“John took great care of our dog, and was excellent to work with. Prompt communication, and he was very accommodating and supportive with an injury our dog has. Highly recommend.”
“Lisa and her family were very flexible, easy to work with and communicated with us daily. They took great care of our dog and welcomed him into their family. Would definitely use again. Thanks so much”
“Elisheba was wonderful with my dog. She gave me daily updates on how she was doing and sent me fun pictures of the adventures they had while I was gone. I highly recommend her as a sitter for your pet as she has a true love for animals and she will welcome them into her home and take care of them as if it was her own pet.”
“John is exactly who we needed. Best dog sitter I have ever used. I enjoyed my vacation more knowing that my little dog was in such good hands. He checked in regularly with updates. Took Birdie on walks and to visit friends and family. She came home very happy. Already have plans to use again!”
“Kathleen and her family are so amazing with Penelope. This is the second time I have booked with them and plan on it in the future. My dog is so excited to stay with them and they are always so great with her!!”
“Shannon & her daughter Michaela were amazing sitters for my dog! Minnie got plenty of cuddles and playtime! Shannon was awesome and sent lots of pictures. Definitely recommend her to anyone!!”
“Maggie loved her stay with Joe and Laurie. She roamed their house, "inspected" the yard, took walks, played with toys and had no problem joining the two of them for bedtime! I particularly appreciated all of the pictures and updates and will definitely be using them again.”
“April was absolutely wonderful with our dog, Teddy! From the very beginning, she was communicative and flexible, even allowing a pre-meeting to make sure our dogs got along—which gave me great peace of mind. During his stay, Teddy had a fabulous time with plenty of walks, attention, and companionship. I could tell he felt right at home. April and her family were kind, accommodating, and clearly experienced with dogs. I wouldn't hesitate to book with her again!”
“Ainura was absolutely amazing! I had to find a sitter for my new puppy on very short notice and she responded super fast and accepted the job. It was my first time using the Rover app and I’m so grateful it worked out so well. She took incredible care of little Khaleesi and sent loads of photos showing her playing and having a great time for the week. I’m definitely reaching out to Ainura next time I need a sitter :)”
“Scott was amazing with Junior, my 100lb lap dog. Scott absolutely went above and beyond. He was great with sending me photos of my boy enjoying himself. I will definitely request Scott again!”
“We could not have chosen anyone better to watch our dog while we were away! They were very friendly and let us bring our dog over for a couple of short visits prior to his stay so he would remember them and so we felt comfortable leaving our little guy. They sent us daily updates with pictures which reassured us everyday that we chose the right people. They cared for our dog as if he were their own. Our dog has a few quirks that not everyone can handle but they did with ease. If you need a pet sitter or a dog walk, please definitely consider Mike & Anne as they are both wonderful people and will take care of your pet as they would their own! If we travel again in the future and they are still pet sitting, we will definitely be taking our little guy to them!”
“Amanda was wonderful with my lab! My dog is a senior technically (although I won't tell him that- lol) and has multiple medications that must be administered multiple times a day. I realize it's a pain and an inconvenience when watching him but Amanda had no issue with it. This was my first time using Rover and the longest I've been away from my dog and she made the process so easy and stress-free. I loved the daily pictures and updates while I was gone-gave me a little extra comfort knowing he was being well taken care of.”
“Colleen was amazing. She took such great care of my older dog and kept me updated on how things were going. She made traveling easy and I have been recommending this website and her to others. I would definitely use her again. ”
“Katie did such a great job watching Reggie while my husband and I were out of town for a few days! We received plenty of updates and could tell he was well taken care of when we picked him up. Will definitely be using Katie again!”
“Jenna and her family provided our 17m oGolden retriever with best care when we go away for weekends or weeks. Coco loves going to their house! We trust Jenna with Coco’s safety and well-being while we are gone. Recommend her highly!”
“Our experience with Brie was fantastic from start to finish. She was communicative, reliable, and clearly love what she does. We got regular updates, photos, and little notes that made it easy to relax knowing our dog was in such good hands.”
“Siri was so amazing with my dog, Rooster (Roo)! She treated her just like her own and sent so many adorable pictures of them playing, snuggling, and running errands. She was also happy to keep Roo for an additional day when my flight was unexpectedly cancelled. I am so relieved to have found a wonderful local sitter and cannot recommend her enough!!”
“Khala took such great care of my 2 pups! I’ll definitely book with her next time. She’s great with communication and sends updates with pics. Great energy, wonderful spirit. So happy I found her and I’m sure my pups are too!”
“Lauren did a fabulous job with Ruger. He took to her quickly & she spoiled him. Lauren went out of her way to make sure our puppy stayed on his special diet. We’re very pleased with her and plan on asking her to keep Ruger the next time we go out of town. Lauren is absolutely awesome!!”

Daisy loves staying with April! It’s almost like a home away from home for her! She’s such a caring person! (I almost don’t want to tell everyone how fantastic she is because it could limit her availability for Daisy at some point). We feel very fortunate to have found her (and Maple)!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Pisgah home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Pisgah.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Pisgah sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in OH ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
