Pet care experience

Animal care taker since childhood

I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin on a farm which allowed me to have pets like cows and horses as well as cats, dogs, and fish. From an early age, animals have always been a large park of my life. In college I earned a Bachelor's of Science in Wildlife Ecology. This grew my love for animals to include the wild creatures that live in our back yards. At home, my husband and I have two rescue dogs who have made our house feel like a home. They have travelled the country with us in our camper and I cannot imagine life without our two pups.

We had a last minute need for a sitter and our usual sitter was not available. I am always nervous about using a new sitter, but Jill’s profile seemed like she could be a good fit. She came for a meet and greet that day, and after meeting her in person I felt comfortable with her sitting for us. Jill spent the weekend with our dog and did a great job. She followed our instructions perfectly, making sure our dog was safe, fed, and well cared for while we were gone. We received photo updates and she was quick to respond to our texts. Our house was in perfect condition when we arrived home. She’s a trustworthy, calm, and responsible person who I don’t hesitate to recommend. We will book with Jill again!

We can highly recommend Jill after she stayed with our rambunctious terrier for six days! He loved her! She took him on long walks and gave him lots of love and attention. Jill was great at communicating with us and was so understanding when a problem came up on our end. She took great care of our home and left it spotless!

My dog tends to be cautious of humans and so isn't always the friendliest to strangers. He's also over 65 pounds, so he can be intimidating. I communicated this to Jill so then at our first meetup she gave my dog distance and respect so that he could come to her on his own terms. As I showed her around, the way she kept the interactions with him at a level that he set was so impressive. By the time she left he was comfortable receiving an ear scratch from her. She has pet-sat for me a number of times since then and is now one of the only non-family humans that my dog will wag his tail for when he sees her.

As someone who worked in the animal industry for many years I am selective as to who I have care for my animals (dog, parrot, chickens) when I am away. Jill is one of the best caretakers you will find for your animals as well as your home. She spends quality time with the animals, giving them the attention they need while their humans are away. She is also attentive to the humans; my husband and I greatly appreciated the daily photo/note, especially during our absences of 2+ weeks. You truly won't have to worry about your furred, feathered or scaled family members while you are away if Jill is the one keeping watch over them!
