Taylor did a great job house sitting while we were on vacation. She took great care of our home, two dogs & cat. She was very responsive & sent us pictures of our boys while we were gone. I would definitely request her again in the future.

We hired Erin to care for our three-year-old tuxedo cat, Lilly, for six nights. As first-time clients, we appreciated how regularly she kept us informed. She often shared photos and videos, and her strong communication skills made us feel completely at ease while we were away. Although she works primarily as a dog sitter, it was clear that she and Lilly quickly bonded - the photos showed the feeling was mutual. Erin also helped with a few household tasks, including setting out the garbage and watering our plants while we were gone. We returned to a tidy, well-kept home and a happy, well cared for cat. We wouldn’t hesitate to hire Erin again. In fact, we think Lilly already misses her. Thank you, Erin!

About: I’ve taken care of kittens, Cats, Puppies, Dogs, even chickens. I have done it all. I am very reliable when it comes to dog walking, because I walk my dog every day. I have a French bulldog myself, his expertise, health, and happiness is one of my main priorities. I love animals and have been loving them ever since I was a little girl. I have a huge heart when it comes to them, they are the best for comfort, and deserve to be loved by everyone. They are just the most precious little babies ever! 🫶 I am mostly free in the mornings and in the afternoons. When ever I have the time I am always on a walk with my dog or at the park with him trying to get him the exercise he needs. Cause he is a little big for his breed and needs the exercise and and to be out of the house. As soon as I wake up I take my dog out for a walk. Then I fill up his bowl with food and his other with water. Then in the afternoon when I get done school I’ll take him out again. And lastly at night I take him out for the third time. Give him food and water. He is my #1 priority as always (: I try and play with him as much as I can during the day, but I’m a busy girl so I do my best!

About: For the past seven years, I had the privilege of sharing my life with my dog, Agatha, whom I adopted when she was around seven years old. She recently passed away at an estimated 14 years old after battling cancer. Caring for Agatha, especially during the last few months of her life, taught me patience, compassion, and how to meet a dog exactly where they are. As she got older, she needed more hands-on support. Whether it was helping her stand, carrying her when her body wouldn't cooperate (all 55 pounds of her!), or hand-feeding her because that's how she was most comfortable, I learned that every dog has unique needs and deserves care that respects their personality. Agatha was fiercely independent, so I always tried to give her as much dignity and choice as possible while making sure she felt safe and loved. While I'm not ready to adopt another dog just yet, I truly miss having one in my life. That's what brought me to Rover. I would love the opportunity to care for your pet, whether they enjoy long walks, playtime, or simply having a calm companion nearby. I live in an apartment with easy access to outdoor walking paths, sidewalks, and a nearby dog park, making it easy to provide plenty of exercise, fresh air, and opportunities to explore. My goal is to make your pet feel comfortable, cared for, and at home while you're away, and to give you peace of mind knowing they're in loving hands. I own a local fitness studio, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to plan my day around the pets in my care. Most weekdays, I'm available between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. for walks, drop-in visits, or spending quality time with pets. My mornings typically begin around 8:00 a.m., and I'm at my studio from approximately 9:00–11:00 a.m. and again from 4:00–7:00 p.m. Because I have flexibility throughout the day, I can provide regular potty breaks, exercise, meals, and companionship. Whether your pet enjoys an active walk, playtime, or simply relaxing with someone nearby, I'll make sure they receive attentive, personalized care while you're away. I know that every pet is different, so my first priority is getting to know your dog's routine, personality, and any special needs before their stay or visit. I'll follow your instructions closely, whether that's feeding schedules, medications, favorite walking routes, or little routines that help your pet feel comfortable. In my home, pets will have a clean, calm environment with plenty of attention, fresh water, potty breaks, exercise, and a comfortable place to rest. I live in an apartment with easy access to sidewalks, green space, and a nearby dog park for dogs who enjoy socializing (only with your permission). If I'm caring for your pet in your home, I'll treat your home with the same respect I would my own while keeping your pet's routine as consistent as possible. I'll also provide regular updates and photos so you can relax knowing your pet is happy and well cared for. Above all, my goal is for your pet to feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you're away.

Anna stayed at the house taking care of my previous boy for over a week. Excellent! Daily recaps and left my house possibly in even better condition than when I left. Anna is a sweetheart and I give her my highest recommendation, but please check with me first before you schedule so I can make sure I can book her again!!

We had such a great experience with our dog sitter! She was a wonderful option for us since we didn’t want to board our two dogs and had never left our youngest before. She was caring, dependable, and kept us updated while we were away, which gave us so much peace of mind. It made our first time leaving Winston so much easier knowing he was in such good hands. We would definitely recommend her and will absolutely use her

Casie stayed at our house for a week when we were out of town. She did a great job! Since this was my first time using Rover, Casie lead the way & did a great job! She came ahead of our reservation for a meet & greet which was a great idea! Casie sent pictures through the week. We loved being able to see our pets while we were away! The entire experience was so smooth & easy. Thanks to Casie for taking care of our pets!

Isabelle was wonderful with our two cattle dogs, communicated with us and shared pictures throughout our long weekend away. In addition, she cared for our home as we would, and cleaned up after herself. We had nice calm girls when we got home, to me that’s a sign they were well cared for and loved!

I can’t say enough good things about Teresa. We wanted someone to stay in our house and dog sit our rescue dog while we were on vacation. From the first moment we met Teresa we had confidence that she was the right person. Teresa arrived for our meet and greet with a thorough questionnaire that proved her earnestness to provide quality care for our dog and our house. The entire time we were away, she sent videos and photos that gave us peace knowing our dog was in good hands. We returned home to a happy dog and a tidy house. I highly recommend Teresa. Your pet will love her and you will too.

Salem was an amazing choice! It was my first time having someone stay in the house to care for my pets. But he put me completely at ease. Took such good care of the babies. We have pretty specific care instructions, and he followed them to a T. He spent so much time with them. He was very communicative. He left the house immaculate. I would 10/10 use him again. If you're looking for a trustworthy amazing sitter for your pets! Salem is your person!

If you need a house/dog sitter, look no further! Lauren was absolutely awesome. We have a 100lb Doberman who is very sweet but he is high energy and can be a lot to handle for people not used to large high energy dogs. Lauren took care of him with no issues at all while staying at our house for 5 nights. She gave him regular walks and spent a ton of time with him. She also was great at sending pictures and updates. Finally, she took great care of our house and respected our rules. She was great all around!

FAQs for House Sitting - Mars

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Mars on Rover is $59.94 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 1,380 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Mars. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Mars walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Mars maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mars choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Mars. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 91% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
