“Walter was quick to respond to our last minute request for him to watch our dog. He and his family sent photos of our Pomeranian while we were on vacation and were very accommodating when we needed to change our pickup time.”

“Heather is absolutely amazing! We’ve never left one of our dogs with anyone outside of family and it was so nice to see they had a blast and made themselves feel right at home. She is flexible, quick response time and has plenty of room for our dogs to run and play, also meeting some new friends with their dogs. We will keep our dogs going to Heather anytime we leave town and she is available.”

“So grateful to Tamara for watching my pup on very short notice (I went into labor three weeks early) and as always Kai had a great stay! It made our lives easier knowing he was in good hands, and we appreciate that she also provided transportation for him home.”

“Lauren, impressively on short notice, took my pup in for boarding and was remarkable with his care! I highly encourage anyone seeking pet assistance to consider Lauren for services & I plan to seek her services the next time my pup needs boarding.”

“I can't say enough good things! Katherine treated our dog like one of her own sending daily updates and photos! She made sure our family member had daily walks and made new friends! Copper seemed to enjoy his vacation as much as we enjoyed ours and looks forward to his next visit!”
“Ruth was so wonderful with our pups! It was a very last minute stay and she was super communicative and very timely in responding. She sent us a bunch of updates and photos of them. I know they had an excellent time because they were super worn out when we picked them up. We were just passing through Virginia, but if we weren’t Ruth would be our go-to dog sitter.”
“Wonderful experience throughout. My pup seemed very excited to return after the meet greet. Cheryl And her husband were very friendly, professional, and trustworthy. Overall great experience. Will definitely use again.”

“Our Buddy was so well taken care of for his first time away from home! Erin sent us pics and updates throughout his stay. I thoroughly trust our fur baby in Erin’s care and would use her again!”

“Sarah was wonderful with Murphy and Mazi. She kept me updated with pictures, handled their medications carefully, and clearly treated them like part of the family. I really appreciated how flexible and accommodating she was with my schedule, including extending their stay by an extra day when my plans changed. I would absolutely trust Sarah with them again.”

“Tetiana did a wonderful job taking care of my senior dog (12.5 year old), Minnie. She went above and beyond addressing the needs of Minnie. I highly recommend her to all. I look forward to using her services again because she is able to make quick decisions and provide a high quality of care. Thank you once again!”

“If you're ever looking for a place for your fur kids to stay while you go out of town, I highly recommend Laura. I have 2 neurotic cats; 1 has CH that does not like getting confined in crates/small place and the other is spicy/moody. The stay was short with a (somewhat) unusual request, but Laura took them all in stride and went the extra mile to look after Sam and Cloud. Definitely one of my best rover experience and would not hesitate to ask her again in the future.”

“The only person we are 100% comfortable leaving our fur baby with when out of town. Our girl is shy and struggles with separation anxiety except when she is at Tara’s. She walks right in to her home just like she does at ours! Excellent communication and flexibility in scheduling when challenges arise.”

“Ingrid has a very good situation for dog sitting and my dog got along really well with her dog. I was pleased that my golden doodle was able to settle in quickly and feel comfortable!”

“This is our first time to leave our fur baby to a stranger while on vacation. So relieved that we chose Lauren to watch over her while we were on our 10-day vacation. She kept us updated with photos twice a day of her activities. Many of which involves Autumn joining their family outings and adventures. I feel Autumn had a vacation too. Lauren even gave her a bath to het her ready for our pick up day. I am truly thankful for all the love and attention Lauren gave her. Will definitely choose her again.”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Reliance
I always worry about booking Rufus into a new situation as he is a spoiled only dog who has acres to run in and almost never walks on a leash or encounters other dogs. Kalley calmed my fears by sending me a photo early on showing he was calm, followed later by a video showing he could interact with other pets. He slept well when he came home.

I have been trusting Kalley for several years and she and her family are a godsend. My dogs always have a good time and I get great pics and updates that prove the fun and extra love they are getting by staying there. Kalley is very easy to work with and I feel like I can relax and enjoy my vacation while my dogs are there.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
97% of sitters in Reliance can provide daily exercise during dog boarding stays. Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, this may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Reliance home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:

- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Reliance.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Adding another pup to the pack? Most sitters and walkers offer a reduced rate for additional dogs. You’ll find these exact rates listed under the "Services" tab on any sitter's profile. Since every dog is unique, final pricing may vary depending on the level of care required.
