“Cailynn was absolutely wonderful while watching our two high energy dogs for the week! She was extremely patient and understanding to their needs! We would defend recommend her for any pet sitting and house sitting needs!”

“This was our first time entrusting Patrick with our house and pups. We were quite confident in our decision when, during the meet and greet, Patrick inquired about our care routines in detail, which we hadn’t been asked before. Throughout our trip, Patrick kept us informed about our pups’ well-being by sending us pictures of their adventures. We appreciated receiving these updates as they allowed us to stay connected while we were away. We highly recommend Patrick for future dog-sitting needs and believe he would be a great fit for your requirements as well.”

“Gabrielle took great care of our cats and was in constant communication with us about how they were doing, including cleaning up a plant that one had knocked over. She also sent lots of pictures which was appreciated.”

“Heather is our go to dog sitter, and she is the best! Heather sends updates and photos of our pup throughout her stay, and we always are able to enjoy our time away knowing that our pup is in such great hands. We also always return to our house just as we left it. Cannot recommend Heather enough!”

“Jackie is a fantastic sitter! Dexter warmed up to her quickly and she took such good care of him. She was extremely attentive to his needs and great at communicating and providing updates on how he was doing each day. I really appreciate how she went the extra mile to make sure Dexter felt comfortable, safe and happy! It was amazing to have peace of mind while being away that my dog was in great hands. Will definitely be hiring Jackie again!”
“Kamryn is hands down the best sitter we’ve ever trusted with our senior dog. She goes above and beyond to care for him with so much attention, patience, and genuine love - it truly shows. Being away is never easy, but knowing he’s with Kamryn gives us complete peace of mind. We feel incredibly lucky to have found her and can’t recommend her enough!”

“I was so impressed with Audrey's flexibility, and relaxed attitude while taking such good care of Marco and Mia in my home. When something came up that needed special attention, she was on the solution quickly, which I appreciated immensely. I willdefinitely ask her to care for M&M again.”

About: I’m not just someone who “likes dogs”. I grew up with a Golden Retriever, and I’ve taken care of many other breeds. I understand firsthand the daily care, attention, and love dogs truly need. From puppy energy to senior comfort, I’ve been around it all. I’ve also cared for larger, strong-willed breeds like a Rhodesian Ridgebacks and cane corsos…so I’m comfortable handling dogs of all sizes, temperaments, and personalities. Whether your dog needs structure, patience, or just someone who can match their energy, I adapt to what they need. I treat every dog like they’re my own. I pay attention to routines, behavior changes, and making sure they feel safe, calm, and genuinely cared for while you’re away. I work Night Shift at the VA Medical Center as a certified nursing assistant. For your pet’s sake, it is most beneficial for both of us that you book as far in advance as possible so that I can create my weekly schedule around your pets needs. I prefer not to board your animals at my apartment. This is because of a strict policy that my landlord maintains. While I am taking care of your pets at your home, I will check in on them as frequently as you need me to in regards to their care schedule—i.e. feeds and bathroom brakes throughout the day.
“Rosie was awesome. She came for a meet and greet and hung out long enough for the dogs to know her. My one dog even tried to nip her, and it didn’t scare her away! She sent updates daily, and I could tell that she was actually hanging out with them all day, opposed to some sitters I’ve had in the past. She was willing and able to give my older dog medication, and we came home to a bunch of happy animals! Will definitely use her in the future :)”

“Sydney is terrific! Great communication, attentive, responsible. She has stayed in our home with our one pup. She takes great care of both pup and home. We have a sense of peace knowing she’s there.”

“There is no rating high enough for Sarah. From pre-booking to the home visit, to watching our home and our fur babies while we were on vacation, Sarah was amazing. Her situation was unique that in addition to taking care of our adult cats, we asked her to take care of a (somewhat friendly) mama cat and her 5 week old kittens. Sarah graciously offered her time for 24/7 care. And of course, just when we thought all was going smoothly, a hornet appeared in our finished basement which is unusual. This is where mama and babies are located. Then another one appeared - VERY unusual. When the third one appeared, not so far from the kittens, Sarah sprang into action and, together, we figured out a safe solution to draw any potential bees inside the home to outside the home. Sarah was a real trooper and took care of the home and pets like they were her own. No more bees appeared and life returned to “normal”. Well, as normal as can be for a home with cats and kittens. I can vouch for Sarah and she will be our first choice for future house and pet care needs. Sarah is friendly, trustworthy, and an excellent communicator and our fur babies loved her.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Pleasant Hills
Heather is very responsible and trustworthy. We met her before making our decision, and she is knowledgeable and experienced in taking care of cats. While she was caring for our kitty, she was always punctual, made sure he was doing well, and gave him plenty of attention by playing with him!

Sydney was so lovely! She was great with Tallulah and gave us updates and sent photos throughout our Christmas trip. She was extremely professional and let us know when our dog tore up some soft toys overnight, and even cleaned it all up for us! Tallulah is a bit of a princess and doesn't like going potty in the rain to the extent of faking a pee to get back inside... Sydney saw right through the trick and made sure she went potty. We will definitely hire Sydney again! Thanks for everything!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Pleasant Hills walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Pleasant Hills maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Pleasant Hills choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
