“Haylee was very courteous and responsible. She took great care of my cat Phoebe and of my home as well. She followed all instructions and sent lots of photos which was greatly appreciated!”

“SO happy & pleased with how Megan & Lucky treated our precious Wilson and home. We feel so lucky to have found them. They left our home in tip-top shape and Wilson was as happy as can be :) Seriously impressed!”
“Took fantastic care of my dog, who’s still in a very high energy phase of his life and has some reactivity issues. He’s also a drama king, and Bailey spoon fed him on one of his fussier days!”

“Sherry and Bob were very attentive to our Yorkie and went the extra mile during bad weather to ensure he was taken care of while we were gone. Very responsive and I would highly recommend them!”

“Kris was great with my very anxious dog! Gave her space and frequently updated me. She's a very great house sitter. I look forward to working with her in the future!”

About: I’m a caring person who loves dogs and grew up with a lab. I have experience with taking care of friends puppies and senior dogs. I love to play hard with them so they can sleep good for you! I can walk dogs before I go to work and, take them out immediately when I get back home. I will also make sure they are being fed at the right times. I’m happy to transport pets and have them stay at my apartment for up to a week. I will provide long walks with them on leash and follow procedures at a client’s home. Making sure that the pet is comfortable is a top priority for me.

“Samantha was wonderful with our cat Buddy! She spent a lot of time with him every day and took very good care of him including brushing and spending time on the deck together. She sent pictures every day so I could see how happy Buddy was!”

“I really appreciated that Brianna knows that each dog will have its quirks and was ready and willing to adapt to a dog who can be aggressive/intimidating at first. Through patience and treats, she and Mack became good friends! She was very responsive and accommodating, and she kept a good level of contact throughout the weekend.”
“Kallyn is a consummate professional and fantastic at what she does! This was our first time booking with Kallyn and I think we’ve found our forever pet and house sitter. From our initial consult, where she came to our home and spent over an hour getting to know our dogs (I was impressed with the questions she asked from medical needs to our dog’s preferences), to the numerous photos and updates throughout her stay, you can tell she cares deeply about each animal and it was evident our pups enjoyed every minute with her. The peace of mind that provided me was worth every penny and then some.”

About: I have always had dogs in my life. From a black lab hunting dog, to an elderly chihuahua, and a puppy Siberian husky! I currently have two cats (mama & kitty) that I rescued from a foster home. Pets are the best!! I’m a retired US Air Force officer, so I have a lot of flexibility. I enjoy walking and taking my grand-dogs to the dog park. I’m home a lot because I’m retired from the military, so I have a ton of flexibility. So, I can spend a lot of time with your pet.
“There are no words to express my gratitude to Jessica she was sweet and caring. I was out for a weekend and it is the first time I had to live my cat alone; Jessica babysat her and followed all the routine and perks my cat is used to. Even though Peggy is sort on the shy side, she loved Jessica and I was able to confirmed it when Jessica stopped by to drop the keys, my cat went down her tower to greet her. I will definitely schedule her again if I need to get out of town.”

About: I grew up with dogs and as an adult, I have had 3 cats. Sadly they have passed away from old age. In the future, I plan on having another pet, but in the meantime, I can love and care for other people's animals! Friends and family have relied on me to walk, feed and take care of their pets. I do work full-time Monday through Friday, but my schedule would be available on weekends and some weekdays after 5:30 PM. Holidays can be an option also. My main values are providing safety, trust and love to your pets with respect to the pet owners. When I am with your pet you will be worry free!

About: I have pet sat for family members and friends. I also have worked at Wag’n Wash and have a lot of experience with all different types of breeds and temperaments. I know how to properly handle and deal with most if not all situations. I am home for the summer from college in the middle of May, and after I’m home I will be free most of the week with some errands and stuff I have to do in between some days. So I will be able to house sit during the week or just take them on walks or check up on them, depending on what the client wants to do. I work weekends but am able to take breaks and stop by the house if needed. I will insure all the care is specialized to each animal and what service I provide for them. With each pet I will come up with a specific care plan for them and review it with the owner to insure they get a say in what happened while they are gone.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred New Trier walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in New Trier maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in New Trier choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
