“Our pup seemed very relaxed when we got home which is usually not the case. From the pictures Haylee sent, I can tell Hatty really was comfortable with her! Will definitely use again”

“Nina was excellent. We had a lot of changes due to family situations and she just rolled with it. Great job of let us know our dog was doing well every day. We could hardly tell that anyone stayed in our house a week.”

“Took fantastic care of my dog, who’s still in a very high energy phase of his life and has some reactivity issues. He’s also a drama king, and Bailey spoon fed him on one of his fussier days!”

“Rachel is wonderful !!! She and my 1 yr old Goldador Remigus (Remi) instantly bonded at the meet and greet and became great best buddies and new friends. Would highly recommend and plan on more housesitting and/or visits when needed! Thanks so much Rachel !!! Julie and Remi”

“Julia was a great companion and caregiver for our dog this weekend. She was attentive and communicated well with us regarding her time with him. The house was well kept and all his needs were met!”

About: I grew up with dogs and as an adult, I have had 3 cats. Sadly they have passed away from old age. In the future, I plan on having another pet, but in the meantime, I can love and care for other people's animals! Friends and family have relied on me to walk, feed and take care of their pets. I do work full-time Monday through Friday, but my schedule would be available on weekends and some weekdays after 5:30 PM. Holidays can be an option also. My main values are providing safety, trust and love to your pets with respect to the pet owners. When I am with your pet you will be worry free!
“There are no words to express my gratitude to Jessica she was sweet and caring. I was out for a weekend and it is the first time I had to live my cat alone; Jessica babysat her and followed all the routine and perks my cat is used to. Even though Peggy is sort on the shy side, she loved Jessica and I was able to confirmed it when Jessica stopped by to drop the keys, my cat went down her tower to greet her. I will definitely schedule her again if I need to get out of town.”

“Ana did a great job caring for Ruby and communicating with us while we were out of town. Our house was well cared for as well! She was quick to respond to any messages and sent pictures as requested. Would book again!”

About: I have always been a huge animal lover and have been around cats and dogs my whole life. I have one cat of my own and I have had her for 10 years now. I also have 2 dogs. I grew up always having cats and dogs in the family. I would love you watch your pets and make sure they are happy and healthy while you are out of town, or at work all day. Message me for dog walking, drop in visits, or other inquires. I will always treat your pet as my own, and make sure that they are comfortable while you can’t be with them. I hope that you contact me to help you take care of your pets while you are away from home! I am going to school full time, but I am very flexible with my hours with half my classes being online this semester. I play with my own pets throughout each day and walk my dogs often. I have a fenced yard and two dogs that are friendly once they warm up to new people and that would love to meet new friends. At drop in visits, I care for your pet based off the information the owner gives me.
“I really appreciated that Brianna knows that each dog will have its quirks and was ready and willing to adapt to a dog who can be aggressive/intimidating at first. Through patience and treats, she and Mack became good friends! She was very responsive and accommodating, and she kept a good level of contact throughout the weekend.”
“Kept in touch. Sent photos. Replied to messages timely. Friendly. Their little girl loves dogs. She was very excited to stay with them. House was clean, Washed sheets and made bed before we returned.”

“Christine was very good with our 2 dogs and cat. While staying in our home, she left it clean and cared for it as if it were her own. Definitely will call again.”

“Samantha was so wonderful with Buddy! She spent a lot of time brushing and petting him so he was a happy kitty while we were gone. Everything in the house was neat and clean when we got home. I would highly recommend Samantha!”

“Katrina is fantastic! She is super attentive and our dog loved her. She is a great communicator and very conscientious. Next time we are out of town, she’s going to be our go to dog and house sitter!!”

“We were so happy to find Kelsi to spend the night with Dollar. This was our first time using Rover and we would definitely recommend Kelsi and will likely try to book her again. Dollar loved her as well as we saw in the pic updates she sent.”
“I can't say enough good things about Seth! (Same person as this profile, Rover's just slow on name updates). Our dog has serious separation anxiety and we booked Seth based on his experience and willingness to work through Dobby's anxiety and fear of strangers. The day after we left, Dobby's fear kicked in and Seth was AMAZING at working with him slowly, at his pace, to help him get to neutral, and finally comfortable, with having a pet sitter in the house. Seth kept us updated the entire time so we could know how Dobby was progressing and make recommendations on how to help ease his fearfulness. Once Dobby was more relaxed, Seth continued to keep us updated, sending lots of photos and feedback on Dobby's mood, his walks, how he ate, etc. Seth far exceeded our expectations and we feel incredibly grateful he took such wonderful care of Dobby. We will ? be booking with him again.”

“Kallyn is a consummate professional and fantastic at what she does! This was our first time booking with Kallyn and I think we’ve found our forever pet and house sitter. From our initial consult, where she came to our home and spent over an hour getting to know our dogs (I was impressed with the questions she asked from medical needs to our dog’s preferences), to the numerous photos and updates throughout her stay, you can tell she cares deeply about each animal and it was evident our pups enjoyed every minute with her. The peace of mind that provided me was worth every penny and then some.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of September 2026, there are 2,844 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Vermillion. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Vermillion walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Vermillion maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Vermillion choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
