Very thankful I found Leslie and she could accommodate my last-minute booking! I had an emergency appointment and she was able to look after our 3-month-old puppy at our home for several hours while I was gone. Leslie was kind, gentle, and followed all of my instructions regarding our potty training plan and our puppy’s crate.

We hired Erin to care for our three-year-old tuxedo cat, Lilly, for six nights. As first-time clients, we appreciated how regularly she kept us informed. She often shared photos and videos, and her strong communication skills made us feel completely at ease while we were away. Although she works primarily as a dog sitter, it was clear that she and Lilly quickly bonded - the photos showed the feeling was mutual. Erin also helped with a few household tasks, including setting out the garbage and watering our plants while we were gone. We returned to a tidy, well-kept home and a happy, well cared for cat. We wouldn’t hesitate to hire Erin again. In fact, we think Lilly already misses her. Thank you, Erin!

Casie did a great job taking care of my pets while we were away in my home. She went above and beyond and did things that were not asked of her as well as water my garden since we didn’t get any rain. I felt comfortable with her and even though I missed my babies I knew Casie was loving them just as I love them. I will definitely have Casie back.

Her dedication and love for pets is evident from the moment you meet her. She's incredibly attentive, kind, and went the extra mile to ensure our dog's happiness and safety. Having a special needs dog, that is our utmost priority. Her communication is excellent, providing us with regular updates and even photos and videos, which we greatly appreciate. Leaving our dogs with Teresa gave us peace of mind, knowing they're in the best hands. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter. Thank you, Teresa, for being so wonderful and for taking such great care of our babies!!

About: Hello! My name is Izzy, I’m 21 years old, and I’m going into my senior year at Penn State while working at Rita’s Italian Ice in Cranberry Twp. I’m so excited to start my Rover journey! I’ve grown up with having dogs in my household all my life, from a 4 1/2 lb. Chihuahua to a chunky Toy Fox Terrier to a mighty but loving Rottweiler-Black Lab mix. I’ve also been tasked with taking care of my neighbor’s and friend’s dogs over the years, whether that be stopping over to give them food, bathroom breaks, and cuddles, or even staying overnight over the span of a week so the dog(s) don’t feel alone. Therefore, I’m hoping to be the best fit for you, too! Outside of dogs, I love to be in our pool when the weather is warm and being able to do so with my family, pick up new crafting hobbies like scrapbooking or embroidery, and go to concerts of a variety of artists (43 concerts and counting!), most recently being 5 Seconds of Summer. I can’t wait to start this opportunity and hopefully bring some relief to someone in need of dog-helping needs! I’m currently working part-time at Rita’s Italian Ice in Cranberry Twp., and the schedule always fluctuates between 4-6 hour shifts. I don’t have set days, but I’m typically scheduled one weekday and the Friday-Sundays, However, I have plenty of time outside of those shifts and always accommodate around them to ensure that all the dog’s needs are met. At home, I assist in letting our dogs play in our fenced-in backyard, giving them treats when they’ve behaved or done a trick we’ve taught them (sit and “paw”), taking them on neighborhood walks when it’s nice outside, assuring that their food and water are filled, and playing with them to get their zoomies out before everyone starts winding down for the night. Outside of my home, if there is not a fenced-in backyard, I’ve taken the dog(s) outside on leashes for bathroom purposes, as well as do all actions mentioned above from what I do at home. Some houses have also had puppy pads when necessary, and I always take appropriate measures to clean up any messes and re-lay down a fresh puppy pad.

About: I have been dog sitting for over 3 years and have experience caring for a variety of breeds, sizes, and ages. I am also a sitter with Freedom Paws, where I care for service dogs when their raisers are in class or at work. Many of these dogs are puppies under one year old, so I help reinforce their training, including basic obedience, socialization, and leash manners. In addition, I have experience dog sitting and house sitting for families, caring for dogs with a variety of needs. I am comfortable caring for puppies and can administer medications according to owners' instructions to help ensure pets stay healthy and comfortable while in my care. I work full-time on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday mornings. However, I am available all day on Tuesdays, Thursday mornings until noon, and Fridays after 2:00 PM. I also have weekends completely free and am comfortable providing overnight and weekend pet sitting when needed. I offer in-home pet sitting so your pet can stay relaxed in the comfort of their own home. I take time to learn each pet's routine and preferences, ensuring they receive consistent care, exercise, affection, and attention. I am reliable, respectful of your home, and happy to provide updates and photos throughout my stay so you always know how your pet is doing!

Hilary was fantastic!!She took such great care of our dogs,1 male Labrador almost 2 years old and 1 female lab 9 months old. So you can see she had some energetic young dogs! Hilary spent time with them inside & out. She kept in contact with us, sent pictures. The house was clean, the dogs shampooed, I think the dogs were sorry to see her go! We would definitely get Hilary again!!!

About: I have had dogs and cats my whole life, my parents have a blue heeler/husky mix currently that I take care of weekly, walk and love. I have had experience with puppy’s, abandoned dogs, foster dogs and senior dogs. As well as over 20 different breeds. I have walked my neighbors dogs my whole life and want to help out others and give pets the love and care during the day that they deserve! I do have a full time flexible job that is work from home. I am able to set my own schedule and I am able to help those and their pets who don’t have as flexible of a schedule and that’s what I am here to do! I have a safe neighborhood dog walking friendly. Or usually choose to walk dogs where their owners usually take them so they are comfortable while walking or being taken care of by a new face! Try to keep everything as normal as the pet is used to by their owner.

I can’t say enough about Brianna! This was a perfect experience for us. We were out of town for our daughter’s wedding and we didn’t have to worry about our furry friends at all. She kept in touch with us with pictures a couple of times a day. The pups looked super happy. She even touched up the house a bit before she left which was totally unexpected! Highly recommend Brianna and we will definitely be booking her for future travel!

She took great care of our dog while also taking great care of our home for the long weekend she dog/house sat for us. She was easy to communicate with and sent updates with photos letting us know how things were going. She respected the rules of our home and took great care of our dog! FAQs for House Sitting - Watters

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 1,388 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Watters. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Watters walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Watters maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Watters choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Watters. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 91% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
