Five stars is not enough Leanne is a godsend. Our sitter canceled after we were 7 1/2 hours away. We were stuck with no one to care for our pup. Luckily, I found Leanne and she most graciously agreed to do it at the last minute. We got daily updates and our pup came home happy and healthy. I would recommend her to anyone worried about leaving their pet.

About: Hi! My name is Mia. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love my dogs; being able to love and take care of my three munchkins is one of my favorite parts of being alive. That being said, half of my heart will always be with animals. I grew up in an incredibly dog-loving family. We unfortunately never had any cats, but I have assuredly tried to change that; unsuccessfully :( From a very young age, I was constantly put in charge of keeping an eye on my dogs while my family was out or had company over. I realized I didn’t mind at all! I currently have three pups! My senior Lab mix, Oreo; a Cavapoo, named Charlie; and a Cockapoo, named Benny. I won't be shy to repeat how much love and joy these dogs give me every day. Since being the token dog-babysitter all my life, my family encouraged me to find a job at my local doggy daycare. I had always admired how much thought and detail they put into their business, and was excited for the opportunity to be surrounded by animals all day, MY DREAM! I ended up being very disappointed, however. It turns out my version of pet care didn’t exactly align with theirs. Since there are SO many animals in that facility, they did everything in a very one-size-fits-all manner. 4 walks a day, feeding, group playtime, next dog. In theory, that was an honorable system with that many dogs in one building. However, I had always wanted to go dog by dog, get to know them, sit in their kennel with them, and take my time. I wasn’t always able to do that due to the system already put in place. I realized each and every animal are so incredibly different and fluid in their own way. They require different things, have different habits, like things a certain way, and have different backgrounds and preferred environments. For example: my dog, Benny, was rescued from a foster family that takes in animals that are up for euthanization. We aren’t fully sure of what Benny’s life was like before that, but we know he was tossed around to households that didn’t treat him the best. This makes him the extremely reactive dog he is today. It is very frustrating to have a pet who attempts to bite every single stranger that he doesn’t know very well, but that makes it all the more worth it. To know that we are able to be that safe, loving family for him; To know that we are working on his anxiety towards new people in the most gentle way possible, like so many other families have failed to do. All of this to say I like to take my time with all puppies and have lots of experience with reactive/senior pets! I prefer to get to know them, adhere to their routine, likes and dislikes, and make sure my care is at the utmost quality as they’d like it. I have fortunately reclaimed my token-dog-babysitter title and have been able to take care of many of my friends’ and family's pets for weeks/days at a time, and would love to do the same with yours! Also PS: I do not require any pet sitters myself, so the “My Pets” tab is empty. All of my babies are in my “Photos” tab. I am currently a college student, so my schedule is pretty much limited to Friday-Sunday for long term care. Along with another part-time job. However, my schedule varies week to week, so if there is any point where you would need care during weekdays, I am completely open to coming up with a solid plan and schedule. I much prefer to go to the clients home, since my three pups don't exactly love the extra company. However, I am very meticulous with the way I treat other peoples spaces and animals, as I have mentioned before. I would not like anyone coming into my home, and not honoring it the way I see fit. I also have a very OCD system, where I ensure everything is clean and where it should be before I leave. Again, this is your home and your system, there is no reason it should be disrupted. All that being said, your pet is my #1 priority. After reading my "get to know me," I am sure you are very familiar with my method and how much time I like to take with animals. I also realize it would be really hard to explain my own dogs specific routine to anyone else, but I WANT YOU TO BE AS SPECIFIC AS POSSIBLE! If they will only take medication every night with a certain flavor of pill pocket, or only can be hand-fed their breakfast/dinner; I want to know it all!

About: Hi! I’m Kaleigh, and I’ve been caring for dogs and cats for over 20 years. I’ve always been a huge animal person, and I genuinely love getting to know each pet and their personality. I have experience with dogs and cats of all ages, sizes, breeds, and energy levels, along with rabbits, chickens, birds, and reptiles. Whether you have a high energy puppy who needs lots of playtime or a senior pet who just wants some extra love and attention, I’m happy to meet them where they’re at and make sure they feel comfortable and cared for. I have two cats of my own, so I completely understand how nerve racking it can be to leave your pets with someone else. I treat every animal I care for like I would want someone to treat my own, with lots of love, patience, attention, and plenty of updates for you. My friends and family joke that I’m an “animal whisperer” because animals always seem to find me, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’d love the chance to meet you and your pets! Feel free to check out my reviews here on Rover, and please reach out if you have any questions Pet care is already a big part of my everyday life and something I genuinely enjoy. I have two cats and a boxer of my own, so my days naturally include feeding, walks, playtime, and lots of attention. When I’m caring for someone else’s pets, I make sure to work around their normal routine as much as possible. Whether they need an early morning walk, a midday visit, or some extra time and attention in the evening, I want them to feel comfortable and happy while you’re away. I’ll always make sure they get the care, love, and consistency they’re used to. I care for every pet like I would my own. I always try to stick as closely as possible to their normal routine so they feel safe, comfortable, and relaxed while you’re away. Whether it’s feeding, walks, playtime, medication, or just giving them some extra love and attention, I make sure they get exactly what they need. I’ll also keep you updated so you never have to wonder how your pet is doing.

Daniel was exceptional with our two high-energy pups. His stay in our home while we were at a work event went so smoothly, from meeting the pups through communicating with pictures through the weekend and the "handoff" when we got home. We felt so at ease, especially me with my rescue knowing they were in great hands!

Erin did an amazing job watching my dog while house sitting for two weeks. From the start, she was reliable, communicative, and clearly cared about my dog’s well-being. I came home to a happy, well-cared-for dog and a house that was just as I left it. It gave me real peace of mind knowing everything was in such good hands while I was away. I’d absolutely trust Erin again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable and caring dog sitter.🐾🎉

About: I’m a dog trainer and animal lover wanting to walk and watch dogs for my community. I professionally train dogs with years of hands on experience from training and walking neighbor’s, family’s, and friend’s dogs. I want to have genuine connections with my returning pups and help maintain peaceful downtime at home. I am familiar with different dog training tools and methods so when caring for your dog I can ensure your pup gets the same structure as they do with you. If supplied with a retractable leash or long line I would love to take your dog to play fetch, run, and explore at a nearby park, beach, or field. I love to tackle puppy behaviors with positive methods and offer tons of solutions to typical puppy shenanigans when dog sitting. Un-house broken, teething, and high energy pooches are welcome and wanted! Wednesday/Friday are my anytime service days! I offer pet sitting, walks, and check-ins all hours of the day. I train dogs privately weekends and Tuesday/Thursday. There are only morning/evening timed services on these days such as walks and check-ins. Mondays I do not offer morning services, but afternoon/evening times are good to go for walking, check- ins, and dog sitting. I want to love and dote on your dog as much as I do my own, showering them in attention and playtime while I’m with them. When walking a new dog I get a rundown of known behaviors, tools, or reactions to be aware of, and will ensure the current methods you use are understood and applied correctly. If there is no preferred method or procedure for walks, I’ll bring my bag of treats, toys and poop bags then off we go! When dog sitting or check-ins let me know your dogs preferred feeding schedules and daily routine so I can keep your dog steady along their regular path. If there’s any house rules I should know for your dog such as no pets on the furniture or in specific rooms I will ensure they’re followed.

About: Growing up in an animal loving home, I have had the responsibility of taking care of dogs, cats, fish, hermit crabs, birds, turtles, mice, Guinea pigs, and an iguana. Friends and family have relied on me to walk, feed, brush, clean, bathe, and play with their animals. I treat them as if they were my own and as if they were human. I currently work Monday to Friday 8-4:30pm and I am home on weekends. I am able to walk, feed, play, and follow potty schedules as you do in your home after work, on the weekends, or in my home for boarding. I do have owners who are ok with their dogs being in my home while I am at work but it is all about whatever you feel comfortable with! I have a fenced in yard with three house trained, dog friendly doggos. They get a walk everyday and let out as much as they need. My husband and I love to go in the backyard with them and run around or take them on adventures in the car. My dogs do sleep in our room, either in their beds or on our bed, whatever they prefer and that is the same option I will always give your dog. I can crate if needed/requested. Wally and Reed are fed three small meals a day, once in the morning, afternoon, and evening, but I know not everyone’s food schedule is this way. All feedings are separated from your dogs. My older dog has allergies and is given allergy medication daily as well as ear drops which makes me capable of following a medication routine. We also have a Furbo indoor camera that has all eyes on the dogs at all times and baby gates to separate large areas of our home just incase anything were to ever happen. There are times where I will be sitting other dogs as well as yours. All dogs are slowly introduced on leash in the backyard in a safe environment. I allow the dogs to take the time they need to settle in and get a feel and sense of smell of their surroundings. If an owner feels as though the stay will not work out, I am completely understanding. I would never want an owner or dog to ever feel uncomfortable in my home. If you are unsure of your dogs feelings toward other dogs, especially males, I always recommend a meet and greet in advance. I have never cared for a special needs animal, but I have taken care of very sick animals and making sure they are comfortable and accommodated for. If you have a special needs dog and are considering me, I would make all the accommodations necessary to make your pet feel right at home and comfortable.

FAQs for House Sitting - Ocean Acres

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Ocean Acres on Rover is $68.97 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 724 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Ocean Acres. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ocean Acres walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ocean Acres maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ocean Acres choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Ocean Acres. On Rover:

  • 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
