“We only used family in the past to watch Milo, so we were a bit nervous. Cindy was by far excellent. She took good care of him, gave him love as if he was her own. We recommend her highly.”

“Cynthia was great! It was our first time using Rover and it was a positive experience. Our dog was Well cared for and Cynthia sent pictures and Videos Showing us how our Dog was doing. Cynthia is caring and knowledgeable and we were very happy she was able to watch our dog this weekend!”

“When we arrived for Alfie's second (longer stay) stay with Matthew and Kristin, as soon as I opened the car door, Alfie jumped out and ran to the front door. Matthew and Kristin went above and beyond my expectations. In addition to playtime with their dogs, Alfie also received enough exercise to meet his daily goals (GPS Fi reports). Matthew and Kristin ensured I received plenty of messages, photos, and videos so I wouldn't worry. Most importantly: Alfie is a trained service dog and performs specific tasks, I was worried that after this stay I would have to do a refresher training. That wasn't the case, Alfie didn't forget anything, and continues to perform his usual tasks. Thank you, Matthew and Kristin!”

“Gen was very accommodating by taking Winston and gave me updates the entire time. I knew the whole time Winston was safe, and was well taken care of. I will be booking w/ Gen again the next time I go away!”

About: I’m 59 years old and I’ve cared for many dog breeds since I was 10, poodle, lab, mixed breeds, golden doodle, pitbull mix. I take pride in how I take care of my dog from what I feed him, clean up after him, and keep him happy and comfortable. I believe I can offer the same attention to detail for a guest dogs needs. I am a full time programmer at the Riverhead County Clerk’s Office working 7-3 Mon-Fri, I would like to try boarding on the weekends and possibly during the week as I get more comfortable with this process I have a fenced in yard 4 foot fence, and own a 5 year old mixed breed terrier that loves to play. I’d be looking to care for friendly small to medium sized dogs that have are up to date on shots from the vet. I have a spare large crate if needed but it would be best if you have your own since your pet is used to that one. I’d like to see vet records of shots and meet before hand to make sure our pets get along
“First time boarding our dog. Melissa and her husband are wonderful. We got at least 3 photos a day of our dog having the best time of his life! Melissa was always quick to respond to any questions or concerns I had. When we picked our dog up after a week stay he was exhausted from all the playtime. Will definitely be using Melissa for any future needs.”

“I was so happy to have Melissa watch Moxie. She was welcoming and open when our plans changed. Her flexibility and availability was so amazing. Moxie had a fantastic time and didn't even miss us because she was in such great hands. I will definitely recommend Melissa to anyone looking for a pet sitter.”

“Luna stayed with Antonia for the second time. She likes her a lot and her dog and cat. Will keep booking with Antonia when we need a caring, sweet and attentive sitter. I know Luna is in good hands when she goes to Antonia.”

“I always trust that my dog will be safe and happy when he goes to Kerri’s. She is great with him but also super responsive with me. Always love seeing photos of my dog having a great time while I am away. Thanks Kerri!”

“Ashley went above and beyond to take care of my dog. She was flexible with pick up and drop off. She made sure he had adequate air conditioning during a heat wave. She went to great lengths to give him his medications. And she even gave him a bath before returning him to me. She is knowledgeable and caring. I would definitely recommend her!”

About: I’m so excited to be welcoming pups back into my schedule! I offer attentive, personalized dog walking with a focus on making every outing feel safe, happy, and special. I treat each dog like one of my own, with plenty of affection, patience, and individual attention. While I continue recovering from knee surgery, I’m currently accepting small, easy-to-handle dogs for walks. Whether your pup loves a leisurely neighborhood stroll, lots of sniffing, or a little extra TLC, I’m happy to tailor their walk to their personality and routine 🐾💜 I am currently a college student, so my schedule varies slightly during the semester. However, I maintain a consistent routine and am reliable with planned visits, especially in the mornings. I commute from Sag Harbor and appreciate having a weekly schedule in advance to ensure consistency and dependability. During winter and summer breaks, I have a much more flexible and open schedule. I provide my own pet-safe wipes to clean paws after outdoor walks, helping keep your home clean while maintaining your pet’s comfort. I’m mindful about the products I use and prioritize gentle, pet-safe options. I always ask before giving any treats and make it a priority to respect both your home and your pet’s routine. I aim to provide thoughtful, considerate care in every environment I’m welcomed into.
“Ariel watched our dog for the first time. He came home happy and very relaxed. Charlie has a fear of thunder and some anxiety. Ariel understood this and let us know how he did when the weather was bad. She sent us pictures and information about how he was doing. We would definitely leave Charlie with her again.”

“Donna was fantastic! Answered my messages about my pup while she was staying with Donna, immediately every time. Sadie came back home worn out so she had lots of fun playing with other dogs! Thanks again Donna Sadie will definitely be back!”

“Sandy was wonderful. This was my very first time using Rover and a sitter outside of my family or friends and couldn’t have gone better. Looking forward to using Sandy again! Thank you! :)”

“Lorena is amazing!! Truly a dog whisperer!! She watched our one and a half year old, high energy, Belgian Malinois in her home while we were away recently. She is professional, has a clean house, and is very considerate with informing you of how your dog is doing throughout the day. She sent us pictures and videos of him having a good time which alleviated our stress and put our mind at ease. I can tell Lorena really loves what she does and gave our dog the love and attention that he is used to at home, which we could not be more pleased about. We look forward to having Storm hang out with Lorena again in the near future!”

“Kathy was very friendly and responsive to my inquiries. She made sure to learn all of Rosie's health information, dietary needs, veterinarian information, etc. When I picked up Rosie, I could tell she was treated like a member of their household and was well-taken care of!”

“We and our pups love Lisa and Michael. Thank you! We have brought our dogs to you and few times and are so fortunate to have you take care of them. As always, they get the best care and tons of attention. You guys are the best!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Quiogue
Mochi had the best time with Allison, Matt and his pack of friends. We highly recommend them as trusted dog sitters - Mochi’s stay was filled with fun activities, love and care. It gave my husband and me so much peace of mind knowing that Mochi isn’t just boarded somewhere at a daycare but truly enjoys his time. 🥹❤️ We’d love to take him back when we are back in the area! (Mochi for sure would love it 😄)

So superior to most dog sitters! There is absolutely no comparison! Allison even took her to the beach and now Abbie loves her just as much as she loves me. Allison dropped her off for me and when she was leaving Abbie jumped up on her and wouldn't stop licking her hand and wagging her tail, so many kisses of gratitude.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Quiogue home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Quiogue.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Quiogue sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
