Provided a calm and comforting environment while assisting with & administrating medications, vaccinations, blood draws, x-rays, etc. Maintained a fear-free environment and prevented waiting-area conflicts between patients while at the front desk completing clerical duties. I am applying to veterinary school and have a lot if flexibility with my schedule. Since I'm taking a break from working in hospitals and focusing on my academics, I would love to keep petcare as part of my routine. I have been a volunteer at the world’s largest no-kill shelter for 2 years now. I have handled dogs of all ages, sizes, breeds, and temperaments. I have worked with blind and senior dogs. I have run puppy play groups, as well as puppy mill, senior, and teen play groups. some behavioral challenges in dogs that I have worked with include: fearful; reactive; food and/or object possessive; stranger danger; seperation anxiety; dog vs dog aggression; strong leadership; mouthy; and more i’m sure i’m forgetting. I have taken several extensive dog training classes to improve my skill and knowledge. I was the first 16 year old to reach one of the most advanced dog levels. I am very well-versed in understanding dog body language. I have dealt with sick dogs as well as dogs with skin conditions. I have helped get the neighbors dog to eat, as well as go potty and play, and dog walked for several clients. I also have experience with cats from the shelter as i have taken advanced feline behavior classes. I am able to understand cat body language fairly well. I have worked with cats as well as kittens, and cat sat several times. I can care for, and clean up after, dogs and/or cats. I will always respect your pets boundaries. On walks I have a steady balance and strong leash hold to ensure the dog stays with me. I may carry treats with me for minor training/intervention (if allowed and if the dog pulls or something like that). About: I have had dogs sinceI was a child. I know how to do basic puppy obedience training, specialized diets, senior care, long walks, training new fun tricks, bathing, and more! I can work almost any day of the week if given notice in advance! I am a very active person and can do multiple walks per day if nessecary I can easily crate dogs and deescalate situations that may be hard to handle. I keep all belongings and other items out of reach from the dog, including table food, and anything else that we don’t want out fur babies getting into!
