“Blair did a great job attending our two kitties for a 7 day vacation! He dropped by twice a day for 30 minutes- gave the cats food, treats, cleaned their litter and played with them! He was very responsive and sent us pictures and videos of the cats daily. It was my first time leaving my babies, but Blair helped to assuage my guilt of leaving them, by taking care of them so well! I would hire Blair again for our next vacation. Thanks so much Blair!”

“Mark was fantastic! I could tell right from the start that he was going to try his darnedest to get my shy Moira to connect on his visits - when he instantly started to practice the high-pitched voice I use which Moira best responds to on our initial visit lol! Right out of the gate I think he was able to find her under the bed and engage with Churu! While she didn't allow contact every single day - I have no doubt that he tried and he even succeeded on several. I definitely felt safe having Mark taking care of my shy lil' girl.”

“I truly appreciate Paula's efforts. My cat is afraid of everyone, so there has been little in the way of contact. However, Paula has stayed the course, by putting food outside (and fighting off birds), or in the garage; searching for my cat, in the house, and in the yard. I went away for a few days, and I knew I could depend on Paula to follow Simon's detailed regimen. She is almost always available to do drop-ins at the last minute, which has been a blessing!”

“Julianne did a wonderful job looking after our shy cat- she won her over right away! I loved getting photos of each visit and not having to worry about her all weekend.”

About: Whether you need a daily companion or a longterm caregiver, I am delighted to make the most of my time with your pet. I most commonly schedule extended stays with my current clientele, but daily visits/ stays are certainly services I provide. My pet sitting experience dates back to my college years, but I've acquired a more consistent clientele list over the past 5-6 years. I can accommodate specialty dietary needs and administer medications. It is important to prioritize enrichment, such as walks and playtime, to keep your pet happy. I have a vehicle equipped for safe travel, in the event that a vet appointment is scheduled. I currently do not bring pets into my home. I've found that most animals, especially anxious or high-need animals, tend to thrive best in their own homes. I can maintain their regular routines while surrounded by the sights, sounds, and smells they are familiar with. I do free consultations to meet all clients and pets in order to get acquainted with their personalities and routines.

“Erin had great communication throughout the whole process. Our meet & greet was seamless and the whole visit went great with our dog! Highly recommend. We will be booking Erin for future needs!”

“Nicole was fantastic looking after my cat. He’s 16 and can be grumpy but she got him to socialize a bit and even eat treats from her hand. She’s really good with him and great at communication with me while I was away. Definitely will use Nicole’s services again.”

“We had our first booking with Jonathan today. He was very responsive and arrived right on time. He remained calm around all three of our dogs. Will book Jonathan again.”

“Lauren was so attentive and helpful with our baby! We got plenty of pictures and thorough updates, it’s stressful leaving our babies so I’m thrilled I could find someone we feel comfortable with in our home.”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs since I was younger. I have had multiple dogs! I would love to include your fur baby in on the fun! I’ve also worked at 2 dog daycare/ boarding facilities!!! I’m visiting my hometown in Rockaway, New Jersey, until the beginning of October. I’m available to watch your furry friend at any time. Whether it’s letting them out for a walk or twice a day, or keeping them at my place, I’m quite flexible. This will be my sole source of income, so I’m committed to making it work. Your fur baby will have a safe, loving, and comfortable environment while staying with me. I do have two tenants who live downstairs, and we share the backyard. The pups are welcome to enjoy the backyard, but they will always be supervised while outside. I’m also happy to take your fur baby on walks for exercise and potty breaks, and of course there will be plenty of cuddle time, playtime, and attention throughout their stay. I want every pup to feel comfortable, loved, and right at home! Tyson and I are excited to hear from you!!!! 🐶🐾

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Mountain Lakes. On Rover:
- 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
