Sydney is exceptional! She is extremely conscientious and considerate and has a wonderful way with animals. Our dog is very anxious in new situations and with new people. She warmed up to Sydney quickly and became relaxed and happy. That hasn’t happened very often so we know that Sydney is special! Sydney also graciously helped us out during a weather emergency. She is the best!

Cali did amazing with our 3 cats and us being out of the country. She did great with our 1 very difficult cat. Kept 2 separate from one, so no fighting. They warmed up to her better than expected. Cali gave wonderful daily updates, pictures. This was our first time using this app and our first time leaving our babies. I felt very comfortable! Cali was respectful to our home as well! We are extremely satisfied!!

She was awesome! Sent us lots of pictures of our pup and cat, kept track of when our pup went out and what she did outside, and when/what they ate. Most importantly, our pets seemed very happy in her care. Definitely would like to book with her again!!

She took lots of great pictures, and was very responsive to messages! We definitely will be using her for any future bookings, as she kept my nerves at bay and loved them as they were her own!

I went on vacation for two weeks and had arranged for Noah and Jullieth to house sit my 2 dogs while I was gone. Noah works from home and Julieth cares for their 1 year old so “my kids” had constant attention whether it was going for walks, playing or simply hanging out watching TV. It gave me peace of mind knowing my dogs were at home rather than in a kennel or somewhere that they weren’t familiar with. For me that is priceless! I was very impressed with the GREAT communication they provided. Plenty of photos were shared with me and it was as if my dogs were on vacation as well! When I got back I was pleased to see they left my place clean and spotless! Prior to me leaving they stopped over a couple times discussing any questions they or I had to make the transition as smooth as possible. They also agreed to help out by watering my flowers, some trees I transplanted and even mowing the lawn! To sum it up I would highly recommend them! They did an amazing job and I wouldn’t hesitate using them again the next time I’m away.

Leora is a professional. She was excellent with my giant breed puppy, who can be a lot! She was trustworthy, left the house picked up; even washed her bedding and took out the garbage! It is nice not to have to worry about your pet or your home when you are gone. We will absolutely use her again!

We were really nervous to have someone come watch our two dogs (one with special needs) while we were on vacation for 4 days. We typically have my mother watch them so we knew noone that we felt comfortable with and that felt comfortable taking care of our dogs that would be able to stay if we took a vacation. We found Katie on Rover and are so glad we did and appreciate all the wonderful care she's given to our dogs! We felt much more at ease and could actually enjoy our time away as she gave multiple updates and sent pictures. We will be having Katie watch our dogs again and again!

About: I've been working in the veterinary field for almost 6 years and have had pets all my life. I am competent and confident in animal behavior and experience in handling. Additionally I can administer medications and take on care of senior pets. I currently work full-time at a veterinary clinic. If your pet is crate trained and is okay through the day when you're away I can accommodate a stay during the week. Otherwise, ideal days to board with me would be Saturday - Sunday. I can accommodate more frequent potty breaks and playtime these days. I have a fenced in yard and keep two kennels in my house to accommodate one small/medium and one medium/large dog. I prefer to only watch one additional dog at a time, but can be accommodating if you provide an extra kennel. I require proof of up-to-date vaccination for Rabies, distemper combination (Dalpp), and bordetella. Proof of a negative fecal is required. Flea/tick treatment is recommended, as any pets found with fleas will be treated at owners expense or requested to end their stay early. Your pet will be required to have an at home visit with me prior to first stay. I have one dog and three cats and it's required that your pet is animal friendly.

About: I’ve been caring for dogs and cats for over a decade and have experience with pets of all ages, sizes, and personalities. My services include dog walking, drop-in visits, and overnight house sitting, and I always treat every pet as if they were my own. In addition to caring for pets for family, friends, and clients, I recently provided ongoing care for a dog twice a week over several months. I’ve worked with both small and large dogs, as well as a variety of cats, and have experience handling different energy levels, temperaments, and routines. As a former cat foster, I’m especially attentive to each animal’s individual needs and understand the importance of patience, consistency, and compassionate care. Whether your pet needs a long walk, playtime, companionship, feeding, medication reminders, or simply a reassuring presence while you’re away, I’m committed to keeping them safe, happy, and comfortable. I know how much trust it takes to leave your pet in someone else’s care, and I take that responsibility seriously. My goal is to provide reliable, loving care and give you peace of mind knowing your pet is in good hands. I am a full time online student, so my schedule is very flexible and I can accommodate most needs. Just let me know what’s best for you! I will ensure to follow all instructions given whether that’s food restrictions, crating your dog, being outside or playing for x amount of minutes etc.

Kirsten was amazing with my 2 sweet pups! She sent me lots of pictures and videos which was great because I rarely leave them for long periods of time. She kept me well informed the whole time on how things were going. Kirsten was also very sweet and professional at the meet and greet, so I felt comfortable with her as did my pups. She is definitely worth booking with! I would book with her again in a heartbeat!

About: WE'VE MOVED! Same great care, new location featuring a larger home and more land to play :) We are an active family with 3 children (and one on the way) who love to play outside, take long walks, and even run with our dog. Animals are well-loved in our home and welcome on the furniture. I would love to include your pet in any exercise needs as well! We are available for walking pets before 8 am and after 4:30 p.m. every day. I can also do mid-day drop-ins if located in the Wausau area (best if northeast side of Wausau as I work in the Industrial park or near Merrill since my husband works there). We have a 3500+ sq foot house and 10 wooded acres, so there is plenty of room for more pets to house overnight. My kids absolutely love playing ball and walking the dog, too! We have an energetic black lab who loves to play. I believe in being active and playing as much as possible with my family (but am totally ok watching dogs who love to nap :) ).

FAQs for House Sitting - Rothschild

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Rothschild on Rover is $32.7 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 92 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Rothschild. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Rothschild walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Rothschild maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Rothschild choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
