“Amanda did an excellent job caring for our dogs while we were away. She kept us updated, left our home clean and tidy, and most importantly, our dogs were happy, relaxed, and well cared for when we returned. We truly appreciated the peace of mind she provided and would gladly book with her again. Thank you, Amanda!”

“I’m so grateful for Kaylah’s help while I was away for a few days. My dog instantly loved her. Kaylah took such great care of my pup and home. Very respectful, communicative, and helpful. I highly recommend her!”

“Jennifer house sat for us and took great care of our two cats and dog - and home. She was super attentive and responsive. She kept in touch, sending photos and updates during the week. She left the place super clean and tidy and even left flowers on the dining table: a lovely treat upon our return. We would certainly book with her again!”

“Aaron you were great! You kept us informed about what was going on at home and we truly appreciate the level of service you provided. Thank you for taking care of the extra animals/birds! And the generous gift! We will enjoy them!!!”

“Nikki and Brittney did a great job watching our dogs over the weekend. We returned home to a cleaner home than the one we left! 10/10 would recommend.”

“Gunner is a very kind and conscientious pet and house sitter. He is communicative and provided updates and pictures of our cat happily interacting with him. My mind was so at ease knowing Gunner was taking care of my cat and home while we were away. I would definitely hire him again!”

“Hannah was amazing! We had her house sit our home with our two pups while we were away. She was everything you could ask for in a Rover, and more. She was extremely communicative during the whole process, and our pups, who can be rascals, were always happy when she arrived. Hannah met with us before our trip to understand what we were looking for in terms of updates, and what was needed by each pup (one older dog and one hyperactive younger dog). On top of the great service she provided, she even went above and beyond expectations when we had an issue with our keyless deadbolt. Honestly we were blown away with her dilligence to still gain access to the house to make sure our pups were taken care of. We will certainly be reaching out to Hannah if we have any future needs to care for our furry family members.”

“Allan takes very good care of TARS. He makes sure the guidance you place in his hands is taken care of to a T. He goes above and beyond to make sure if there is an issue it is resolved or that things are better than they were received. Couldn't have asked for a better sitter for TARS.”

About: I have been taking care of family/friend pets through the entirety of high school and afterwards. I have worked with a positive feedback trainer with my dog and have been able to apply those teachings to other behaviors in animals. I also know how to handle medications for dogs, from pills, intestine liquids, and topical creams. I absolutely adore big dogs and will totally let them be lap dogs. I love little dogs, even if they try to be ferocious creatures. I work a part-time job and am focusing most of my free time to medical concerns. I traditionally work in the early morning, 6-12. This leaves my afternoons free for the pets, but I can figure out how to care for them in the morning if necessary. Beyond that, I want to maintain active with the animals, playing, cuddling and taking for walks. I have 3 dogs of varying sizes (8, 25, & 100). They have different diets and activity levels, but all maintain their appropriate body weight. We have a fenced backyard for them to roam around in. The big dog is an anxious creature so he gets put in the crate when everyone leaves the house. I specifically worked with him on it and he has done wonderfully with positive reinforcement. I am able to transfer this knowledge to other animals, it might just take a few tries. Access to treats might help 😋. For walks, I can handle dogs big dogs and the ones that pull pretty well. I refuse to use choke chains and shock collars. If they are wearing one, I would like (with your permission) to switch it for a regular collar during the time of my stay.
“Brenna did a fantastic job taking care of our elderly dog. She stayed at our home and gave Cookie a comfortable and seamless caregiving experience while we were away. She respected our home and took very good care of her. I recommend Brenna!”

Also have a working vehicle and do not mind a little drive ! I have also house sat many times over the years and always leave it more clean than when I arrived. I adore being able to keep critters company and provide loving and patient care.
“Cailin went above and beyond our expectations while taking care of our 2 dogs. They were loved and we didn't have to worry about anything while we were away. I cannot recommend her highly enough! We have found a perfect sitter with Cailin.”

About: I have grown up with many animals in my household including birds, rodents, chickens, cats, and of course dogs. I love working with animals and getting the opportunity to give them the love and care that they need. Once I moved out and started school, I decided to get my own dog, and it was the best decision I ever made! I have a three-year-old blue heeler who needs tons of attention and care and from this experience I have learned a lot about dogs and how to care for certain breeds properly. I am currently a college student on summer break looking to fill my time with an activity I will enjoy. I am free whenever needed any day or time of the week. I live in a duplex home and have a fenced backyard with a community dog park available. I do have one dog myself with an available crate if needed to crate your pet.
“Candy was amazing! Was not quite sure about outcome when leaving(very protective of our pet) but Candy put me to ease immediately! She tended to our pets needs plus more. Got pictures and reassurance “Mavie” was fine. Even with a sudden unexpected emergency of her own she never wavered on her responsibility. Thankful for Rover for providing Candy❤️”

“Alyssa and Natisha did a fantastic job taking care of our dog and cats. They shared lots of pictures and kept things clean. When we came home, the pets were all happy and healthy.”

FAQs for House Sitting - Orchard
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 756 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Orchard. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Orchard walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Orchard maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Orchard choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
