I booked Samantha on my first day after moving to area. This was such a relief to have my dog out of the moving shuffle and with someone who took such great care of him. Would love to continue to use her!

Kimberly was absolutely phenomenal and so kind! Our senior fur baby has a lot of extra needs, so we’ve always put date days aside to ensure we wouldn’t have to leave her home alone. From the first text interaction with Kimberly to meeting in person - we knew that we found someone we could trust! We got picture updates throughout the day, and each care instruction we provided was taken very serious. We will definitely be trusting Kimberly with our fur baby in the future. Thank you SO much!

About: I've been around animals my entire life, so I'm very comfortable caring for pets of all ages and personalities. I understand how important it is to keep them on their normal routine and make sure they feel safe, happy, and loved while you're away. I also have experience dog sitting three dogs for an entire month, which taught me how to manage multiple pets at once while keeping up with feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and giving each dog the attention they needed. I'm dependable, patient, and will treat your pets like they're my own. I'll provide plenty of love, exercise, and regular photo updates so you can feel confident that they're in good hands. Pet care is a natural part of my daily routine, and because I have a very flexible schedule, I'm able to give pets the time and attention they deserve. Whether it's walks, playtime, feeding, or just keeping them company, I'll make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and loved while you're away. I'm available throughout the week, including weekdays and weekends, and can easily adapt to your pet's routine. I'll also send regular updates and photos so you can feel confident knowing your pet is in good hands. I have two friendly, loving dogs who enjoy being around other pets, as well as a cat who mostly keeps to himself. My home has plenty of space for pets to relax and play. While my backyard isn't fenced, all outdoor time is supervised, and dogs will always be kept on a leash to ensure their safety.

About: I love caring for dogs and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and happy while their owners are away. I’m patient with dogs of all sizes and personalities and always follow feeding schedules, provide regular potty breaks, playtime, and plenty of attention so every dog feels at home. I currently have a very flexible schedule and am available most days of the week, including weekends. This allows me to give pets plenty of attention, regular potty breaks, walks, and playtime throughout the day. I’m happy to work with different schedules and last-minute bookings whenever possible I make sure every pet feels safe, comfortable, and well cared for. Since I don’t have a fenced yard, I take dogs on regular walks for exercise, potty breaks, and fresh air. I also provide plenty of attention, playtime, and follow the pet’s normal feeding schedule and routines. My goal is to make pets feel relaxed and at home while their owners are away.

About: I began volunteering at my local animal shelter at the age of 9 and have been caring for animals ever since. I have 20 years experience pet sitting for neighbors and I have my own 6 year old pitbull, Cleo, so I’m no stranger to energetic dogs. I’m a teacher, so my summers give me full flexibility to care for your animals! I love to walk dogs on local greenways and trails. SCHOOL YEAR UPDATE: I’m still happy to provide boarding, walking, and drop in visits outside of school hours. I am unable to be home or care for pets from 7am-3pm each day. If your dog can be left for 8 hours, boarding continues to be available during the school year. I have a fenced in backyard where your dog can play. If they like to play with a buddy, my dog will be their best friend!

About: My own pets are my entire heart, I know how stressful it can be searching for someone to love your baby while you’re busy! I would like to add my pets DO stay with my family full time when I am with yours! I ensure that I will treat your pet with the best care of my ability, striving to make them as comfortable as my own. I have previous experience working in a vet, as well as experience in a doggy daycare holding a roll as a behavioral trainer. I have no bigger passion than the one I hold for animals, and I truly feel lucky to be able to work with them. A little about me personally, I am saving to take courses through the Karen Pryor Academy so I can become a registered dog trainer. I am currently pursuing pet services as a complete source of employment, so I can be with your pets full time!! I love to spend time hiking, at the beach, or snuggled up with my own animals(or yours!) watching a good movie. Pet care IS my schedule.I can come for visits at ANY time! If I am scheduled for house sitting, I will be with your fur babies full time!! *Note, if I am scheduled for a check in or walk while I am house sitting for you, would be gone 5 hours or less. I WOULD be with your pet the entire night! I hope to leave your home better than when I arrive, as I hold great respect for people allowing me into their spaces and trusting me with their furry family. I am more than happy to take them on adventures or keep them snuggled up in the house. I do currently work Monday thru Friday 8-4 with quite a bit of flexibility. I have made my service area smaller so that I can stay close to my job and be able to tend to the needs of coming home on lunch, going in late, leaving early, or anything that I can do to make it work with your babies! I try to make sure to follow the routine they are used to so everyone feels as comfy as possible. I always require a meet before the time of me coming over so you get a good understanding of me as a person and I have no confusion on the best ways to take care of your babies.

About: I've had a 91 lb labradoodle from puppy to now for about 4 years. I've also been told that my cat adopted me about 1.5 years ago. My dog is a happy go lucky guy who's never met a person or animal he didn't like. My cat is about 15 years old and requires injectable medication twice a day, so nothing scares me when it comes to medication. I've taken care of the odd African Grey Parrot from time to time as well. I take my dog out every morning, lunch time and several times in the evening for walks and play. Our cat needs medicine twice a day that requires an injection so I'm well versed in providing medication and taking care of animals with special needs. There's a giant pop up blocking what this field is meant to say but it's saying I have to fill it in, perhaps I can update it later when the pop up is gone.

Our previous sitter told me they are moving, which prompted me to search for a new sitter. I decided to try Rebecca, and am I glad I did! I was happy with our first sitter, but LuLu spent her time there just sniffing their yard and snuggling up on the couch with the sitter. She barely ate and wouldn't play with their dog. It was such a delight to see how happy LuLu was at Rebecca's place. She ran around the yard like I haven't seen her do since she was a puppy. When Rebecca thought LuLu needed a rest and brought her inside, LuLu whined to go back out, so out she went for more running around! Finally, she took a nap on the couch, then got up and ate all of her dinner. Then she settled down chewing on her toy until we came back for her. She was happy to see us, but gave Rebecca a tail wag when they said goodbye. I'm so glad LuLu found a place where she can thrive when we're gone. Now I won't hesitate to book a vacation! Rebecca was very attentive to the history I gave her about LuLu and my instructions about her routine and fears. We did a Meet & Greet on short notice, and Rebecca showed LuLu and me her back yard and inside her house. She assured me that she would never give LuLu an opportunity to run away. The way Rebecca gave me updates all day long assured me that LuLu was being well cared for and was having a great time. Rebecca is definitely Lulu's new sitter. I couldn't be happier with her care.

About: We enjoy having a dog. We do walks, sniff games, chicken broth ice cubes for happy hour in our fenced in yard. We want your dog to feel like they are on vacation when they are with us. They might be spoiled when we give them back. Sorry about that. My husband is fully retired and I have a hybrid position. At least one person will be home to attend to your fur babies needs. We enjoy taking care of a dog. There are no children or pets in our non smoking home. We have a fenced in yard and a nice neighborhood for taking walks. We also have an Apple air tag to put on your dogs collar. We enjoy being outside with your dog in the yard.

About: There have also been pets in my house and I have also made myself available to pet sit for friends and family. I am flexible in when and how to care for your smallest or largest family member. I am a runner so I would love to have a buddy join me on a run, jog, or even a walk. I can care for your pup at my house or your house which ever one you would be comfortable with. At the moment I can be open anytime of the week, and visiting houses multiple times in the day to ensure that your furry friend feelings loved and cared for throughout the day. Whether that's a potty break, a snack, or a big ole tummy rub. I’m a teacher on summer break though I do have a part time evening job that starts at 430 my husband comes home at 4 and probably loves dogs even more than me. I have a large fenced backyard and plenty of room in my house for exploring. We do have a small rescue Chihuahua, but she is friendly and very kind.

About: Hello and thanks for considering me to care for your pampered pet. My name is Laurie. I am a work at home mom and avid animal lover. I have spent 20 years rescuing, loving and caring for not only my own beloved pets, but for friends and neighbors as well. I also have fosters or rescues stay for a bit from time to time. I will provide everything necessary to ensure your fur baby is safe, well cared for and loved during their time with me. I offer your pet individual attention and treatment similar to what they receive with you so they feel safe, happy and comfortable. If you allow, they can sleep in the bed, on the couch, on the floor or in a kennel if thats what they are accustomed to. They can be fed on a schedule or food can be left down. They get plenty of petting, snuggles and play time while with me. We may play fetch, play with toys, go for a walk, chew bones and enjoy treats periodically. I try to keep the routine as close to yours as possible. Not something a kennel can provide. I am self employed and work from a laptop, so my schedule is extremely flexible to accommodate your needs. Just let me know what your needs are. I offer boarding in my home as well as drop in and overnight stays in yours to make things as easy as possible for you.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Doggy Day Care in Roanoke on Rover is $30.34 per day (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

As of July 2026, there are 141 sitters on Rover offering Doggy Day Care across Roanoke. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Roanoke commute.

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.

A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.

Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:

  • For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
  • For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
  • For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.

Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 141 sitters in Roanoke, 84% respond to messages in under an hour.

You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
