About: I am an active educator working with elementary aged students 10 months out of the year for the past sixteen years. However, I also have a special place in my heart for animals of all kinds. I have a particular interest and skillset working with dogs of all breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments and have over 10 years of experience walking shelter dogs in my community. I have been passionate about dogs since I was a young girl, and when I finally got my own dog at the age of twelve, my desire to learn more about them and how to best care for them grew exponentially. Volunteering in the shelter environment, I have honed my skills in reading dog body language, creating safe walking environments, understanding and communicating health concerns, and handling boisterous, reactive, or fearful behaviors with calm kindness and care. Behavior is communication and I use my expertise as an educator to best care for and enrich the lives of the animals around me. I also adopted my own dog as adult from the humane society in 2018, who came with her own unique personality and behaviors such as reactivity, anxiety, dog reactivity, low confidence, and over-excitable drive. Throughout our eight years together, we have developed a strong bond and communication style that has brought her to achieving her Canine Good Citizen Certificate, and become a calm, confident, well-balanced dog. She also has learned how to communicate with me through augmentative and alternative communication buttons and express her personality in words I can understand which has been mind blowing! I love giving her the best life possible and I’m excited to support you and your furry friend along that journey as well during our time working together. I’m currently an educator who works full-time 10 months out of the year, but am available evenings and weekends. However, during the months of June and July I am available during the mornings, afternoons, or evenings and have a flexible schedule to accommodate you and your pet’s specific needs. I have a fenced in backyard with plenty of space to allow your dog time to run and play freely or just bask in the summer sunshine. My dog needs multiple, slow introductions to new dogs, so if you are in need of overnight care, additional meet and greet walks would be required to make sure they are a good fit together before any bookings.

About: Stephanie developed her passion for dog training after adopting her third dog, Lance from a local shelter. He ended up having many behavior issues, leading Stephanie down this path. She read as many books and attended as many seminars as she could about dog training and behavior in order to help him. He made such wonderful progress and went from a scared, highly reactive dog to a confident NW2 dog before ultimately losing him unexpectedly in 2017 to lymphoma. He was one of those life changing dogs. Stephanie started nose work in 2010 and was hooked from day one. She is a CNWI who recently retired her original nose work dog Logan and is now competing with her third nose work dog Leena and working on her fourth dog Livvy. Along with nose work, she is our reactivity specialist. She is always eager to learn and gain more knowledge about dogs. She is currently being trained by her adorable pups – Leena, Leevi, Livvy & Lynzi. Stephanie is a Certified Behavior Consultant Canine (CBCC-KA), Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA), Certified Nose Work Instructor (CNWI). She also has a Master of Science in Computer Science from Northern Illinois University.

Pete was Awesome!!! Fist off, my dogs are rescues. They have idiosyncrasies (lol). Taffy puts up defences when meeting new people. So much so, that two prior interviewees turned down the offer. Peter, who is a gentle giant, won her over during the interview. Not with his giantness, but his amazing gentleness. Usually it takes some time for Taffy to trust someone, but she found something in Peter to trust right away! The rest of the week went incredibly smoothly. I got texts every evening (he offered photos but i declined). Both Tanka and Taffy assumed "Belly Rub" positions once Peter arrived. I heard such great reports that when I got home, I had to tearfully sit down with them and ask if they would rather go and live with Peter. Just kidding, I couldn't ask that question for fear of the answer!! When I came home, my doges were normal. Not filled with fear, anxiety, depression or anything that separation might cause.
