“Kyle is a great pet sitter, he was very conscientious of the animals needs and was great in the house. He kept me up to date and sent pictures and updates. My dogs loved him! I highly recommend.”

About: I have had a dog at home all my life and have been volunteering at animal shelters for the past 4 years where I would walk dogs and socialize cats and dogs. I am a college student and have a completely free schedule over the summer. I can come on same day notice and can stay over night. I can’t offer my home for boarding but I can stay over at your house and am responsible and have lived alone and can clean do laundry and other tasks to keep the home clean for when you return. I can also come over and bring your dog out for walks.

About: Growing up, my parents used caring for our two dogs as a way to teach me responsibility — and I ended up falling in love with the process itself. Animals are a genuine passion of mine, and I adapt my care style to fit each pet, whether they’re a high-energy puppy or a slower-paced senior. I love animals of any age, breed, or size. I am currently working a remote job over the summer that is incredibly flexible. I can fit pet care into any part of my day for any amount of time. I have a fenced yard and no pets of my own, so I can dedicate all my time and attention to your animals. I am adaptable and am ready to listen and adjust to your needs and preferences.
About: I have years of hands-on experience caring for pets, including my own dog and the pets of friends and neighbors. I understand that every pet has unique needs, and I take the time to make them feel loved. My experience includes feeding, walking, playtime, administering basic care, and providing companionship. As an EMT, I am calm under pressure, attentive to detail, and committed to the safety and well-being of every animal. I currently work part-time as an EMT, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to accommodate a variety of pet care needs. Whether your pet needs regular walks, drop-in visits, overnight care, or last-minute assistance, I will do my best to provide dependable and consistent care. Caring for animals is something I genuinely enjoy and make time for in my daily routine. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I treat every animal as if they were my own and take the time to learn their routines, preferences, and any special needs they may have. In your home, I will follow all care instructions carefully and keep your pet’s environment clean, secure, and stress-free.
“James was awesome. Cooper was very calm when I returned home and that was a clear sign that he was well cared for and comfortable James kept me posted with texts and pics. I would highly recommend James and will definitely be using him again.”

“Trisha graciously watched my 2 older dogs at the last minute in my home. She was an amazing houseguest, and was incredible with my visually impaired dog who requires various daily medications. My other grumpy dog took to Trisha immediately, which is remarkable as he can be stingy with his affection. Thank you Trisha and we all look forward to seeing you again soon.❤️”

“I almost don't want to leave this review, because Anica is so fabulous I don't want anyone else to snatch her up! Anica is just what you are looking for in a pet sitter...we have two Tibetan spaniel rescues from ARF, one is very friendly and active, while the other one is terribly shy. She managed both of them brilliantly. I will definitely hire her again and again and again...Now I can have a social life! Thank you Anica!”

“Emily is wonderful. Our dogs are getting older and require medication, one requires an insulin shot. Emily handled them seamlessly and with great care. We’re so glad we found her!”

“Maria was an absolute lifesaver. She stepped in on very short notice to care for my dog, Rizzo, and handled everything flawlessly. She was comfortable administering his insulin, kept me updated throughout the morning, and sent pictures so I knew he was doing well. On top of that, she safely transported him to his next destination without any issues. It gave me huge peace of mind knowing Rizzo was in such capable and attentive hands. Maria was reliable, communicative, and clearly very experienced with dogs who have medical needs. I wouldn’t hesitate to book her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy sitter.”

“Wow. We hired Christina to care for our 135lb Bernese Mountain Dog, Otis, while we vacationed in Westhampton for a week. And what a godsend to have found her! Amazing with Otis, incredibly flexible in terms of hours and availability, and just such a wonderful, genuinely caring sitter and person. Otis is just a year old, never been apart from us, and so it was critical that he feel comfortable and be well cared for while we took time away for daily lunches and dinners. Each day, when Christina arrived, Otis went nuts. It was just so clear how much he liked her and looked forward to his time with her. And, of course, she sent regular updates, including photos, so we were always in the loop and reassured about how he was doing. Our whole family, including both our kids, were sad for the vacation to end, in part because it meant not seeing Christina again! Really can't believe how fortunate we were to have connected with and hired her on Rover and, if we ever make our way back to Westhampton and need care for Otis, we'll definitely be hitting her up. Five star sitter, for sure. Awesome. Thank you, Christina!”

This ensures a premium experience for your pet that is calm, friendly and enjoyable. I do not have children or any pets of my own-this way I am be able to maintain a stress free environment for your pet to avoid any anxiety or nervousness around children or new animals. I offer a happy and calming experience for your pet in which they will enjoy lots of attention and cuddles/playtime from me or naps and comfort time and relaxing music should they desire. I’ve taken care of a number pets throughout my life. I grew up with small terriers and had fish too. Friends animals were always like my own. I adopted my beloved cat Calvin when I was 21 and in December 2022, 11 years later, he passed away leaving a hole in my heart. He had many health problems such as asthma and IBS, for which he was on several daily medications. This taught me to administer oral medication in pill pockets and use an inhaler attachment for him. I miss being around animals in general now that he’s been gone. I am looking so much forward to being able to provide boarding in my lakeside home. At this time, I’m not able to offer housesitting, very happily offer drop ins house sits and walks! Kindly note: * if your dog has a history of aggression towards people or has indoor accidents frequently I will not be able to host them. *Experience with breeds such as greyhounds, who may need a more quiet atmosphere I am available consistently at the moment as I run a part time home business. 24 hour consistent time with your pet is ensured. If they wish they can also sleep in the bedroom/bed. The fenced yard is big enough to run around supervised and also has tiered retaining walls. I also have a separate area for a cat(s) and a walk in closet style litter box “room”. I have plenty of toys, treats and catnip. At this time, I’m not able to offer boarding, very happily offer drop ins house sits and walks!
“Amber took great care of my dog Mocha. He gets very nervous when alone. She gave him plenty of attention and play time. Sent us pictures and kept me updated on how he was eating. I felt very comfortable letting her stay in our home. Will definitely be calling her again. Thanks Carol & Mocha”

“My best friend, Roquefort, a 13 year old Great Dane has been suffering with mobility issues, resulting from aging. Albert proved to be a godsend as I have commitments in NYC without someone to care for Roq in my absence. He strictly adhered to all the details of care we covered and even provided more. Albert's general demeanor was perfect as he is a calm person with sensitivities to the needs at hand. Handling Roq was not easy, as he is a large creature requiring assistance to move about. He made my apprehension fade, knowing he would provide devoted attendance to Roq's needs, with much gentle treatment and constant awareness of his needs. I'm very glad that Albert is now a resource.”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Quiogue walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Quiogue maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Quiogue choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
