“10/10 highly recommend! She left my home in better shape than when I had left. Even my babies were better than when I left. My tomatoes were doing poorly, but when I came home they were green with full leaves again. My dog was limping from a pulled muscle and when I came home she was doing better! I'm also super impressed that she kept my goldfish alive. They were on the brink of death from New tank syndrome. I will definitely be booking her again for future travels. Or maybe just randomly when I need her life saving abilities. ❤️”

“Tranae was a phenomenal house and dog sitter while we were away for an extended holiday weekend. She kept in touch, sent photo/video updates and went above and beyond in many ways. Highly recommend!”

“Zach did a great job taking care of Sydney. He looked after Sydney, collected the mail, maintained the house and kept me informed. I would highly recommend him for all your pet sitting needs.”
About: I have an older pup with health issues so i understand the need to have the times and certain circumstances prioritized! For kitties i understand it’s hard for them to warm up and i am very patient and want them to feel comfortable regardless of where they are! I work 12am-12:30pm saturday through monday so during the week i have some down time and what better way to fill it than watch some cuties! For Dogs: I take the pups out on leashes but if you have a fenced yard i can obviously watch them and play with them outside that way! With owner permission i can take them to the dog parks and get more energy out that way! i do not mind dogs getting dirty and then getting in my car. For Cats: I can bring some toys, cat nip, and treats if allowed! I want them to feel comfortable in either their own environment with me there or in my home. Change can be a lot of them but i want all kitties to feel welcomed and calm with me!

“Elizabeth did a great job with Cooper and sent me pictures daily and updates. Cooper loved having her with him and I would definitely recommend & rebook her as a pet sitter in the future!”
“My dog stayed with Christopher for five days. After the initial meet and greet I knew my pupper was in great hands! I got pictures every day. I felt very secure and was able to relax on my vacation knowing he was so well taken care of!”

About: My husband and I have cared for a variety of different dogs and their special needs. We have been foster parents and cared for our aging senior dog until her passing last year. We have dog sat for our family and friend's animals ranging from puppies to seniors. We have a lot of love and patience. My husband and I are very active with access to several local parks and trails. Dogs have been a big part of my life since I was a kid and I can't wait to shower any dog in my care with love and affection. There is plenty of room indoors to stretch out and relax during hot summer days. We have water bowls and dog beds on every floor of the house to maximize comfort level.
“Jessica was so good with Tork. He can be a little shy but he took to her right away. I appreciated how she gave me regular text/photo updates while I was away. I would definitely recommend her to my dog parent friends.”

“Michelle was amazing! It was our first time using Rover and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. She was great with our big dog (~100lbs). Gave him plenty of exercise and sent us updates throughout the weekend. I would definitely recommend her to a friend & she will certainly be our first call next time we need a dog sitter!”

“Cheyanne did a great job watching our home and taking care of our Poppy dog. She gave photo updates everyday which was nice to see he was in good hands. Coming home to a clean home and happy pup was nice. We would hire her again and recommand her to anyone.”

“Daniel was so helpful during his stay at our house! He helped bring the garbage in, collected our packages that were delivered while we were gone and even helped water our plants. We recieved daily pictures and updates about the animals and even an update of wind damage our property endured while we were hone. We will happily have Daniel help us again with our future trips!”

About: I have lived with many different dogs over the years and like being around them. I currently don't own a dog because I live in an apartment and want to have a yard if I plan on owning one. So walking and caring for them gives me the experience I need for my own someday. Right now it's just part time but by summer I am hoping for full-time. I can take Dogs for walks or spend time playing with them. I am also more than willing to pet sit if needed. I also enjoy just chilling with cats. I currently do not own any pets although I have owned cats and horses in the past. I am currently just enjoying taking care of others peoples pets as that fits my lifestyle best at the moment. I am more than willing to give meds if needed and if I am sitting with take time to walk dogs or cats if they need it. I also don't mind grooming daily if needed as well.

Mason was AMAZING. We received regular updates and our home was cleaner than when she arrived. All instructions for care of our pup and the house were followed perfectly. Aldo was relaxed and happy when we got home. If Mason is available, you should book without a second thought.

We had Eden house sit for our 15 year old kitty and a 5 month old puppy who we had never left with a sitter before. Needless to say we were nervous on how the puppy would do since we were on vacation in Mexico for a week. Our puppy immediately warmed up to Eden and Eden kept us updated at least twice a day in addition to lots of cute pictures of our animals. We were very pleased with the care our pets received and look forward to using Eden again when we need to get away.

Amazing is how I describe Isabella! She is great with my pups, treats my home as her own with respect and keeps me updated with pictures of my babies while I’m away! My heart was so at peace when she stayed with them so I could take a trip with my oldest daughter! Will definitely use again!!

Emily was great with our pups, even our super shy girl warmed up to her! We were gone for 6 days and came home to a clean house and 2 happy pups. It makes being away much more enjoyable when you know your furbabies are being well cared for. We will definitely hire Emily again!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Muskegon Heights on Rover is $35.52 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 460 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Muskegon Heights. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Muskegon Heights walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Muskegon Heights maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Muskegon Heights choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
