“Carolina was great! She stopped in morning and night to feed, give water, and play with our Australian shepherd for a few nights. Luna had so much fun with her and was still a happy girl when we got home. She sent lots of pictures and videos and asked clarifying questions to make sure everything was as it should be! I would book her again for her awesome help”

“Kirsten was fantastic, she did a pre-visit check beforehand and visited our cat early each morning. She sent updates and photos, and let our cat outside to play, just like she’s used to. We would recommend Kirsten and would definitely book her again.”

About: I’ve grown up around dogs and have always loved spending time with them. I have experience walking and caring for neighbors’ dogs, and I also have a Portuguese Water Dog of my own, Chulita, who I trained myself. I’m very active, responsible, and love getting outside for walks, playtime, and plenty of attention. I’ll treat your dog like my own and make sure they feel happy, safe, and cared for. I’m a senior at Connecticut College with plenty of flexibility in my schedule. I’m active and enjoy spending time outdoors, so I’d be happy to work walks, playtime, and pet care into my daily routine. I’m reliable and will make sure your pet gets plenty of attention and exercise. I provide care in the owner’s home and will treat both your pet and your home with the utmost care and respect. I’ve house-sat before and am very comfortable staying in someone else’s home. I’m very detail-oriented and will pay close attention to your pet’s routine, needs, and any specific instructions you leave. I’ll make sure your pet is safe, happy, and comfortable while also keeping your home clean and tidy.

“Emily took great care of our cats while we were away for a long weekend! She followed instructions to a T and always was on time for her drops ins! Our babies were well cared for and happy!”

About: I have been house sitting overnight since I was 14. I have experience working with dogs, cats, mice, and flying squirrels. Believe it or not, I have taken care of dogs who were indoor-trained only.I am also an experienced dog walker- not just with my own dogs but with friends' dogs that I've loved as my own. **serious inquiries only** please do not send me a booking request if you're going to ghost me after I respond or if you plan to book with another sitter. You'd be surprised by how often this happens. I abide by the safety precautions at the homes I stay at (fences, ring cameras, etc). When I stay with indoor cats, I take extra precautions when leaving the house to make sure the cats don't escape.

“Eden did a great job caring for my cats. It was reassuring to see the picture of my nervous kitty come out for her during the first visit! She went above and beyond. I will definitely hire her again!”

About: I’m pretty much a full-time stay-at-home dog mom to my two large dogs, so caring for dogs is already a huge part of my everyday life! I’ve spent months working on training with my own dogs and have lots of hands-on experience with different behaviors, routines, and personalities. I’m especially comfortable with large breeds, but I love dogs of all shapes and sizes. Your pup will be treated like part of the family while staying with me, with plenty of attention, playtime, love, and access to my fully fenced-in yard. I know how stressful it can be leaving your pet with someone new, so I’ll make sure you feel comfortable and keep you updated with plenty of pictures throughout their stay! Pet care is already a huge part of my everyday routine! I’m home most of the day with my own pets and have a very flexible work schedule, so your pet won’t be left alone for long periods of time. I’m able to provide plenty of potty breaks, playtime, attention, meals on their normal schedule, and lots of time outside throughout the day. I have a fully fenced-in yard with plenty of room for dogs to play and two dogs of my own for company. I always prioritize safe introductions and will make sure your dog is comfortable with mine before their stay. Pets are welcome to make themselves at home, and I can easily separate or crate dogs when needed. I’ll follow your pet’s normal feeding, sleeping, medication, and care routine as closely as possible and provide plenty of updates and pictures so you can feel comfortable while you’re away.
“Tina went above and beyond for our pup. She was caring and attentive to our dog’s needs and was willing to engage with our dog on her terms. They became fast friends and I can’t recommend Tina more.”

“Taleicia was outstanding! She cared for my dogs like they were her own. She was in constant contact and shared fun pictures. She played with them and took for walks. My retriever had an upset belly and she kept me informed and tried to change her diet and keep her comfortable. Highly recommend her!”

Makaila is an absolutely amazing dog sitter!! She has taken great care of our extremely particular and senior dogs! She is extremely competent, timely, friendly, and spent a lot of intentional time with our pups and made them feel safe. She’s an absolute gem of a find! Would recommend to any pet owner! Our chihuahuas are stubborn and nervous of strangers, and she was easily able to calm them and gain their trust. She’s a truly a dog whisperer! 💗🫶🏼 💕

We absolutely love having her care for our five little rascals! This was our sixth time using her, and once again, she was amazing. She is reliable, attentive, and communicates so well, which gives us complete peace of mind while we’re away. Five cats is definitely a handful, and then add the litter room to the mix! 😂 She handles it all like a pro and is so patient and caring with each of them. We always come home to happy, well-cared-for cats and a clean, well-kept home. The fact that we keep coming back says it all! We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, dependable, and genuinely caring pet sitter. We’ll definitely be using her again!

I highly recommend Tova! She was absolutely wonderful with my cat. She was professional, reliable, and communicative. My cat is shy with new people but Tova was patient and loving with her. And even though this was a new experience for my cat, I could tell when I got home that she was not stressed at all. I have peace of mind knowing that she is in good hands with Tova and I plan to book her regularly. Thank you!

Marii was great to work with; she had fantastic communication and my cats loved her, clearly having lots of cuddles and playtime in each visit. I appreciated the meet and greet before booking to make sure we were on the same page for care and so she could meet my cats and see their personalities. Looking forward to booking with her again and I'm sure my cats are too lol

Olivia accommodated a short-notice request without missing a beat. Took the time to meet Rosco and Roxy beforehand, sent great updates and photos throughout the day. It was clear they enjoyed every visit and were well taken care of. Reliable, communicative, genuinely caring. Highly recommend.

Carolina was great! She stopped in morning and night to feed, give water, and play with our Australian shepherd for a few nights. Luna had so much fun with her and was still a happy girl when we got home. She sent lots of pictures and videos and asked clarifying questions to make sure everything was as it should be! I would book her again for her awesome help

George did an amazing job with my dog. He was super attentive to details and called to update me after each check in. Very affordable and all around very good person that really cares about the animal’s comfort and happiness and will go out of his way to ensure it! Highly recommended!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
