“Faith did a great job taking care of my two babies while I was in the city for a day. She shared updates, photos, and asked questions to ensure she was providing the best care.”

“Tanya was the best. She stayed at our house watched our pets and house for a week. We have a dog with severe mobility issues, an 18 year old cat and 2 younger cats — all with unique needs and 2 that require meds. She was so wonderful with our fur family and home. HIGHLY recommend her services to anyone who cares about their pets being well taken care of and loved. She also dealt with packages and cleaning people and day to day household responsibilities with ease. She sent us pictures and kept us updated daily. Thank you!!!”
“Noemi was an absolute rockstar!!! Not only did she accept our last minute booking, she continued the house sit when our a/c went out the morning of our trip! She still agreed to stay overnight, even when I gave her the option not to, and made sure our pets were safe in the heat, not to mention letting in the a/c guy for repairs. She was communicative, and we came back to very happy pets! I highly recommend Noemi!”

“Beth is so great with my 2 dogs. She sends pictures and tells me how their day is going. She also communicates any problems that arise. Beth is very easy to work with and follows all the instructions for the care of the house and pets. I really appreciate the way she takes care of everything!”

About: Hello! My name is Samantha, and I’m your next pet caretaker! I’m living in Gurnee, but im willing to go anywhere within 10ish miles of me :) I have a dog at home with my mom and two cats at my apartment, so I’m more than experienced with the level of care and responsibility needed to take care of your furry friends. I was also a house manager for a family in Grayslake for three years in college, which included taking care of their dogs as a part of the family when I was home on break. I can provide safe, quality walks for your furry friends, as well as timely, care filled in-home or backyard playtime, feeding, minor grooming, or quality time. I have my furry friends on the perfect schedule, so I have plenty of time to take care of yours. I’m ready to be your best friend's new best friend :) I’m currently working part time, so I have plenty of time to take care of your dogs or cats. Both walks and drop in available! I currently do not provide care in my home, but I am eager to give your dog a fun and quality walk, or even in home visits for dogs or cats! I’ll make sure they’re having tons of fun while feeling all of the love while their human is away :)
About: I’ve been pet sitting on and off for the last 10 years. I love animals! My goal is to make your babies feel as comfortable as possible. It can be extremely stressful leaving your parents, and so I do my best to keep their care as consistent as I can. I’m very active, so I enjoy long walks and playing outside. I’m extremely patient. If your pet is old or has special needs they are safe with me! Right now I’m job hunting so my availability is extremely flexible! I’m accepting same day care if available! If you need care last minute, I’d be happy to help! I believe in consistency. We go outside and eat at the same time everyday. It’s stressful being away from your parents so I do my best to keep their days as consistent as I can. I don’t have an issue with pets on the couch or in bed. I just wipe their feet first! My only real restriction is I don’t allow pets in the kitchen when I cook. While they in my home, I want them to feel at home!
“Fantastic! Scott was ann absolute lifesaver and helped me when I was In a crunch. He promptly responded to a last minute request . He toolk such good care of my pup Lily, who has separation anxiety. He walked Lily and made her feel comfortable and at ease. My pup was in great hands with Scott, who is an extremely flexible, reliable sitter. Thank you so much, Scott!!”

“Elizabeth did a great job watching my dogs while I was away. She handled two pretty demanding dogs with ease and communicated proactively throughout to ensure all my concerns were addressed. I can tell my dogs had a great time with her and would highly recommend her to anyone.”

About: What sets me apart is my patience, reliability, and genuine love for dogs. I understand that every pet has unique needs, so I adapt my care to their personality and routine. Whether it’s an energetic puppy needing extra playtime, a senior dog requiring gentle attention, or a shy pet that needs patience to build trust, I’m committed to providing safe, compassionate, and dependable care. My goal is to make every dog feel comfortable, happy, and loved while giving owners complete peace of mind. I work Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, so I’m available for morning walks before work, evening visits, and overnight pet care during the week. I’m also available most weekends, which allows me to spend extra time with pets for walks, drop-in visits, or extended care. I always make sure each pet gets the attention, exercise, and care they need. I always follow the owner’s instructions carefully to ensure each pet stays comfortable and maintains their normal routine. I respect feeding schedules, exercise needs, medications (if required), and any special care instructions. Whether I’m caring for a pet in my home or in the owner’s home, I provide a safe, clean, and calm environment while giving each pet the time, attention, and affection they deserve. My priority is making every pet feel secure, happy, and well cared for.
“Alex worked with our one dog who was nervous around him at first. He spent a lot of time at our house with our two dogs while we were on vacation. When we came back our dogs were tired and happy.”

“This was our first time having Lindsey watch our 2 dogs and housesit overnight. She gave us a courtesy call the day before to confirm what time we needed her to arrive and what time we expected her to stay with the dogs the folllowing day. Our dogs have seperate medical prescription needs which I provided. She took the extra measure to recap their needs via text after she arrived at our home. She sent me updates and pictures during her stay which put me at ease. She was very conscientious and showed how much she cared for the wellbeing of my dogs. We were very pleased with her service. So much so that we have already booked her for a future dog/housesitting . We highly recommend Lindsey for your petcare needs.”

About: As a lifelong dog lover, I’ve had the joy of raising two dogs from puppies, giving me firsthand experience with everything from potty training and basic training to the high energy and patience that young dogs require. I have been dog sitting for friends & family in Michigan & Illinois for 3 years now. In my professional life, I’m an Occupational Therapist who works with older adults. I regularly help residents safely care for and enjoy time with their beloved pets, so I’m experienced in recognizing changes in behavior, adapting to individual needs, and providing calm, attentive care. I’m also comfortable with senior dogs who may need a slower pace. Because I’m young and active, I love getting outside for walks, playtime, and adventures that help energetic dogs stay happy and engaged. Whether your pup wants a long walk, a game of fetch, or just lots of cuddles and companionship, I’ll tailor my care to their personality and routine. My goal is to treat every dog as if they were my own, so you can feel confident they’re safe, loved, and having a great time while you’re away! I work a normal 9-5 Monday-Friday. Therefore I prefer to do Friday afternoon-Sunday evening stays! This way I am available 24/7 for the pet. I have a fenced in yard (that is also dig proof). I currently have one very friendly dog who would be eager to any pups companion. My dog is allowed on furniture/in beds. We have a lot of sidewalks & trails within our neighborhood for walks. I have multiple security cameras.
“Danya did overnight cat sitting for us and we were very happy! She spent a lot of time with our cat and sent several updates and photos. She took good care of our house and we will be rebooking!”

“Trina is such a lifesaver. We had a dog sitter lined up who had to bail on us about 12 hrs before we were supposed to leave on our first ever Disney vacation. She responded to my message immediately, was available on short notice and honestly spoiled the heck out of my dog! My dog is a senior citizen and takes 2-4 meds a day. She made sure he got all his meds, followed an intricate feeding schedule, and loved him as her own. She checked in with me daily to assure us he was doing well. She also helped feed our fish and turtle. What a lifesaver! We returned to happy animals and a very clean house. We will definitely be using Trina for all our vacations from here on out!”

About: I have always loved dogs. I've had many dogs growing up and have one of my own for 15 years now. I rescued her when she was only 9 weeks old and she means the world to me. I'm a big softie when it comes to dogs, I absolutely love them and love taking care of them. To keep myself from getting more dogs, I try to find ways to be with them in any kind of way. I've watched numerous friends' dogs in addition to dog sitting on Rover and fostered dogs and I can't get enough of it. Why I love dog sitting: I have had a dog in my life since before I can remember, growing up we always had dogs at the house. When I moved out on my own and finally got a dog of my very own, she has become like my own child. She has been there for me when I have had some of my worst days and some of my best days. I know I’m not the only one to feel this way and I want to be able to be a safe and caring place/person for those that feel the same towards their fur child. I enjoy the experience of caring for a variety of dogs and honestly to get even more cuddles!! About my yard: No back yard, I live in a townhouse. There is a large open grass area less than a 3 minute walk down the block, a dog park about a 5 minute drive away, and I’m surrounded by narrow preserves with endless trails. My experience administering medication As long as I am shown/instructed as to how to administer the medication before hand I would be comfortable with it. I work full-time during the weekdays only and I’m about 20-30 minute drive from my home so I’m close enough to come home during lunch if absolutely needed. I’d care for them as my own. I’ve got cameras throughout the house that I can access at all times during the day to keep an eye if needed. If I’m house sitting for your pet, I’d respect every boundary put in place and encourage the use of indoor cameras to keep you at ease.
“Elizabeth did a great job watching my two little cats! She’s friendly and attentive and left my place tidy. I felt like my cats got plenty of love while I was gone, which was comforting to me, and she sent me plenty of updates!”

“Jillian was great with our dog and cat and made us feel so comfortable when we left for the weekend ! She was responsive and sent lots of photos. She was very loving with our pets. We would definitely recommend her”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Gurnee
I highly recommend Lindsey for dogsitting and housesitting. I have 2 senior dogs that she cared for when I needed to be away overnight. One of my senior dogs has many health issues that require special care. Lindsey texted me and sent pics throughout her time with my dogs with detailed updates on how they were doing. This put my mind at ease knowing my dogs were being well cared for. She also did a great job watching over our home while she was here. She will always be my first choice should I need pet care in the future. Thank you Lindsey!!

I couldn’t be more grateful for the care Tanya provided our two dogs! They are two rescues who can be a bit challenging at times, but she was so patient, understanding, and handled them with so much love. It gave me a real peace of mind knowing they were in such capable hands. Highly recommend!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Gurnee on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 4,481 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Gurnee. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Gurnee walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Gurnee maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Gurnee choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Gurnee. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
