“This was our first time using Rover to find a dog sitter and the process was seamless. I appreciate that Stephanie wanted to meet Bayley beforehand which helped build trust and ask/answer questions. She was responsive, reliable, and flexible, stepping in at the last minute to extend our booking by 2 extra days when we had an unexpected emergency come up. We could not be more grateful for her support and wouldn’t hesitate to book her again!”

“Five stars is not enough Leanne is a godsend. Our sitter canceled after we were 7 1/2 hours away. We were stuck with no one to care for our pup. Luckily, I found Leanne and she most graciously agreed to do it at the last minute. We got daily updates and our pup came home happy and healthy. I would recommend her to anyone worried about leaving their pet.”

About: I realize the joy a pet brings to your family. It brings me so much joy being able to ‘speak dog.’ I miss being able to take my senior dog on long walks and would love to take your baby on one! I’m newly retired and have weekdays available. I’m an early riser and am motivated to get out for your dog’s benefit, as well as my own health benefits. I am confident that your dog will be cared for as if we’re my own. Safety is my highest priority. Love, rubs and kisses are given freely!

About: Hi! My name is Sabrina and I love all animals! My experience growing up with multiple pets have taught me so much about their needs! I currently work full time and get home at 5pm on weekdays. Very flexible during weekday afternoons and open on the weekends at any time! I currently do not offer my home for services. I am more than happy to take care of your pets in their own homes or outside areas!
“Jennifer was great! Our little girl, Dash, recently got spayed and we needed someone to watch her for one night who could keep her calm and happy. Dash was immediately comfortable with Jennifer and we received lots of pics and updates. Would def recommend!”

About: I've been lucky enough to have a dog in my life since I was 8 years old, and now I'm 20! My dog is 13 years old, and caring for her has taught me so much about patience and responsibility. She takes multiple medications, so I'm very comfortable with medication schedules and making sure pets receive the care they need on time. I've also looked after other pets for family and friends like my friend's 3 cats, Rocky, Pepper and Sage, during school breaks, and the cutest dog in the world, Abby. These experiences helped me become confident caring for pets with different personalities, routines, and needs!! I truly love spending time with animals, cuddling, playing, keeping them company, or just making sure they stay active and happy. I'm an outdoorsy person who enjoys hiking and walking, so I'd be happy to take your dog on walks and adventures if needed. I'm reliable, attentive, and comfortable with feeding and following special instructions to ensure your pet feels safe, loved, and well cared for! I’m planning to have an internship, so I’ll be working full days but will be able to periodically check in on your animals!! I love to play and spend time with them, and you can trust they’re in great hands! My puppy is 13 years old, and is on many medications, has specific feeding times and diet, but she still loves to play and go on walks! I’m super organized and take very good care of her.
About: Hi, I'm Christie! I've taken care of animals from a young age and currently have 2 family dogs that I care for often. Friends, coworkers, and neighbors have trusted me to look after their dogs/cats when they were away as well. I've always felt a special connection to animals and I would love to care for yours! Given the opportunity, I assure you your 4 legged family member will be treated like my own. I am currently working nights part time, beginning at 4 or 5 pm, 4 nights a week. Typically I work these hours on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights. I will take your dogs for however long a walk desired, bathe, feed and play with them. If they have any special requirements or preferences let me know and I will do my best to make them happy and comfortable! Please reach out with any further questions and for a face to face meeting. Looking forward to hearing from you!

“Erin did an amazing job watching my dog while house sitting for two weeks. From the start, she was reliable, communicative, and clearly cared about my dog’s well-being. I came home to a happy, well-cared-for dog and a house that was just as I left it. It gave me real peace of mind knowing everything was in such good hands while I was away. I’d absolutely trust Erin again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable and caring dog sitter.🐾🎉”

About: Ever since I was little I have been taking care of many animals. I grew up with a cat, and my family adopted a dog five years ago that I helped train! Aside from that, I’ve had chickens, goats, and ducks! I’m a recent college graduate working retail shifts typically at night. I have a flexible schedule and if needed can change things around in order to take care of your pet. Understanding that my presence is different in the pets home, I prioritize making sure they are comfortable with me there and not scared. I aim to make sure they are taken care of and not stressed out in their own home.
“Shawn was great with Ava! He sent me a ton of photos and it looked like they had a great time together. Would definitely ask Shawn to watch her again as it appears they have struck up quite the friendship!”

About: I have had two dogs that we adopted as puppies, one was a small dog and the other is a medium bully breed. I also have experience with cats via friends and family. I love all animals of any size, breed, shape, etc! :) I am recently graduated from my master’s degree program and am currently working a couple nights a week as a server. I live in a pet-friendly neighborhood with a park close by and the salty bay for them to sniff, and I also have experience with difference types of houses/yards when it comes to client’s homes.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Long Beach walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Long Beach maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Long Beach choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
