“Wow! Can’t wait to book with April again. You can tell she really has a way with animals. We were so at ease on our vacation because of her wonderful updates, with pictures, and anecdotes of their time together. It was so nice to see our pups doing well, while we were away. April gave them great attention and really spent quality time with them. Thank you April!”

“Kristina is amazing! We know Katie is well taken care of while we are away! Kristina goes above and beyond to ensure that our sweet dog is happy! I would recommend Kristina to anyone!”

“Sheryl Lyn always makes us feel at peace knowing our pups are looked after with such great care, I love how she gives so much detail (and puppy pics) about her drip-ins with our pups. We love having her!”

About: Hi! I’m Jessica, a lifelong animal lover and dog mom who truly understands how important it is to feel your pet is safe, loved, and in good hands. As someone with a pup who has special medical needs, I bring extra patience, care, and attention to every animal I look after—whether that’s walks, cuddles, companionship, or help with routines and medications. I have 15 years of experience caring for animals and always follow instructions closely so your pet feels comfortable and cared for. I currently offer part-time bookings Monday–Thursday (5pm–8pm) and select weekends. Requests outside of this window may not be accepted. My goal is simple: treat every pet like family and give you peace of mind while you’re away! While I do work during the day, I’m available beyond 5pm most week days and every other weekend! However, if this isn’t aligned with your needs, please feel free to reach out and let’s see if we can figure something out! I’m also happy to schedule a complimentary meet & greet before our first walk or drop in. For same-day bookings, we’ll do a brief introduction at pickup to make sure everyone is comfortable. Im more than happy to care for your pet in your home and make them feel comfortable as best I can! Please feel free to include any special instructions or directions for how to go about this!
“Shawnee was so great! We needed a last minute pet sitter when ours fell sick, and couldn’t be happier we found her! We have a cat that requires daily medication, and Shawnee was able to come over at a consistent time every day to administer the medication and give all 5 of our cats some love and attention, and provided us with detailed updates every day, and pictures. We would definitely recommend her, and would use her again!”

About: I’ve cared for dogs since I was 12 and have been pet and house sitting for the last 10 years. I love taking energetic pups on long walks or playing fetch in a secure yard, and I’m equally comfortable creating cozy spaces for senior dogs. I have two dogs of my own (one large, one medium), and I’m experienced with administering medications—even to picky ones who need a creative touch. I’ve volunteered at animal shelters off and on since 2020 and have worked with reactive and anxious dogs who may require extra time to warm up to strangers. I love spending time with both dogs and cats, and making them feel safe, happy, and loved. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine because I’m a full‑time freelancer with a very flexible schedule. I’m available every day between 8 AM and 11 PM, and I can easily adjust my day to meet your pet’s needs—whether that’s a morning walk, a midday check‑in, or an evening visit. My open schedule also allows me to accommodate last‑minute bookings, so you can count on me even when plans change unexpectedly. When I’m caring for pets in a client’s home, I stick to the routines your cats and dogs already know so they feel secure and comfortable. I follow your feeding, walking, play, and litter box instructions, keep their spaces clean, and make sure your home stays tidy and secure. I’m attentive to each pet’s personality—whether that’s a shy cat, an energetic dog, or anything in between—and I work to make every visit calm, safe, and stress‑free.
“Samantha and Josh were amazing pet sitters for my two kitties. The cats were able to get very comfortable around them and eased my anxieties of leaving them alone for the first time without familiar faces. I loved my visitation updates and can safely say next vacation I will be booking with them if they are available!”

“Our cats were very well taken care of by Vanessa. She was able to drop in last minute, voiced any concerns quickly, and even made us feel great about our home. 10/10 would recommend!”

About: It was obvious from the time I was a little girl that I had a special connection with animals. I used to visit my grandmother as a child and pretend I was a dog trainer. We always had pets growing up. In 2006 after spending years in retail management I saw a sign on a car advertising pet sitting services. I knew that was my calling and soon started my own business. I have many clients and references. Pets are family and should be treated as such. I offer a home environment and lots of TLC.
“Shannon is not only a pet sitter. She gets to know you and your pets before even starting!! She became a friend and made me feel so comfortable while I was away!! Thanks Shannon :)”

“Miriah did a great job looking after our cats while we were away on vacation, cleaning the litter box with the pine pellet system we use, cleaning the water fountain and changing the filters. Our cats are scared of people and hide, but she tried to find them and take pictures for us every time she went, and gave us updates. Thanks Miriah!”

“Madeline was great, she took care of our boston terrier went above and beyond. We had to change Airbnbs and the second was out of her range but she happily agreed to make it work for the remaining 2 days.”

“Samara was Great! She gave us updates and plenty of pictures letting us know our babies were in good hands. We have absolutely no hesitation to use her again. Thank you Samara”

About: I’ve had a dog since I was a little kid. I also have watched dogs for my friends. My two oldest daughters head off to college this August. My youngest daughter, she will be 12 in September, loves all animals, but especially dogs. I am looking for a way to have more dogs in our house for my daughter to play with. We have one dog, Marley. However, my mom lives next door and she has two dogs, Daisy and Zoe. They visit often. But when we are watching other dogs, they will not visit. Our goal is to provide a fun, safe environment for your pup while you are away. I am able to watch your fury family member any weekend during the school year or June/July over the summer. I am not available: July 6-9 After July 30, I am back at school. I am available to watch your fury family member Friday (after 3:30) until Sunday evening (anytime.) I have a pool for them to swim in and and fully fenced in area around my house. I have about 40 acres we can take leashed walks on if you would like. We do have a few cows and a horse on the extended acreage. My lab/beagle mix loves to play with dogs. She plays well with both small and large dogs.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Polk City. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 99% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
