“Anastasia was excellent! She had great communication and was very professional. She took wonderful care of our dog, Matilda, and our house over the two days and two nights. Will definitely rebook!”

“Adrianna stayed at our home to watch our two dogs at our cat while we were out of town for several days. She kept us updated daily with messages and pet photos, giving us great sense of peace that our home and pets were looked after. Thank you again for your wonderful service, Adrianna!”

“So grateful for John! Very understanding of the difficulties I had leaving my Luna for the first time like this - sent me multiple texts, pictures and videos assuring me she was doing well and happy. Very flexible with my schedule and made the point to come meet Luna ahead of time on a previous day. Very attentive to Luna's schedule and her specific little quirks. Luna clearly enjoyed her time, giving John a super speed tail wag and some kisses before we left.”

“Tommy was amazing and exceeded all expectations! Our pups were very happy and cared for when returned and Tommy sent many updates with pictures while we were away. I would highly recommend and am excited to work with Tommy again!”

“Jennifer takes good care of our dog while we're gone. More than that, she's on top of any issues with the house, mail, or even houseplants. We have zero worries when she's there. You won't regret choosing Jennifer!”
“Catherine took care of my son’s and my two energetic labradors for a week, and she did a great job. She was super conscientious about caring for the boys and the house, and also communicated well with us. She was very present for the dogs, spending lots of time with them. I appreciated the cute pictures, and felt very comfortable knowing that our boys were happy and cared for in my home.”
“Amber looked after our dogs for the entire weekend and she was great with our 2 dogs. She provided us with updates on how they were doing and they warmed up to her quickly. Would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a pet sitter!”

“Alyssa did a wonderful job with Chicken!! -- especially given her special needs. I appreciate the communication and pictures/videos that Alyssa sent. Given that Chicken is an older cat and has some vision issues, it was nice to know that she was well taken care of. Thank you Alyssa!!!”

“Yelitza was absolutely wonderful with my pups. She stayed with them at my house while I was away, and spent plenty of time with them to keep them happy and loved, - walks, plays, and snuggles. She was very engaged and meticulous, and I was very happy about the whole experience.”

“Elizabeth did an amazing job with our dog at our wedding allowing him to be involved and us to focus on the big day. Could not recommend more. It was such a pleasure to have you on our big day!”

About: I am willing and able to work with all sorts of animals - not limited to cats and dogs. I have a special needs dog of my own and will treat your fur baby like part of my family! I was a teacher for 10 years and am looking to start a career in a different industry. I have a very open and flexible schedule and would love to add your pet to my daily routine! I have a very flexible schedule and will make sure your fur baby (or hairless babies) are loved and cared for while you’re away!
About: Hey there. I’m probably new to your town as I am an ICU Travel nurse. I dreamed of something like this app and now the dream has come true. I love dogs and cats. Owned them since I was 12. I love working towards earning their trust and bond. And they pretty much pick me as their favorite person in the household. When I would travel and have roommates, their cats and/or dogs would choose to sleep on my bed rather than their owners. The owners would appreciate me as their furry baby’s awesome uncle. The owner would have to lift the pet off my bed and lock them in their own room to sleep and cuddle with at night. I work well with furry babies because I understand and respect them. I have no ego. No agenda. Other than working mindfully towards creating a loving and playful bond. I’m very patient and respect the individual furry family member for their uniqueness. I understand Pavlovian conditioning and ethology. I don’t ever ever ever never hit or discipline pets ever. That is stupid and unproductive. Rewarding proper behavior with treats or pets is the way to go. Furry babies love me and choose me because I fulfill their needs and understand what they do and dont like. Cats dont like to be picked up or touched in vulnerable/threatening locations. So I don’t, even though of course I’d love to hold them and squeeze them with love in a selfish manner. I meet them and form relationships with them on their terms. Not my own selfish terms. I should add I don’t mind getting scratched or bit by cats or dogs. They can’t linguistically speak. So their biting and scratching is their way of communicating their needs. Needless to say, I’m relatively tech savy and will meet your needs as the owner too. Through updates, pics, and prompt communication. Peoples’ furry babies are sacred. I treat it as such. It would be an honor and a dream to participate in their lives, even if it is for a short time in a different city as a travel nurse. So if I’m around the neighborhood and free, it would be great to connect to you and your furry family member and be their cool uncle. Again. Travel nurse. Will update schedule. But it varies week to week. I may work days or nights. But I’ll update my schedule. And hopefully I’m available. As a travel nurse, I’m limited to walking pets and visiting other people’s homes. I used to do home infusions as a nurse. So I’m pretty comfortable entering a person’s temple and maintaining the sanctity of their homes. People and pets love me. It’s good to be me.

About: I’ve had cats since 2018 and got Lincoln my dog during the 2020 year. He and I went on many trips including up five mountains. I am openly available, especially on weekends. Weekdays work the best for me especially in afternoons and evenings. As I am on break from school my schedule is open. I have a fenced in yard and live on a cul de sac allowing for dogs to have safe supervised environment to play and relax. Cats are kept inside and can be moved if necessary.
“Pam was amazing staying in our home with our Cece (Cavalier King Charles) overnight this weekend. We rarely leave Cece as she goes everywhere with us. Pam came for a meet and greet the week prior to our date, showed up a little early and that gave us time to go over anything either of us needed to, texted us pictures of Cece, and left the house tidy and locked up. Cece clearly loved Pam upon meeting her and was very excited when she returned the following week. Pam is a confident, professional, warm person and we will hopefully be able to have her back the next time we need Cece taken care of.”

About: I have 6+ years of taking care of my 2 jack Russell’s, neighbors dogs + cats in 3 different states and my boyfriends parents 2 cats (1 disabled). Promptly giving medicine to those animals in need for specific time, and patience tending to their attentions and needs. I work full time remote M-Thursday 8am-4pm with an hour and half lunch break each day. I work 3x a week part time on site and can be flexible as needed. I have a high energy dog (Jack Russell) that requires a lot of assertiveness and strict use of instruction. But at the same time requires rewards and playtime. I love to care for animals, but also care about the safety of myself, and owners property always keeping that at a #1 priority of my surroundings and the pets safety and better interest of the owner.
“Chantal did a wonderful job watching Luna while I was away! She was very responsive, provided me plenty of updates, and left my apartment in great condition. I would definitely recommend her!!”

Cat truly is the BEST pet sitter! She took such good care of my dog and home while we were gone for the weekend. We came back to the happiest pup and sparkling clean home. She sent pictures, updates, and spent the weekend playing and cuddling our sweet boy. Will 100% be booking her again. Thank you Cat!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Pompey Center walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Pompey Center maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Pompey Center choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Pompey Center. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
