortunate to have found him to take care of my pack whenever I’m not around. I have a lot of attendant anxiety when trying to pair my dogs with a suitable sitter- for no other reason than that they need a lot of exercise and ask for a lot of attention. Christopher alleviated every ounce of attendant stress experienced by leaving my dogs in someone’s care. He took my dogs on outings, updated me with charming photos and was completely unflappable when it came to managing two high energy and young labs along with a corgi who needs to herd everyone to feel fulfilled. On top of all of this, Christopher took excellent care of my home- maybe even leaving it cleaner than I did for him. 5 stars for Christopher, absolutely!”

“Diana was very communicative from the start, came by to meet the ‘kids’ and followed through extremely well with all instructions. She also got back with updates, which was important, with having an older dog on medication. I highly recommend Diana!”

About: Dogs have been a part of my life for over 10 years! My family and friends have entrusted me with the care of their pets whether that be a doggy beach day, a doggy pamper day or even just to hang out with their pup! I work from home Monday and Friday and I am able to adjust my own schedule to fit in dog walks, play time, feeding time, or whatever have you! My schedule revolves around my doggo! I have a super friendly dog, Shabba, who loves meeting other dogs and running around with them. I love taking dogs on walks or runs to the beach where they can get a lot of play time in :)
“I always worry my dogs will be such a handful for Erik but he always reassures me they are doing fine and he doesn't mind the chaos that is my pack! I hope he loves the dogs as much as I know they love being with him!”

“Lacey is amazing!! She sent so many pictures while I was gone, which I really appreciated and my dogs were very happy to have her! Thank you Lacey. I will definitely book again ?”

“Julia was truly incredible with my dog Charlie while I was away in Europe. From the moment they met, I could tell she had a natural, instinctive connection with him. She stayed at my home, which helped Charlie feel completely at ease, no signs of anxiety at all. She took him on long walks and spent real quality time with him every day. It was so comforting to know he was in such loving and capable hands. I came home to a happy, relaxed pup. I wouldn’t hesitate to book Julia again!”

“Dorothy was amazing! She was so helpful with the animals and helping with medications as well as sending updated photos a few times a day. Great communication and very friendly and warm. She also left the house spotless and as clean as I left it! Absolutely would rehire!”
About: Aloha! My name is Luna and I have 4 dogs. I have experience with training dogs as well. My furry children are all trained by me and they can walk off leash. Animals are my passion. Walking: I love to run with dogs to get my exercise in, but walking is always great! I have walked dogs for 10 years now. Home Visit: I follow directions. Will take the dog/s out to pee and play for a little if needed and give them lots of love. Definitely play with your kitties and get you as many action shots as possible. As well as snuggles. I’m currently a stay at home mama! I have a pretty open schedule. Weekends are always the best for me, but I can do week days if needed. I follow house rules that are given. Due to the fact that I now have an infant I no longer am caring for dogs in the comfort of my home, but I’m more than happy to take your pup on walks or check in on them
“Rosemary was incredibly accommodating, receptive, followed instructions well, and ensured our dogs were safe and happy. I would highly recommend her and would book again. Thank you for your great care!”

About: I grew up in a neighborhood my friends used to call “the farm”. We had 3 dogs, one neighbor had chickens, one neighbor had horses, and another neighbor had goats. Along with various dogs and cats at each house. Because I was the oldest kid in the neighborhood, I was the go-to person anytime a neighbor needed a house sitter or even just needed me to feed their pet dinner since they were out late. When I got older and started driving, I began dog sitting for our large group of friends, taking care of all sizes of dogs, cats, and the occasional reptile. Although I work part-time, I am generally available 7 days a week for house sitting. I am willing to accommodate crazy schedules and last minute plans if need be. I have a small home but a big yard, so while I can’t accommodate boarding, I have a large outdoor space and my own pup that is eager for play dates during the day. As for house sitting, I provide attentive, personalized care in my client’s home so your pets can stay comfortable in their familiar environment. I follow each pet’s routine closely. With my history in the animal health field, I am comfortable administering any medications if needed. As a person who values communication, I provide regular ‘pupdates’ and pictures so owners feel confident their pets are happy, safe, and well cared for.
“Alex took great care of our house, elderly dog and young cat. He was very responsive and kept us updated during the trip. Would highly recommend Alex to take care of pets and house!”

“My husband and I loved Michaela taking care of our two corgis. She has dog magic that's for sure! We had just moved from out state, and our dogs were stressed of course from all the months of packing and travel. Our older dog is pretty much a couch potato not wanting much activilty at all. The reason I say Michaela has dog magic is because when the dogs met her, they immediately began their wonderful playful dog dance with each other around the house. She sent us videos each day of the dogs and it was delightful to see our older dog so inspired to go out and have some good fun he hasn't felt like in a long time. We love Michaela, our dogs love Michaela! This was our first time having a pet sitter, and she made it wonderful experience for us and the dogs.”

“Julia, was the best fur baby sitter yet! Our dog Lola absolutely ❤️❤️❤️’s her so much! She gives her the happy Dance, butt wiggle, groans of joy! Our cat, gives her kisses and Julia, gives us lots of updates with photos and all. We will definitely be booking with her again. You should too!”

FAQs for House Sitting - Sanitarium
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Sanitarium on Rover is $83.25 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 1,353 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Sanitarium. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sanitarium walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sanitarium maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sanitarium choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sanitarium. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
