About: I love taking care of all animals: dogs, cats, birds, etc As a steamboat local I have a deep love for our home, local wildlife, and furry family members. I’ve also been raised on a sustainability mindset, mindful of electricity, water, and waste as it impacts our community. I often care for the pets of local friends of many years but am keen to make new friends (furry or not!). I prioritize keeping them engaged through play time and exercise (spring creek is my favorite trail to take pups on) I pride myself on patience, especially the youngsters, and am always happy to keep up with training programs I’ve also seen several cats and dogs through the end of their lives, and emphasize the importance of their comfort, as they’re all kittens/puppies/young at heart and deserve the attention to keep them feeling that way. With my current transition through my marine biology career, I’ve got loads of free time and am able to prioritize the needs of any pets that are letting their owners enjoying well deserved holidays! I have my own car so I am able commute to take care of any that need and bring them on the best local adventures. I live out of town, giving a pup a chance to enjoy the freedom of country life, on or off leash. My own family dog, a border collie named Millie, loves new friends (she was the one comforting other pups during her time in shelter life) and is always happy to show them around the rural neighborhood. We have a closed garage and lockable doggy door for safety at night. And a comfortable living area with adjustable temperature for any pups sleeping crates. Though if they are partial to snuggling, pups are always welcome to night time cuddles.

“I've used Mayra twice now. One time Ally stayed with her and this last time she came by the house a couple times while I was out of town. Best service I've had and will continue to use Mayra when she's available! ”

About: I have foster pet parents so I’ve never not been surrounded by animals. From golden retrievers to rottweilers to lovable mutts whose breeds still remain a mystery—I’ve had ‘em all :) I understand that every dog, like every person, has a unique personality and individual needs. I dog-sat through college for some extra cash until I got a dog of my own. I’d be delighted to get to know your fur baby! I’m brand new to Steamboat and extremely flexible at the moment. I will be Snowboard Instructing during the Winter so just need some money to get through the Fall! I make sure to puppy-proof all areas and create a clean and safe environment for your pet. I stack up on all necessary equipment (toys, food, snacks, medication, etc.) I will take the time to get to know your pup’s exercise schedule and accommodate accordingly.
“Absolutely wonderful to work with! Her communication was absolutely amazing and she treated our home and more importantly our baby girl with so much kindness and respect we have no words! We 100% recommend her!”

About: I've done overnight house stays for several families in the Yampa Valley this year. Longest stay was 10 days. I love getting to know the dogs in the Valley and getting to go on great walks with them. I provide quality pet care and can provide references. When doing overnight house stays, on weekdays, I feed and walk the dogs before I go to work (I start work at 8am), and then after I get off work I come home to feed and walk them again. On weekends it is much easier, and I have all day to walk and feed them. I treat the pets with total respect and love. If the pets require any specific medication I can certainly administer it to them in their food.
“This was a fantastic first experience with Rover.com. Ella responded within minutes of my request. She is very professional and has a great heart for animals. I absolutely trusted her in our home with the critters while we were away. She even came on her own time to meet the dogs before we left. The dogs were very happy when I got home. I received super cute pictures of them each day the sitter was there. Thanks again, I will definitely hire this pet sitter again!”

Dog care is my life, literally! I quit my corporate job of 13 years to care for dogs in the Steamboat Springs and surrounding communities. I will take your lead on what your dog needs - you know best! I will also have back up supplies, especially when staying overnight or going out on long hikes.
About: I grew up with a lot of dogs and cats. I have always loved playing with them and taking them on walks. I have spent time at a dog rescue walking dogs and cleaning their kennels. Right now I am working part time as a gardener. I have Monday and Friday and the weekend available. I will also have evenings after 4 available. I have a nice apartment, that has a court yard for your dog to run around in. I have two very friendly cats as well.
“Mikaila did a great jog stopping in twice a day to check on Oy, my elderly dog. She went above and beyond when Oy developed diarrhea and wasn't able to make it out of the house in time. She stepped right up when she came to visit and cleaned up after him on more than one occasion. Oy really enjoyed seeing her during her visits each day while we were out of the country. I would not hesitate to use Mikaila again or recommend her. Very dog caring and responsible person.”

About: I am a former veterinary technician and Veterinary Hospital manager. I have an abiding love for animals and the outdoors. I will take care of your fur baby as I would my own. ❤ I'm currently working part-time, and I'm looking to making pet care a more central part of my life, so I will have plenty of time to give the attention to your kiddo(s) that they deserve. ❤ I have three super friendly dogs of my own, but I wouldn't be bringing them for dog walks or pet sitting unless socialization is something that is desirable. ❤

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
