“We had Faith house sit for us and walk our very excitable golden doodle. Faith was incredibly communicative and took excellent care of our house and pets. Highly recommend!”

“Beth was wonderful. She is so sweet with my little cat and figured out right away how she likes to be pet. I really appreciated her sending pics and letting me know everything was ok. She went above and beyond in her care while I was gone and she is always very punctual and responsible. I’m very glad to have found Beth!!”

“Very sweet girl with a kind heart for pitties, took good care of my senior girls as well as following instructions to be able to give my girls the care they need, especially when I wasn't home. Would definitely re-book with her”

“Elizabeth did a great job watching my two little cats! She’s friendly and attentive and left my place tidy. I felt like my cats got plenty of love while I was gone, which was comforting to me, and she sent me plenty of updates!”

“Trina is such a lifesaver. We had a dog sitter lined up who had to bail on us about 12 hrs before we were supposed to leave on our first ever Disney vacation. She responded to my message immediately, was available on short notice and honestly spoiled the heck out of my dog! My dog is a senior citizen and takes 2-4 meds a day. She made sure he got all his meds, followed an intricate feeding schedule, and loved him as her own. She checked in with me daily to assure us he was doing well. She also helped feed our fish and turtle. What a lifesaver! We returned to happy animals and a very clean house. We will definitely be using Trina for all our vacations from here on out!”

“I couldn’t be more grateful for the care Tanya provided our two dogs! They are two rescues who can be a bit challenging at times, but she was so patient, understanding, and handled them with so much love. It gave me a real peace of mind knowing they were in such capable hands. Highly recommend!”

About: What sets me apart is my patience, reliability, and genuine love for dogs. I understand that every pet has unique needs, so I adapt my care to their personality and routine. Whether it’s an energetic puppy needing extra playtime, a senior dog requiring gentle attention, or a shy pet that needs patience to build trust, I’m committed to providing safe, compassionate, and dependable care. My goal is to make every dog feel comfortable, happy, and loved while giving owners complete peace of mind. I work Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, so I’m available for morning walks before work, evening visits, and overnight pet care during the week. I’m also available most weekends, which allows me to spend extra time with pets for walks, drop-in visits, or extended care. I always make sure each pet gets the attention, exercise, and care they need. I always follow the owner’s instructions carefully to ensure each pet stays comfortable and maintains their normal routine. I respect feeding schedules, exercise needs, medications (if required), and any special care instructions. Whether I’m caring for a pet in my home or in the owner’s home, I provide a safe, clean, and calm environment while giving each pet the time, attention, and affection they deserve. My priority is making every pet feel secure, happy, and well cared for.
“Elizabeth did a great job watching my dogs while I was away. She handled two pretty demanding dogs with ease and communicated proactively throughout to ensure all my concerns were addressed. I can tell my dogs had a great time with her and would highly recommend her to anyone.”

About: I've taken care of dogs and cats previously. One little chihuahua back and a cat back when I lived with my parents and recently took care of a big dog back in Washington as well as another cat on my own recently. I'm good with animals, understand when they need to be fed and how much attention they need to keep them happy. I keep a clean apartment and have good space for them to move around. I prefer to be called in advance but am willing to take pets on the same day. If they are dropped during weekdays, I get off at 4pm usually. I like to give a consistent schedule for feeding. I give many walks for any dogs I'm watching. I have two towers for cats. There's a lot of room in the apartment complex to walk dogs and a park close by. I have two cats, so I would prefer to take care of dogs/cats that are known to get along with others.
“If you are looking for someone to stay in your home and give lots of love and care for your pet, Jillian is just wonderful and I would highly recommend!! What was unique about Jillian is that she stayed in our home the entire time. She followed all of my instructions, provided daily updates and pictures and when she left, she washed the linens and the home was clean and tidy. She may not be able to provide the fast, active walk with your pet, but she is fully capable to walk and play with your pet. I ended up booking another dog walker separately for a more active walk. This arrangement worked perfectly for me and worth the additional cost, as I would rather have my dog be with a loving sitter in my home where my dog was not left alone than having more dog walks. I will definitely be booking Jillian again! She was a joy to work with and I know she made my dog feel safe and loved. Thank you.”

“Alex worked with our one dog who was nervous around him at first. He spent a lot of time at our house with our two dogs while we were on vacation. When we came back our dogs were tired and happy.”

“Noemi was great at communicating and providing updates while we were gone! Our dog is typically skeptical of new people, but warmed up to her immediately in a way we rarely see. She was willing to do a meet and greet before staying with our pup which put us at easy. I would definitely user her again.”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs since I was 8 including my hound and lab for the last 9 years. I’ve cared for dogs of all ages and use dog walks as exercise. I’m flexible, patient and detail-oriented. I’m attending graduate school in the fall and spring with lots of availability in the summer. During the school year, my schedule varies but most of my evenings are free. I will go over any specific instructions with you prior to walks or pet sitting. I am happy to discuss any concerns or special needs!
“Maya did an outstanding job for us. She accepted a last minute request, which included a 6-day stay at our home while we were out of town on vacation. She connected very well with our 72 pound medium Bernedoodle, giving him lots of attention and care. Everything went smoothly and she remained focused and supportive to the end, even when our return flight was delayed by 3 hours. Thanks again Maya.”

“Sydney is awesome. She loves our dogs…and our dogs love her. She gave them all the attention and play time they could handle and were kept on a schedule that they were used to. She is awesome and our boys can’t wait to have her pup sit them again!”
About: Hi, I'm Chelly! I've always been an animal lover and have had the privilege of loving and caring for so many fur babies at Yuppy Puppy in Lake Bluff for about 2 years! I'm based in the Lake County and North Shore area, but if you're a bit farther out, don't worry, I'm always open to finding the perfect fit. Whether your pup needs a walk, your cat wants a friendly check-in, or you need someone to house sit while you're away, I am ready to help! I love working with animals of all ages and backgrounds, playful puppies, curious kittens, wise seniors, and even pets who need medications or a little extra love. I'm here to attend to your pets and your needs as an owner! :) I have a dog of my own, a sweet doodle named Bambi, and she ignites my love for dogs every single day. I know your pet is truly family and I promise to care for them as if they were my own, showering them with love and sending you plenty of photos so you always know how they're doing. 🐾 ♡ I have an extremely flexible schedule to fit all pet parent needs! I am currently a student in online summer school, but am available Monday-Saturday, 6:00 AM - 5:00 PM. I'm always willing to work outside this schedule for the right person, so don't be afraid to ask. :) When I’m house sitting, my goal is for your pet to feel like they’re hanging out with a friend, not just someone filling in. I pay close attention to the little rituals, favorite toys, bedtime snuggles, and those everyday quirks that mean so much to your pet. I’ll do my best to keep their world steady and familiar, so they can truly relax while you’re away. Your home will be treated with respect, and your furry companion will get plenty of love until you return. I always pay attention to detail, making sure doors are secure, gates are latched, and your pet can explore safely. Whether we’re out for a sunny walk or just lounging at home, I’m watching for every tail wag, ear perk, or sign that your pet needs something. With experience caring for both mellow seniors and energetic pups, I’m flexible and patient, ready to adapt to whatever makes your pet happiest. Your pet will always be treated like family! :)
“Highly recommend Kortney! Leaving my pup for a week is never easy, but she made the entire experience stress-free! She treated my dog like her own and provided regular updates and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. When I got home, I could tell she had been happy, loved, and exceptionally well cared for. I’m so grateful for the wonderful care Kortney provided and will absolutely book with her again. ❤️🐾”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - North Chicago
TIffany was a Great pet/house sitter in every dimension. She was clearly attentive to our cat in terms of caring and in sharing information. She was equally caring of our home in numerous ways. I would definitely employ her again and, thus, recommend her to others.
Tiffany was excellent to work with when we needed a dog sitter in our home. Our dog Freya loved her very quickly, even though she is typically shy when first meeting. Tiffany was very transparent about her schedule and was able to accommodate staying with Freya overnight, which was very important to us. She communicated quickly and frequently. She was also flexible with the end time when our trip has delayed and stayed an extra day. I would happily work with Tiffany again.

FAQs for House Sitting - North Chicago
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 7,008 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across North Chicago. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred North Chicago walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in North Chicago maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in North Chicago choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
