Margaret was absolutely wonderful with our new puppy and both of our dogs. When our vet called to say our puppy needed medication, she handled everything with care and made sure he was well taken care of. She is dependable, attentive, and clearly treats our dogs with care. We trust her completely and feel so lucky to have someone we can rely on. We highly recommend her!

Andy is the best pet sitter any pet parent can ask for. We had to go out of the country for two weeks, the longest we’ve been away from home and pet. Andy took care of our home and looked after our cat during the entire time, playing with her, keeping her engaged and sending us constant updates and pictures of her. By the end of the stay the two had bonded which was really surprising to us considering our cat gets nervous when we leave. Highly recommend Andy and we’ll definitely want him over for any of our future pet sitting needs.

About: Hi there, I’m Chris! I’ve had some kind of pet in my life ever since I was little, from cats to dogs to aquatic acquaintances! I currently have two cats that bring me so much happiness. I’ve been my friend’s and family’s go to pet sitter for many years due to my obvious love of pets and animals. I’ve taken care of all sizes of dogs and of all ages, as well as mixed species pet families. I establish bonds with the animals I care for which can sometimes make it hard to say goodbye. I adore puppies due to their excitable nature and high energy! Cats have a special place in my heart because of the memories I share with the cats I’ve had but if you were to ask me if I was a cat or dog person; I’d say, “Why can’t you be both?” LGBTQIA+ friendly I graduated from college with a degree in anthropology and am now back in my hometown working a part-time contract job. My work schedule is very flexible so with enough time’s notice I can work any request into it. I am typically free to feed and walk pets in the morning and evening, as typical schedules go. Please let me know if there are any special requests or needs for your animal! I understand the importance of an animals happiness and mental state. I am very much used to taking care of pets in other’s houses and will follow the rules of the house perfectly. I have house sat in Kosher households before so I am familiar with the importance of following set rules. I am okay with pets that sleep on the bed with the owner or having to crate up a pet for the night. I am a private person and often keep to myself; I don’t cause a ruckus! I keep things nice and tidy just like the saying goes, “a place for everything and an everything in its place.”

Krystle very lovingly cared for my puppies and was soooo patient with their potty training! She was an excellent houseguest--brought in our mail and packages, brought in our garbage cans, and washed her own linens and puppies laundry before our return. She sent daily pics and updates assuring us the puppies were getting exercised, cared for, and cuddled. The house and puppies were in excellent condition on our arrival. Thank you so much, Krystle; you made our vacation extra enjoyable!

About: I have 20 years experience with bully breeds, and all the health issues that entails, but I’m open to sitting any breed (they are all good dogs!). I live at the beach, so your pup will get long beach walks and/or mountain trail hikes during the day, then sleepy downtime at night. It’s a pet paradise! Update 2/26: I just adopted a mastiff, so I’m not doing any in home boarding until I get her settled in her new home, but I’m still happy to do drop ins or walks for other dogs. Your dog will enjoy morning beach walks or trail hikes, or walks in a stroller if your pet has mobility issues. Daylight hours are spent being active, and evenings are resto-relaxo. I have a fenced and private front and backyard with fake grass for your pet to use. No stairs to navigate - single level home a block from the ocean. Just tell me your dogs energy level and exercise needs, and I’ll create the perfect doggy vacation!

About: Hi, my name is Patrick and I’ve always had a love for dogs. Growing up, I spent a lot of time caring for family pets, which taught me responsibility, patience, and how much joy animals can bring to everyday life. I enjoy spending time outdoors, whether that’s going on walks, hikes, or simply playing fetch at the park. Pets have always been a big part of my life, and I truly enjoy being around them. Pet care fits easily into my routine. I’m at school Mon–Thurs evenings, but free Thurs night–Sun all day for walks, playtime, care, or house sitting! At home, I care for my 8-month-old puppy with my partner in our clean and organized 3-bed, 2-bath home. I keep things off the floor to create a safe, tidy space, and we also have a fenced backyard with lots of flowers and plants for pets to enjoy. In a client’s home, I follow their routines closely to make sure pets feel comfortable and well cared for.

About: I have been involved in the loving care of animals since I was a child. My passion for animals developed 25 years ago. I have been casually helping friends with pets for well beyond twenty years and no harm has ever come to them, nor, have they been lost. I volunteer with shelters and animal causes in my spare time. I own my home with a fenced in yard. I rarely watch more than one or two animals at a time. I do not smoke or drink, am bondable and am fully insured. I offer your pet(s) a genuine, loving experience with recreational and fun activities.. If I have more then one dog I do separate them while eating in case they like to resource guard .. .. If your animal has separation anxiety please let me know because my goal is to have them have a wonderful time with me… If they are a obsessive barker please share this with me because i live in a town house and dont want to disturb my neighbors.... I would like to be aware of this so I can accommodate their needs … Your dog also must be POTTY TRAINED as well... …Other then that I will send them home a happy and tired dog . I have a flexible schedule that is adaptable to your needs as well as that of your pet. I work for myself and set my own hours so I’m very flexible. I have a fenced in yard that is secure. I NEVER leave animals unattended. I have many toys to play with and bond very quickly with animals. The owner and myself can create a activity plan that surrounds the pet’s individual needs and wants. I have countless years of providing medication and care to animals and can recognize problems before they become bigger issues.

FAQs for House Sitting - Muir Beach

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Muir Beach on Rover is $77.7 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 7,238 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Muir Beach. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Muir Beach walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Muir Beach maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Muir Beach choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Muir Beach. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
