“Nicolette is the best! I used her as my regular dog walker during my long work shifts and would highly recommend her. She took great care of my dog, always taking him on great walks. She gives the best Rover report cards with great photos and excellent communication. I’m only in Maine for a short period of time, but will definitely use her again if we are ever back in town.”

About: I have cared for animals from dogs to horses to chickens since childhood. I have had greyhounds for the last 8 years and am familiar with their idiosyncrasies, but am happy to walk and sit dogs of all shapes and sizes. I am a teacher, so during the summer I have a flexible schedule for sitting and walks. During the school year, I can board for weekends only. My dog is used to 3 walks a day in the neighborhood and an before-bed potty break, with some trips to trails and parks to keep things interesting. I live on a quiet dead-end street. I do not have a yard, but there are lots of sidewalks for neighborhood walks on leash, and a trail in the woods within walking distance. If your dog likes car rides, we can also go for adventures on other trails. I have a friendly, 6 year old greyhound, Turtle, who gets along well with medium and large dogs, so any boarders must play well with others and be up to date on shots, including kennel cough, and parasite screenings!
“Matt was great! He was communicative from the meet and greet through a full week of 2x day walks, he always provided an update on how things were going. He was caring and patient with my dog and punctual for all walks! Thank you Matt!”

“Tonya did a great job of communicating with us , and treated Nala like her own. Book with her for a smooth and easy transition for your pet. We will definitely use her again !”

“Bella did an amazing job with Nala! This was her first time with Nala - and it was very appreciative how she updated how the visits were each time and pictures! Would definitely use again 😊”

About: Who's a good dog? All of them. My step-dog is the love of my life, and I'm the person who talks to animals more than humans at a party. I have experience with: Dogs, cats, fish, rodents, horses, chickens, other birds, reptiles, and more. As a former field biologist, I handled a wide variety of animals and completed Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) training. I'm open to caring for almost any critter. Send me a message so we can discuss what your critter needs. New-ish to Rover. Previously, all my clients were by word of mouth in extreme southern Maine and New Hampshire. We recently moved, and I decided it was time to join Rover. My schedule is variable, so just message me so we can discuss what your critter needs. This summer I have lots of availability. Thank you! I am currently not taking client's pets into my own home. I am open to a variety of conditions for home visits/walks/play dates/check-ins. Just send me a message so we can discuss your set up and what your critter needs.
“Rose is excellent! She goes above and beyond to keep our pup stimulated on her mid-day walks and always leaves detailed reports with plenty of pictures. She is our go-to walker.”

“Andy has been walking my dog fairly regularly for over 6 months now and I can’t recommend him enough. He is always timely in his response and communicates very clearly. I would recommend him to anyone who’s looking for a loving and responsible dog walker.”

About: I’ve loved animals my entire life and have had three dogs and two cats over the years. I’m currently raising a golden retriever puppy with my family and absolutely love spending time with dogs. Friends have always trusted me to watch their pets while they’re out of town because they know I treat every animal like family. I’m the kind of person who stops people on the street just to ask if I can pet their dog. Caring for animals genuinely makes me happy, and I’ll make sure your pet feels safe, loved, and well cared for. I’m currently between jobs, which gives me a very flexible schedule and plenty of availability to give your pets the attention, care, walks, and love they deserve. I care for every pet like my own, always putting their safety, comfort, and happiness first. I stay alert on walks, careful around other dogs, people, traffic, and our surroundings to make sure pets feel safe and secure at all times. I also have a fenced yard for safe play and experience caring for and crate training puppies since I currently have 2 dogs.
About: Mom of two little kids with my own two goldens and a ragdoll cat. I’ve been taking care of dogs since I was 14 and had my first dog of my own (usually two at a time) since I was 22. I’m extremely passionate about all animals and I’d be honored to give your pets the same loving attention as my own! Can’t wait to go for walks or drop in to break up a day alone inside. Please reach out to me 😊 I’m currently a stay at home mom but have both kids in school on Tuesdays from 8-12. Would love to give your pet a walk or attention during those hours. I take animal care very seriously. Safety on walks is the most important thing for your animal and I have tons of experience with this with all different types of harnesses and leashes.
About: I have worked with and cared for dogs all my life, and cats about half. I have trained dozens of dogs, even ones that have been “impossible”. I am a very active person and outside is better than in! Expect to get your pets back tired so you all can rest before you’re back at the grind. I love animals and visitors for my dogs and play partners for my own high energy levels. And as always, smiles and safety first. I don’t have a fenced yard, but I do have strong long leads, one attached to the porch (20feet) and one yard one, with a 250lbs resistant or weight limit, 50 feet long that allows dogs to safely visit and play outside in yard without wondering off. As well, a small empty dog park near by to play ball and “run free” and we frequent other dog parks. Right now I have a full-time job and just looking for a side gig doing something I love on the weekends. I love animals, even the quirky ones. Right now, just working on the weekends I’m available. I do have two small dogs at home that need to play, and love other pets. I can watch them at my home, bring them to the dog park or at your home, if I can bring my dogs with.
About: I work at The Bark Yard, a fear and force free doggy daycare and boarding facility, where I care for dogs daily in a positive, stress-free environment. I’ve grown up with small to extremely large dogs—mainly Boston terriers and Great Pyrenees—and have hands-on experience with feeding, medication routines, enrichment, and reading canine body language. I also personally own and care for a cat, so I’m comfortable providing attentive, gentle care for both dogs and cats. Pet care is already a regular part of my daily and weekly routine. I work hands-on at a doggy daycare and boarding facility, so caring for animals, following schedules, and reading behavior is second nature to me. At home, I care for my own cat with consistent feeding, litter maintenance, playtime, and observation. Because pet care is built into my lifestyle—not something I squeeze in—I’m reliable, attentive, and able to adjust my routine to meet each pet’s needs. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I prioritize safety, trust, and maintaining their normal routine. I carefully follow all written and verbal instructions regarding feeding, medications, walks, and household rules. I respect the pet’s space, read body language, and move at their comfort level—especially for shy or anxious pets. I keep doors, gates, and leashes secure, maintain a clean environment, and leave the home as I found it. My goal is for pets to feel calm, safe, and cared for in their familiar environment.
“Matt did a great job with our two pups. They are both rescue dogs and he was very focused on making sure they felt comfortable with him, which we really appreciate! The dogs had a great time and we had peace of mind knowing they were safe and well cared for on their walk.”

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
