“A last minute booking on my end and Nicole was a lifesaver! Swooping in to watch my fur baby and deliver such care, attention, love and adventure. I’m very lucky to have stumbled across such a good caretaker.”

“As a first-time dog daycare user, I was filled with worry, but Thea went above and beyond anything I could have imagined. I'm confident that it was a wonderful experience for my dog, Chester, as well. It's hard to put into words how touching the experience was. I am so grateful to Thea, and I have no doubt about her love for dogs. As long as she's available, I will continue to entrust her with Chester.”

“Balaji and Sanna are truly the best. Continuous and unconditional love is given to our sweet Penny. We never worry when she is with them. We undoubtedly trust them and are extremely pleased with how amazing and wonderful they sincerely are.”

“So happy to have found Marta. The Meet and Greet was great, it was comforting to know that Kenzie would be in an environment similar to home, which is exactly what I was looking for. I used Marta for daycare a few days and it was so sweet to receive updates and pics. I already rebooked Kenzie for boarding!”

“Michael took such good care of my dog Jordan. Jordan has a few health issues and Michael was able to administer his medication on time. He also sent me pictures and updates during the day. Jordan loved his stay with Michael and his family. Would definitely have him stay again in the future Thank you Michael!”

“Julie has been an accommodating and loving caregiver to our Bella. Bella really seems to enjoy her time at Julie's place. She will be our first-choice sitter whenever we need a caregiver for Bella. Thank you Julie!”

About: I just graduated from UMass Amherst with a degree in Pre-Veterinary Science. I have grown up with pets and taken care of them for years! I’ve had dogs, cats, chickens, hamsters, guinea pigs, and fish! I have a lot of experience taking care of animals as I’ve interned at a zoo and volunteered at shelters and vet clinics. I’m very comfortable giving medications to pets as I’ve had a lot of practice with this with my own pets and while sitting! I am currently on summer break so I should be available all day unless I have it blocked off on my calendar! I plan to travel around the end of summer and move out of Illinois in the fall. My house has one kitten, and my backyard is not fenced in. I’d love to take care of your pet in either your home or mine, whichever is easiest!
“This house is the definition of love. My dog loves to be around this family and is such a humble experience to know that Uma is so happy to go and spend time with them. Space is super clean, yard is so big and they simply love animals. I came across angels and I’m very very grateful for them!”

Your pet’s comfort and safety always come first. I take time to learn each pet’s personality, routines, and boundaries so they feel secure and cared for. I have experience with cats of all ages, including kittens, seniors, hospice kitties, and cats needing medication. For dogs, I’ve worked with different breeds, sizes, and temperaments through Heartland Animal Shelter. “Amy and Lamar were awesome taking great care of my energetic GSP. Lots of photos and communication kept me in the loop all day. I came home with a tired pup which is the best indicator of a fun day!!!”

“Trust her with my eyes closed ❤️ My doggy loves Antonina and happy every time he sees her. Amazing home and amazing service, watched and took care of him as if he was her own.”

About: I owned a cat for 16 years and most recently a dog for almost 16! Not ready for another of my own just yet, but missing the cuddles and walks! As a teacher my school year is winding down. I will be available starting Tues. June 9, daily, for the whole summer. Hope to get a chance to spoil your pet soon! I have a fenced in side yard area that dogs can use throughout the day. I also have my own crate that a dog can sleep in, as well as my own litter box for cats to use.
About: I’ve been a dedicated pet parent to a Golden Retriever since she was just 8 weeks old, so I understand firsthand the love, patience, and consistency pets need to thrive. From house training and crate training to daily walks, playtime, and vet visits—I’ve been hands-on every step of the way. I’m experienced with energetic puppies, know how to keep them mentally and physically engaged, and I treat every pet as if they were my own. I work from home and I am available for your pets need all day. Pet care is a natural part of my daily routine. From morning walks to evening playtime, I prioritize keeping pets active, happy, and well-cared. In my home, pets enjoy a calm, pet-friendly space with lots of attention and love. While I don’t have a fenced yard, I take them on regular walks to a nearby park for exercise and play. They’ll also have the chance to socialize with my gentle, well-behaved Golden Retriever.
“Daphne had a fabulous time with Svitlana! I was somewhat of a nervous wreck since my dog was attacked a few months ago by another dog and Svitlana was attentive to our needs and made sure Daphne still had a great time! HIGHLY recommend her!”

About: Dog mom for 30 years giving love and care to dogs. I am organized, I follow a schedule, I love walking dogs and I have a high degree of responsibility. I have the flexibility to accompany them when you can't be at home with them. I have flexible schedule during my day because I have my kid at the school and I am flexible in my work. Also I can go at nights if the owner request. I think the pets feel more comfortable in their home. But if the owner feels the dog will be comfortable in my place, I can take of them in my home.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Riverwoods
When Hannah says she is a professional, she is not kidding! The most amazing home for all dogs and great communication. Our it was exhausted after so much play time and had such a fun time at Hannah’s house. I could not recommend her more for your dogs to be safe, loved and cared for. 5 stars!!

Kate was wonderful with Penny! We needed a quiet environment for her with human companionship and attention for a day of doggie daycare and that’s exactly what Kate provided. We just relocated from out of state a couple weeks ago and Penny has been struggling emotionally with the transition and with being away from me during my workdays for the first time. We had tried a big doggie daycare but they were too noisy and impersonal and it was difficult for Penny there. With Kate, Penny was immediately at ease and spent her day staying close and trying out all the different lounging spots she had to offer, even up on the back of the couch! Hehe. Clearly Penny was comfortable there. They went for walks and Kate shared pics and updates which put my mind at ease and allowed me to focus on my work. She was also available at the last minute when another sitter canceled on us unexpectedly. I am so grateful for Kate and will definitely bring Penny back again!

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
