“Kim was amazing!! We have two big dogs and she did so well with them and making them comfortable while we were gone. Great communicator, super reliable, amazing dog friend, 12/10 would book again!”

“Extremely grateful for Carolina. Worked around my schedule last minute to watch my dog in my house for a week. Dependable, responsible, and trustworthy. Added bonus of also being very communicative. Highly recommend”

About: Hi, I'm Miranda, a lifelong animal lover with over 20 years of experience in pet care, including in-home sitting and drop in visits for cats and dogs and even the occasional exotic fish or bird. Based in North Port, Venice and Sarasota areas. I believe pets thrive best in their own familiar environment—free from the stress of kennels or boarding facilities. That's why I specialize in personalized, overnight in-home pet sitting, ensuring your furry family member gets the love, exercise, and routine they crave while you're away. I've fostered many rescues in my home. I have skills in everything from oral medication administration to basic behavioral training. Whether it's daily walks in the neighborhood, playtime with toys, or cozy cuddle sessions on the couch, I tailor my care to your pet's unique personality and needs. I also provide daily photo and video updates so you can stay connected! Past clients rave about my reliability and the peace of mind I bring. When I'm not watching fur babies, you'll find me at the beach, hanging out with my 2 rescue pups or adventuring. Ready to book a meet-and-greet? Message me! Let's keep your pet happy, healthy, and home—where they belong! 🐾 Looking for a reliable sitter in Gulf Gate? I work locally Mon–Thu and can easily swing by for drop-ins before, during, or after my workday. I’m also happy to stay at your place! I’ll be out of your house during the day for work, but I make it a priority to come home at lunch to check on your fur babies and make sure they’re doing great. I’ve been a dedicated animal lover and sitter for over two decades! My journey began on a Colorado ranch where I looked after everything from pups to poultry (and the occasional iguana). Since then, I’ve spent years fostering dogs and building a loyal base of repeat clients who trust me with their homes and 'fur babies.' You can count on me to provide the same love and care I give my own pets, while always leaving your home exactly as I found it—clean and tidy

“Genie did a great job taking care of Susa. She very kindly arrived earlier when we realized the concert started earlier then we had thought. We recommend Genie and will use her help again!”

“Christina was amazing!!! She sent pictures every day and let me know when something was wrong with my dog! She made us feel very comfortable on our wedding weekend. We will definitely be requesting her again!! :)”

“Rabekah was fabulous. Responded quickly and professionally to all communications, very sweet with our dogs, and went above and beyond in so many ways. We have one difficult dog that she won over quickly, and was patient with any additional needs. Will definitely book again.”

“Debbie took great care of Moxie. I'm always nervous leaving my girl with a new sitter, but Debbie put me right at ease. Her two dogs are sweet and calm and it was great for Moxie to have companions. If your dog is nervous, she has ways to keep them separated. I appreciated the daily updates, photos, and videos and reassurance so I could relax and enjoy my business trip. I will definitely leave Moxie in Debbie's care again.”

“Megan is a lifesaver! We have never left our puppy before and wanted to travel for our daughter’s graduation in NYC. We never had to worry for a minute. So grateful she stayed at our home with both dogs. We highly recommend Megan to home sit.”

About: What sets me apart is that I genuinely care about making both pets and owners feel comfortable. I know how much trust it takes to leave your pet and home with someone else, and I treat that responsibility with a lot of care. I’m patient, reliable, and attentive to the little details that help pets feel secure, from keeping their routine consistent to giving them the right mix of affection, space, and structure. I also write everything down and make sure I have the routine down to a T. I’m comfortable with pets who have different personalities and needs, whether they’re shy, anxious, energetic, senior, or still learning the rules. I have been around large dogs as well as smaller dogs and cats all my life. I can comfortably handle all sizes of pets. I follow instructions closely, communicate clearly, and always try to care for pets the way I would want someone to care for my own. I pride myself on being deeply organized and always giving 100 percent, as well as being an open communicator. I’m also happy to send regular updates and photos so you can feel at ease while you’re away. My goal is to make your time away as stress-free as possible for both you and your pet. Pet care fits well into my current daily and weekly routine because I have a flexible schedule and am able to plan my day around each pet’s needs. I’m happy to follow your pet’s normal routine as closely as possible because I know consistency can make a big difference, especially when their owner is away. I care for pets in their own home because I know many pets feel safest and most comfortable in a familiar environment. When I’m in a client’s home, I treat both the pet and the space with the same respect and care I would want from someone caring for my own home. Safety and trust are very important to me. I’m very mindful of each pet’s personality and comfort level. Some pets want attention and playtime right away, while others need patience, space, and a calm presence. I do my best to meet each pet where they are and keep their routine as normal as possible. I also take caring for someone’s home seriously. I keep things clean, tidy up after pets, respect the client’s space, and communicate clearly if I notice anything unusual.

About: I have years of experience with dogs big and small, reptiles and pocket pets. I have a 11 month Coonhound mix that I rescued from Nate’s and I spoil him everyday. I’ve volunteered as Veterinary Assistant at the HSSC animal clinic, worked in a dog daycare and boarding facility for over a year. I have experience working with dogs with medical attention. The last 3 years I had a Boston(Sailor) with Epilepsy and would give medication around the clock and experienced with recognizing and handling seizures. Your loved pets are my new family. I’m currently part time and have a flexible schedule. Lots of my mornings and afternoons are free to take care of your pups needs like meals, medication, play time and walks. Or just to have the company of another! I have a friendly playful dog that can keep them company and play. I enjoy going to the park when the weather allows it so we can get fresh air and exercise. I like to leave the tv on nature channel with relaxing sounds to keep them comfortable if I’m not around. When it seems they are getting board I like to give enrichment toys filled with yummy healthy treats. And I’m the cuddling type if they allow it.
“Recently traveled out of state, and had to scramble to find a sitter for my dog and cat. Having never used a service like Rover I rightfully skeptical. I am so happy I connected with Devynn, from the first moment I met her I felt at ease about the decision, and I could tell my dog Peggy, cat Stella felt the same. Devynn kept me posted with photos the whole time and was super communicative, it was very apparent she looked after them like they were her own! Thank you again Devynn 😊”

About: I’ve been taking care of family members, dogs, friends, dogs, my family dog since I was about 10 years old I’ve always loved dogs playing with them taking care of them making sure they’re feeling great! I’m currently working part-time at a spa I can go before my shift and after my shift my hours are flexible and I also have days off where I can let them out multiple times during the day! My service that I do offer is housesitting at the clients house and I would be accommodating to whatever rules they have if they have a fence that’s fine if they don’t that’s also fine. I can throw the ball around. I can play with the pets to let energy out!
“The best decision we could have made! I had never left my baby with anyone before, and I did it with Mauricio. He's incredibly good, and communication is excellent. I recommend him 200%. THANK YOU!! I'm sure we'll be back.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Ridge Wood Heights
I had Kyle watch my three cats and puppy while I was away on vacation. He did an amazing job and managed all the animals well. He kept me updated with photos and made sure my puppy got outside and active while i was gone. When I came back home everything was clean and the animals were happy. I would recommend Kyle to house sit and pet sit!

The moment Mary walked into the yard both of my dogs sat at her feet in total comfort ( they can be picky). She is a total delight to get to know and to work with and to take care of your fur babies. She’s very responsible, communicative, conscientious. I will ask her to pet sit again and again. I highly recommend Mary as a dependable pet sitter.
Nick stayed in our house to watch our mini dachshund while we were away for 5 days. This was the first time we had left her like this and with a stranger so we were nervous. Nick was a great communicator, sent tons of photos, and followed directions well. We came home to a happy pup!

We are so grateful to have found Stephanie. Our sweet poodle Justice came home the day before from surgery and we were nervous to leave her with a stranger. However Stephanie's calm presence and obviously love for animals came through and Justice was very open to her. Stephanie communicated with us while we were away as well as shared photos. I look forward to having Stephanie come again or Justice going to her home.

We had a last minute need for a sitter and our usual sitter was not available. I am always nervous about using a new sitter, but Jill’s profile seemed like she could be a good fit. She came for a meet and greet that day, and after meeting her in person I felt comfortable with her sitting for us. Jill spent the weekend with our dog and did a great job. She followed our instructions perfectly, making sure our dog was safe, fed, and well cared for while we were gone. We received photo updates and she was quick to respond to our texts. Our house was in perfect condition when we arrived home. She’s a trustworthy, calm, and responsible person who I don’t hesitate to recommend. We will book with Jill again!

There isn’t enough room to express how amazing Nicole is! She went above and beyond to make sure this dog mama felt secure with leaving her animals! Pictures every day along with amazing communication. She even left holiday cards with pictures of our babies. Nicole is the only person I want to watch my “kids” from here out. My only concern is my animals might start to love her more than my husband and I.

First time using Michael for our 2 dogs and it was a 2 night assignment. He was fantastic! Dogs loved him, we loved pix and videos he sent. Michael was all about the dogs and making sure they were active and always safe at the park. Definitely will be using Michael again! Thank you!! C and Y!

Isabella did a great job looking after Lincoln(dog) and Oliver(cat) while we were away. They were well taken care of and she gave them a lot of attention. She sent lots of photos to reassure that they were doing just fine! My family and I are looking to have her take care of Lincoln and Oliver again really soon! Thank you Isabella! (:

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Ridge Wood Heights on Rover is $50 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 1,422 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Ridge Wood Heights. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ridge Wood Heights walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ridge Wood Heights maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ridge Wood Heights choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Ridge Wood Heights. On Rover:

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
