“Very thankful I found Leslie and she could accommodate my last-minute booking! I had an emergency appointment and she was able to look after our 3-month-old puppy at our home for several hours while I was gone. Leslie was kind, gentle, and followed all of my instructions regarding our potty training plan and our puppy’s crate.”

“This was the second time I booked Taylor to stay with Sunshine my Labrador Retriever. Taylor is very reliable and excellent at caring for Sunshine. She followed my instructions and will care your fur baby and your home very well. I will definitely rebook Taylor! 😀❤️”

“Casie stayed for the weekend with my 2 dogs, cats and guinea pigs. One of my pups requires a pretty extensive med schedule and she was great! I will totally ask Casie to watch over my babies again ♥️”

About: Hello! My name is Izzy, I’m 21 years old, and I’m going into my senior year at Penn State while working at Rita’s Italian Ice in Cranberry Twp. I’m so excited to start my Rover journey! I’ve grown up with having dogs in my household all my life, from a 4 1/2 lb. Chihuahua to a chunky Toy Fox Terrier to a mighty but loving Rottweiler-Black Lab mix. I’ve also been tasked with taking care of my neighbor’s and friend’s dogs over the years, whether that be stopping over to give them food, bathroom breaks, and cuddles, or even staying overnight over the span of a week so the dog(s) don’t feel alone. Therefore, I’m hoping to be the best fit for you, too! Outside of dogs, I love to be in our pool when the weather is warm and being able to do so with my family, pick up new crafting hobbies like scrapbooking or embroidery, and go to concerts of a variety of artists (43 concerts and counting!), most recently being 5 Seconds of Summer. I can’t wait to start this opportunity and hopefully bring some relief to someone in need of dog-helping needs! I’m currently working part-time at Rita’s Italian Ice in Cranberry Twp., and the schedule always fluctuates between 4-6 hour shifts. I don’t have set days, but I’m typically scheduled one weekday and the Friday-Sundays, However, I have plenty of time outside of those shifts and always accommodate around them to ensure that all the dog’s needs are met. At home, I assist in letting our dogs play in our fenced-in backyard, giving them treats when they’ve behaved or done a trick we’ve taught them (sit and “paw”), taking them on neighborhood walks when it’s nice outside, assuring that their food and water are filled, and playing with them to get their zoomies out before everyone starts winding down for the night. Outside of my home, if there is not a fenced-in backyard, I’ve taken the dog(s) outside on leashes for bathroom purposes, as well as do all actions mentioned above from what I do at home. Some houses have also had puppy pads when necessary, and I always take appropriate measures to clean up any messes and re-lay down a fresh puppy pad.

“Lynda was, in a word, fantastic. She got to know our Lucy, was open with communicating while we were away, and Lucy simply loved her. She was incredibly respectful of the house, and felt like a member of the family. I would book her again in a heartbeat.”

“Vickie is awesome! From the first meet and greet my girls loved her . Sammie and Sasha don’t really pay attention to people that come to our house, but they took to Vickie from the first meeting and that is the reason we hired her to stay with our fur babies. She kept us updated throughout our whole time we were gone and let us know how things were going every day. She even washed and remade the bed so I didn’t have to do that when we got back! That was an unexpected surprise and very much appreciated! We will have Vickie sit for us again! She’s the best!”

“We hired Erin to care for our three-year-old tuxedo cat, Lilly, for six nights. As first-time clients, we appreciated how regularly she kept us informed. She often shared photos and videos, and her strong communication skills made us feel completely at ease while we were away. Although she works primarily as a dog sitter, it was clear that she and Lilly quickly bonded - the photos showed the feeling was mutual. Erin also helped with a few household tasks, including setting out the garbage and watering our plants while we were gone. We returned to a tidy, well-kept home and a happy, well cared for cat. We wouldn’t hesitate to hire Erin again. In fact, we think Lilly already misses her. Thank you, Erin!”

“Sydney was so wonderful with our pets and there are 5 of them so they can be a handful. She has great communication and was very prompt and on time. She sent lots of updates and stayed in contact with us for our entire trip. She left the house cleaner than when we left and our dogs were so well taken care of. Highly recommend!”

“Karen was awesome! She stayed at the house during the recent snow storm and she went above and beyond. We didn't have to worry about a thing. Beckett was sad to see her go. We will definitely be using her again.”

“We have a 90 lb Doberman. He’s very friendly but a large dog that requires a lot of exercise and attention! Madison was awesome. She took great care of our dog while also taking great care of our home for the long weekend she dog/house sat for us. She was easy to communicate with and sent updates with photos letting us know how things were going. She respected the rules of our home and took great care of our dog! We highly recommend Madison for your dog sitting needs!”

About: I've always loved animals and have experience caring for both dogs and cats. I have a Yellow Lab of my own, so I understand how important it is to find someone you can trust with your pet. I've helped care for pets for family and friends, including overnight stays, feeding, walks, playtime, and giving them lots of attention. I treat every pet like they're part of my own family and will make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you're away. I'm happy to care for dogs and cats of all sizes and personalities and will always keep you updated with photos and messages. As a college student, my schedule is flexible during the summer. I have plenty of time to give your pets the attention they deserve, whether it's walks, playtime, feeding, overnight care, or simply keeping them company. I'll do my best to work with your schedule and your pet's normal routine to make sure they feel comfortable while you're away. Your pet's safety and comfort are my top priorities. I'll follow your pet's routine, including feeding schedules, walks, medications (if needed), and any special instructions you provide. I always make sure pets have plenty of love, attention, and exercise while keeping their environment clean and secure.
“I can’t say enough good things about Teresa. We wanted someone to stay in our house and dog sit our rescue dog while we were on vacation. From the first moment we met Teresa we had confidence that she was the right person. Teresa arrived for our meet and greet with a thorough questionnaire that proved her earnestness to provide quality care for our dog and our house. The entire time we were away, she sent videos and photos that gave us peace knowing our dog was in good hands. We returned home to a happy dog and a tidy house. I highly recommend Teresa. Your pet will love her and you will too.”

“I can’t recommend Brianna enough! She watched Hobbes at home for the first time recently and was incredibly professional from start to finish. Her communication is top-notch; I loved the frequent check-ins and the fact that she’s so diligent about arrival ETAs, potty breaks, and walks. It’s rare to find a sitter who manages a high energy puppy so effectively. Hobbes was happy and well-rested when we got back home!”

About: I have had dogs and cats my whole life, my parents have a blue heeler/husky mix currently that I take care of weekly, walk and love. I have had experience with puppy’s, abandoned dogs, foster dogs and senior dogs. As well as over 20 different breeds. I have walked my neighbors dogs my whole life and want to help out others and give pets the love and care during the day that they deserve! I do have a full time flexible job that is work from home. I am able to set my own schedule and I am able to help those and their pets who don’t have as flexible of a schedule and that’s what I am here to do! I have a safe neighborhood dog walking friendly. Or usually choose to walk dogs where their owners usually take them so they are comfortable while walking or being taken care of by a new face! Try to keep everything as normal as the pet is used to by their owner.

This was our first time using Rover. We have nothing but positive feedback for the service, if all dog sitters are like Paige. She responsibly cared for our dog and our home during our absence. She performed all duties as expected. She was punctual and had a great attitude as well

FAQs for House Sitting - Old Furnace
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 1,305 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Old Furnace. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Old Furnace walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Old Furnace maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Old Furnace choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Old Furnace. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 92% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
