“Hannah did wonderful with our dog Lexi. You could tell that Lexi enjoyed having Hannah at the house, she was a happy girl. The house was clean and in order!! We have booked our next time away with Hannah!!”

“Robert was very attentive to our dog. He took him on walks and spent a lot of time hanging out with him. He kept us updated throughout our trip and sent lots of pictures. We were very happy with him. I would highly recommend him and will use him again!”

About: First things first I charge per visit per dog. I have worked at a doggy daycare where I look after dogs, clean up after them as well as bath them. I have been taking care of animals since I was 8 and dogs specifically for 10 years. I currently have 6 dogs that I care for. I have also cared for reptiles, rabbits, and cats. I walk my dogs (yes all 6 of them) daily and I find that I have extra time on my hands that I would love to help others with their pet needs, I do twice daily feedings, bi weekly washings and teeth brushing. I do use corrective action when needed such as squirt bottles with water ( some dogs like it and acts as a nice reward or distraction). I will clap or use a stern voice for corrections if necessary or basic commands like sit, stay, down to refocus their energy into something beneficial. For reward pets and treats of course if allowed, extended walks and or play times. I’ve also cared for injured dogs when necessary and dogs with medical issues that need medication.
“Meghan is awesome! She clearly took amazing care not only our pets (a dog and a cat) for the nearly two weeks we were on vacation, but our home was somehow cleaner than when we left! She sent daily updates, let us know if anything was unusual, and was overall an excellent communicator and a delight to chat with! We highly recommend Meghan and will definitely be booking her again the future.”

“We needed an emergency sitter for our puppy Pete who is recovering from surgery and Katryna came to the rescue. She was conscientious and very kind with our little guy and we would definitely have her watch him again.”

“Beverly was awesome. This was the first time we were away from our 150lb mastiff puppy and we were worried about him. Bev made us very comfortable during the meet and greet and communicated with us up until the the sit started to ensure she had all the details and care instructions. On the day of the sit she showed up right on time and settled in before we had to leave, so the puppies would get used to her being in the house. During the next few days she took wonderful care of our furbabies. She played with them and cuddled with them when they were moping and was persistent about trying to get them to eat. Pretty soon they were following her around everywhere. She sent us a lot of pictures of them and the house was immaculately clean when we got back. We would love for her to care for our babies again in the future.”

About: I have been volunteering in a local animal shelter for about 6 months and after graduating from the University of Pittsburgh I am looking to commit more time to helping out the people and pets in my community! In the shelter I helped admitted lost animals and I have experience walking and taking dogs out for field trips. During field trips I would walk dogs through frick park, relax on my porch, and take them to get a pup cup! I loved being able to help out the dogs and give them the love they deserve! I have passed the Fear Free shelter program and have experience with dog walking as well as caring for my family’s own cat and dog. I am excited to start this new journey! I currently work from home 9-5 in the Doylestown area. I’m an active adult who already likes to walk throughout my day and would love to add a dog friend to that! I would have time at lunch, as well as before or after work to care for your dog. My lunch is flexible so I can work around you! On weekends I have open availability. In the middle of work days I would not be able to provide more than 30 minutes walking or spending time with your dog, but before/after week days and during weekends I could spent up to and hour with your dog to give them extra love! In my client’s home I would care for the pet just as you would! I would ask for and follow your instructions on how you would like your pet cared for and would of course give him or her lots of love!
“Amanda was sweet, prompt, and accommodating. She came in and handled Athena perfectly from the very beginning and continued to communicate throughout. My dog absolutely adored her and I would highly recommend ❤️”

“Kaitlyn pet/house sat for us recently, and we are so grateful for her help. She kept us regularly informed of our babies and was comfortable asking questions. It was wonderful knowing we had someone we could trust taking care of our critters!”

“Angelica was amazing! She watched over our dog, Polly, for several days and treated her with such care. Angelica was very communicative and shared lots of photos which we loved. We’d absolutely book with her again in the future!”

About: I have extensive experience caring for cats/kittens, dogs/puppies, hamsters, bunnies, fish, chinchillas, ferrets, and more! I have over 5 years of experience as a professional animal care-taker where I cared for all sorts of animals as well as gave advice to customers on individual issues with their pets. My family also owns a farm so I learned a respect for animals at a very young age! Currently I have 2 rambunctious pet ferrets but growing up I had 2 dogs, 2 cats, a bunny, and fish! I have cared for many dogs and puppies in my neighborhood and for family and friends. I love dogs of all sizes and don't mind caring for multiple pets. I am currently a student, so I'll have plenty of time for walks, to play fetch with your energetic puppy, clean up soiled puppy pads, whatever you need! I'm available for housesitting, drop-in visits, and walks. I can take your pups for as many walks as you'd like; I am a very active person who loves walking/hiking! If you have a high-energy dog I can also take them on my daily runs! If your pet is more relaxed, I also love just spending time playing and giving lots of pets.
“My dog, Dakota, trusted Sadie right off the bat. She is professional and kind, and I knew that Dakota was in good hands during our trip! Sadie kept in touch during our time away. When we returned, we found that our home was also well taken care of. We strongly recommend Sadie!”

“If I could give Sabrina more than 5 stars, I would. She cared for our four cats and one dog over a 16-day span while we were abroad in Japan, and saying she went above and beyond would be an understatement. Our pet care routine is very detailed and specific, but Sabrina followed every instruction to the letter—with love, diligence, and an incredible level of care that left us completely at ease the entire time we were away. From feeding the cats their two kibble meals and one wet food meal daily, to preparing our dog’s two meals of mixed kibble and wet food perfectly each time, Sabrina never missed a beat. She administered oral, liquid medication to one of our cats with great skill and consistency, and properly mixed our dog’s medication into her food so subtly that it never disrupted her eating habits. She even cleaned and changed all seven of the water dishes every other day as instructed, which we know is no small task with that many animals. She maintained exceptional food safety by using the dedicated pet sponge to clean up after every meal—something that truly speaks to her attention to detail and respect for our home. Speaking of which, she respected all our house rules and kept the home in pristine condition throughout her stay. Sabrina also took on our cat's weight loss play-regimen with enthusiasm and dedication, making sure all our cats stayed active daily. Thanks to her, the cats either maintained or continued their healthy weight loss, depending on their needs. When one of them (who tends to lose weight when stressed) dropped a bit too much, she thoughtfully provided extra treats throughout the day—helping her gain back just the right amount of weight by the time we returned. Two of our cats have long hair and require regular brushing to avoid matting. Sabrina not only kept up with their grooming schedule, but did such a great job that one of them, who has difficulties grooming himself, had minimal matting upon our return—an incredible improvement from what we've seen before. Despite balancing her schooling and a part-time job, Sabrina made it a priority to be home with the pets most of the day, every day—just like they’re used to. This was especially important for our more emotionally sensitive cat, who is prone to stress-related paw sores or excessive grooming. Thanks to Sabrina’s consistency, care, and timely medication, he showed no signs of stress-related behaviors at all. Her presence was clearly therapeutic. She also mastered our household’s delicate pre-feeding routine. When the cats would get a little too riled up, she calmly de-escalated the situation using a “time-out” method that worked so well, we’re continuing it ourselves now. It was genius and exactly what they needed. As for our dog—she was in heaven! Sabrina walked her three times a day plus a final outing before bed, making sure she never went too long without exercise or a potty break. We could tell from the photos just how happy she was. Oh yes—the photos. Every day, Sabrina sent us detailed reports of the pets’ activities, moods, and any small hiccups she faced, along with how she handled them. She also sent dozens of photos—candid moments, nap times, play sessions, walks—you name it. It brought us so much peace and joy to see them thriving in her care. When we returned, we were met with an immaculate home and very happy pets. In fact, every single one of them now runs up to greet her whenever she visits, including our one antisocial cat who typically avoids everyone. That kind of bond can’t be faked—it’s clear they truly love and trust her, just as we do. Our trip to Japan simply wouldn’t have been possible without Sabrina. Her dedication, responsibility, and compassion gave us complete confidence while we were away. We trust her deeply and genuinely respect and appreciate the person she is. Without question, we will continue to rely on her for any and all future travel plans. Sabrina is not just a pet sitter—she’s an extended part of our family now.”

“If you're looking for a trustworthy and amazing pet sitter, look no further! Rachel is the perfect choice! She took care of our four dogs for five days in our home, and they were showered with love and attention. We received daily updates and photos, which was such a nice touch. Coming home to a spotless house and happy pups was a delight. Thank you, Rachel! We truly appreciate everything you did!”

“Alex is the best! We truly appreciated the photos and updates and felt very secure with Alex’s confident and caring approach. Our home was left in pristine condition and our dogs were content and relaxed! Highly recommend Alex, especially if you have dogs who can be a little slow to warm up to new people.”

“McKayla is great. She listened to the instructions I have for my dog which put me at ease. She also took photos and communicated throughout the day. She really cares about your animals and I could tell they were happy. I would definitely recommend her and will have to ask her back!”

“Brooke was awesome, as usual. She sent daily photos or videos of the dogs and kept us updated on their day. Once we got home , the house was as we left it and she had even done extra things (get mail, take out trash, wash sheets) that we hadn’t expected her to do. I would recommend her to watch your dogs and/or house. She’s very reliable and trustworthy.”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred New Britain walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in New Britain maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in New Britain choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
