“Stephen is a great dog sitter. I would recommend him for any person looking for a local Salem dog sitter, especially if you desire consistent updates on how your dog is doing.”

About: My family has always had dogs and I have owned my own dogs and a cat since I moved out on my own. I have cared for senior dogs w/medical issues also. My first dog as an adult lived to be 15 and was an insulin-dependent diabetic since she was 9. I have experience administering insulin, measuring blood sugar, etc. I have also fostered dogs and puppies and done quite a bit of successful training (house, crate, place, leash). I work full-time, but I do work from home most of that time. I do have to go into the office about twice a week for classes, but my time is flexible and I do not have to spend the whole day in the office. I live in my own home w/ 2 dogs and a cat (senior neutered female dog, 2 year old neutered male dog and 6-year-old neutered cat). I have a large 6 foot privacy fence in my backyard, which is about 900 square feet on a corner lot. My dogs love my backyard.

About: I’ve been taking care of dogs and cats my whole life with family pets, but I’ve had my own for 10 years. My animals are family, and I promise to treat yours the same. I have experience taking care of puppies and kittens (my husband and I have fostered 2 litters of kittens), and have a rescue pit-mix. I am also experienced with taking care of animals who are anxious as I had to work through that with my dog. My friends rely on me to take care of their animals when needed. I’m currently working full time as a teacher, but my schedule is pretty flexible during the summer. Right now, during the week I can drop by in the late afternoon/evenings, or any time on the weekends. During the summer, I can drop by any time during the week! I have a fenced yard and a dog that gets along will with others! If I do house sitting, I stay at the house and spend as much time there with your pet as possible.

“We can’t think of enough superlatives to describe our experience with Kyra. Our dog has separation anxiety and isn’t the sharpest stick in the park. She sent us lots of updates and photos. He was happy and healthy when we picked him up. We felt very confident trusting our guy with her after watching her walking him during our initial meeting. You can tell she’s a positive trainer in addition to boarding. She was recommended by our trainer and we will 100% book with her again. It was a great experience!”

“julia was the sweetest!! she checked in multiple times a day and my dog had an amazing time with her. he is very anxious and she took lots of time and care with him. she is the best dog sitter and i would absolutely recommend her!!🩷”

“I was very nervous about leaving Riley and Ruby with a stranger but Debbie made sure they were comfortable at her house before their six night stay. Debbie sent pictures and updates periodically during their stay. I will definitely contact Debbie if I ever need a sitter in the future!”

“Would recommend Marie without hesitation. We left our two boys with her for a week and they seemed very happy and comfortable just like they would be at home. Marie would send daily pictures and updates. She cared for them as her own and that really helped put my mind at ease while I was away.”

“Our dog was well taken care of! I the past he has been anxious-shredding up his bed and not eating- when staying away from his home. Not with Gabe! He ate and enjoyed walks, snuggles and even a new doggy friend! Thank you Gabe!”

“Christina is wonderful!!! She and her husband both loved my dog. My boy is very nervous, and they did all they could to make him feel comfortable. He wouldn't eat the first night, so Christina sat next to him and hand fed him! The next day, while on a walk, he slipped out of his collar (this is in no way her fault- I didn't make sure it was tight, as he's never tried this before. He has seen our old dog do it before, so maybe he learned it from him.) Christina called us and then immediately began looking for him. She scoured the neighborhood and put up tons of signs. I believe she was supposed to go to work that day (her husband was staying home with my dog), but I guess she called in and took the day off so she could look for my dog. Her husband searched, as well. Christina felt just awful. I tried to tell her not to feel guilty, but you can imagine how badly she felt. She is a wonderful person. When I got home and started putting posts on Craigslist, the local shelter sites, the local Facebook lost pets page, etc., EVERY site I went to, I found a post that Christina and Joshua had already put up for my dog. The next day, she and her husband were out looking again. I met several people in the neighborhood and began to hand them fliers, and most of them said that Christina and Joshua had already talked to them. I found my dog- he had finally returned to just a few houses away from Christina's house! Christina and Joshua were both so relieved. I hope this experience doesn't make her shy away from pet sitting, though, because she is so sweet and wonderful with dogs. She will take GREAT care of your pet!!!!! I will definitely use her again, but maybe I should ease my dog into it and just have him go to her for day care a few times first so he can get used to her and realize that I'll come back for him. He's always been a nervous boy, and we just moved to Oregon, so he's just not sure what's going on. I had him microchipped after I found him and I'll put a harness on him for next time! :)”
