“This situation came up unexpectedly and we needed a sitter ASAP. I have never used this app before and was a bit apprehensive but desperate times calls for desperate measures.🙃 Every sitter wasn't able to do this last minute but Allison checked her schedule and got back to me in quick time. What transpired after was nothing short of a blessing. Allison is one of the most professional, detail oriented, punctual and all around pleasant person I've ever met in this field. Her interaction with Milo can only be described as a true dog whisperer. She was patient, calm, attentive and most of all understanding of my dog and his interactions. Milo is a rescue and gets a bit anxious at times but the way he was with Allison is nothing short of awesome. She truly touched his spirit and also that of me and my wife. If we ever need a sitter, it will be her for our first choice and disappointed if we can't get her. Hers is going to be a very tough act to follow.😊”

“Mia was excellent. She should be very proud of herself, especially with how active and vocal our larger dog was when she visited for the meet and greet. The dogs look very well taken care of and it would be an honor to book Mia again in the future. Thank you for helping our family while we were away.”

About: Throughout my entire life I have grown up with dogs and the longest the household went without one was about 3 months. I also have been pet-sitting since I was about 10 years old - from fish to dogs I've done it all. I have done extended house-sitting and also just stopped by for a half hour to feed and spend time with someone's dog. I am easy to get ahold of through text. I am responsible, reliable, and most importantly, I love animals, especially dogs, and want them to feel happy and comfortable when in my care. I like pets to feel completely at ease around me. I treat them as I would my own pets and make sure to give them all the love, as well as space, that they need to be happy and cared for. Pet sitting is a part time career for me. I prioritize it and make sure I am available and have a flexible schedule. I am always easy to get ahold of and have great communication skills to make sure we are on the same page when it comes to caring for your pet. I will always send pictures when pet sitting too so that you feel more at ease and know I’m with your pet and can see how they’re doing! I make sure to be extra safe when at your house or on walks. I make sure I’m aware of how the pet is doing and the surrounding environment. I follow directions and rules to make sure the pet is getting consistent care. I also leave a house in the same condition I found it when house-sitting.

About: Dogs and cats have been a part of my life since I was a baby. I have experience with many type of dog breeds from Shepherds, Dobermans, Keeshonds, Malamutes, Golden Retrievers, Labrador retrievers, beagles, etc. Dogs have always been part of my family and my everyday life. I am a mommy to two Keeshonds, Cuda and Chili, who are twins - fraternal twins. They will be 8 years old in November. Having dogs all my life has taught me that every dog has their own personality, needs, routines, quirks, and a way of communicating. I pay attention to those little things. When your dog is in my care, I want you to feel the same thing I feel when someone cares for mine: "My dog is safe. My dog is loved. My dog is in good hands." I have hands-on experience with everyday responsibilities that come with caring for dogs, including giving oral medication. I give both my dogs medication. I understand medication isn't something to casually overlook-it requires attention, consistency, and responsibility. I also have experience taking care of dogs who have anxiety (as my Cuda has that) and senior dogs (that need extra attention) I don't want to simply "walk your dog." I want to get to know your dog: their personality, routines, what makes them comfortable, what makes them nervous, their favorite things, and most importantly, what makes them feel safe. I believe pets deserve love, care, patience, kindness, and individual attention - whether I'm taking them for a walk, spending time with them in your home, or simply making sure they're comfortable while you're away. My promise to you: I will care for your furbaby with the same attention, patience, and love I would want someone to give my two furbabies- Cuda and Chili. Because to me, your dog isn't "just a dog." They're someone's best friend. They're someone's family. And while they're in my care, I'll treat them that way always. I am currently working part-time so I have plently of time to take care of your pets. I am available Monday - Friday from 4:15 to 8 pm. Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 3 pm. Individual attention, exercise and plenty of affection. Potty breaks, meals, fresh water, medication and companionship. Keeping your pet comfortable in their environment they are familiar with. Tell me your preferences. What do you feel comfortable with?
About: As a dog lover for as long as I can remember, I truly enjoy expanding my caregiving services to others. My household has raised many types of breeds, from German shepherds to golden retrievers to miniature schnauzers. For the last 10 years, I’ve cared for my close friends’ and neighbors’ dogs for their vacations and trips, and would like to offer my services to those who are looking for peace of mind while away! I live very close to a state park for long walks, a fenced in pool area, and spacious backyard. Since my yard is not fenced in, I allow the dogs to roam freely within the pool area or take multiple walks per day in my neighborhood. I also understand what it’s like to worry about my pups while traveling, and would love to be the sense of relief for your four-legged family members! I currently work part-time and my daily schedule tends to vary; however, your pet is my priority before and after my scheduled shift. I understand the importance of consistency in a dog’s routine and will try to stick to it as closely as possible. A lot of love. Additionally, as someone who loves the outdoors, I am happy to host or take care of pets who need a lot of exercise. In terms of safety, I never let them off leash unless the area is fenced in.

About: With over a decade of hands-on experience, including extensive work at a rescue barn and shadowing at a veterinary hospital throughout my life, I bring a wealth of knowledge in caring for a variety of beloved pets. My expertise spans from horses to dogs, cats, and even exotic reptiles and birds. Since the age of 10, I have been walking, feeding, bathing, and caring for neighbors' and friends' pets. These responsibilities have fostered a deep understanding of their unique needs and preferences. When pets are with me, their comfort and needs come first, and I ensure to care for them in the best way possible. I work part-time, allowing me plenty of availability for your pet. With adequate notice, I can come to your house or have your pet come to mine any day of the week. Additionally, I can visit in the morning and at night as needed. This personal connection fuels my passion for ensuring every pet under my care receives not just attention, but genuine affection and tailored care to keep them happy, healthy, and content.
“Carlie is FABULOUS! She had quality visits with my two dogs, and provided thorough, insightful honest feedback about how each was doing. One is an elder requiring heart meds. He showed some signs of stress on one of her visits which she described to a T. She had the good judgement to give him a pee and poo break but forego the walk with him. Next visit he was great. Based upon her feedback I felt completely confident that they were in the best possible hands. Carlie is a vet tech, and this added skill/ experience was obvious in how she handled things. She is a woman of kind and gentle temperament and great skill. I could not recommend her more highly. THANK YOU CARLIE!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone.
