“Amy was so flexible and thoughtful with our first drop-in visit for Barbie. This was our first time leaving our rescue pup with a sitter and we felt totally comfortable and happy leaving her with Amy. I appreciated the photos and timely communication while we were out. We have a trip coming up and will absolutely have Amy stay with our girl while we are away. We are so grateful we found Amy here in Boise!”

About: I’ve been around animals my whole life and I’ve always loved them so much! They bring an intense happiness to my life and my spirit. They are members of the family and are great for calming my anxiety as well. We have an almost 1 year old German shepherd puppy, who is actually massive and thinks he is a lap dog haha! He makes us laugh everyday. I’m a stay at home mom right now to 4 kids, 2 of them are in school and the other 2 are small still. However, my husband is in his off season right now so he is home and I will be able to go to work and make some money when the time comes! We have some flexibility. I can take them for walks, hang out with dogs outside, play with them with toys, maybe even take them to the dog park or just house sit. I also love to just sit and pet them.

“Sasha took wonderful care of KittyBaby! She is very warm-hearted and I could tell that she has compassion for animals. She texted a photo to me each day she cared for my cat. I enjoyed my trip because I knew Sasha was taking great care of my cat!”

About: Hi! We're Jeremy and Mina. Jeremy works from home and Mina is currently working on her degree online, so we're both home and available to spend lots of time and give lots of love to your furry family members. We've always had pets growing up and couldn't imagine a life without them by our side. Our family consists of two dogs - a dopey but loving Great Pyrenees mix named Opal and a little Corgi with a big personality named Arlo - and an orange tabby cat named Marvin, who on rare occasions gets use of the coveted brain cell. We have a comfortable home with a fenced yard that we know your pet will enjoy as much as ours do! We're here to help whenever you need someone to watch your animals while you're away, and we'll care for and love them like they're one of our own while they're with us. :) We are both home throughout the week and have plenty of time to care for your pets while they're with us. Whether it's going on walks, playing in the yard, or just spending time with them and giving out lots of scritches, we'll either incorporate your dog into our pets' routine or can accommodate whatever schedule and lifestyle your pet is used to! We care for all animals as if they are our own, ensuring that they are comfortable, safe, and most of all - happy! Your pets will be in great care with our family and we are happy to send you updates as often as you need to feel comfortable with the care they are receiving.

About: We have loved and cared for dogs nearly all our lives. We don’t just see them as pets; they are family members who deserve all the comfort and attention we can give. We are currently the proud family of Pippie, and we both play an active role in her care. Since I work from home full-time, your dog will never be lonely. Pippie is the best of both worlds - she loves to play and hang out with other dogs, but she also loves to just relax and nap. We know how hard it is to leave your furry friend behind, which is why we’re committed to providing a trustworthy, safe, and loving environment. We’ll treat your dog exactly how we treat our own—with patience, care, and plenty of affection. Because I work from home full-time, I am here to provide constant supervision, mid-day potty breaks, and companionship. Our routine revolves around Pippie's needs—mornings start with playtime and breakfast, followed by several play sessions throughout the day to burn off energy, and she usually naps under my desk as I work. With my husband and daughter coming and going, there is a constant rotation of attention. Someone is always available to care for your pet. Your dog won't just be 'fitting in' to our schedule; they will be part of our family activities, from lounging in my office while I work to evening play in the yard. We treat our guests’ schedules—like specific feeding times or medication needs—with the same priority as our own. In our home, your dog is treated like a member of the family. We have a fully fenced-in backyard, which allows for safe, off-leash playtime. Our care routine is built on consistency and comfort: Feeding & Hydration: We stick to a twice-a-day feeding schedule (or whatever your specific routine requires), and fresh water is always available. Active Supervision: Since I work from home, I provide constant supervision. Your pet will never be left unattended in the yard. Affection: We are a 'cuddle-heavy' household! Whether it’s lounging nearby while I work or getting extra attention from my husband and daughter, your dog will be showered with love. Personalized Care: We understand every dog is different. Whether they need high-energy play in the yard or a quiet spot to nap, we adapt our day to meet their specific personality and needs.

I would appreciate the opportunity to take care of more animals. I am about to be fired from my full time job because covid got to me and I could not miss so many days so I am going to something that can cover some bills I will treat a client's home like a strangers house, even if the client is a friend I will be respectful to their house rules and to their expectations. Their animals will be treated carefully and safely.
About: I've always had and loved animals of all kinds. I am a veterinary technician and have been in the animal medical field for almost 10 years now. I currently work at a cat only clinic and I love kitties! I'm willing to care for animals other than cats and dogs. I'm capable and comfortable with administering medications. Let me know how I can help you and your fur babies! I work full time Mon-Thurs. I can check in on animals earlier in the morning and later in the afternoons those days but I am primarily available Fri-Sun. I am happy to clean litter boxes or clean up after dogs. About: I have been around and raised dogs since I was a little girl and I have always had a passion for animals. I work from home and can be with your dogs all day. I have a very large fenced-in yard with ample shading for outdoor play (part of my fence is temporary currently, but I always go out with the dogs). All dogs I care for will have the option to be both indoors and outdoors. I have taken numerous dog training classes and would be more than happy to follow any training rules you have set up. I have a Black Lab and a German Pyrenees who are both very social and love playing with other dogs. I would love to watch your dog and make sure they have a wonderful day of fun. I work from home Monday-Friday and can be there for your dog(s) all day long. I am also available on weekends. Your dogs will never be without supervision. I have a large fenced yard with plenty of shading (part of my fence is temporary currently, but I always go out with the dogs). My Pyrenees has epilepsy, so I am no stranger to giving medication or caring for dogs with disabilities.
About: I’ve owned and cared for animals my entire life — from dogs and cats to smaller pets like birds. Animals have always been a huge part of my world, and I can’t imagine life without them. I enjoy training my own dog and use positive reinforcement to help build trust and good habits. I’m comfortable working with pets of all ages, sizes, and personalities — from energetic puppies to calm seniors — and I always tailor care to meet their individual needs. I have a large, fully fenced backyard that’s perfect for safe outdoor play, exercise, and potty breaks. I’m also experienced with administering medication (oral, topical, or drops) and following special routines, feeding schedules, or dietary needs. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness are my top priorities. I treat every animal like family and make sure they get plenty of love, attention, and care — just like they would at home. I’m reliable, communicative, and always happy to send photo or video updates so you can feel at ease while you’re away. Hi! I’m Michelle — a lifelong animal lover who works from home, so I’m with my dog (and yours!) all day. I love spending time outdoors hiking, paddleboarding, and going on walks. I also attend dog training classes a few times a week, which helps me stay in tune with canine behavior and care. Your pets will get plenty of attention, love, and company while you’re away! Your pet’s safety and comfort are my highest priorities. I work from home full-time, so pets in my care are never left alone for long periods. My dog stays in my office with me during the day, and your dog is welcome to join us — or enjoy their own quiet space if they prefer. I take pride in being reliable, attentive, and respectful of every pet owner’s home and routine. I follow all care instructions closely to ensure consistency, safety, and peace of mind. My reputation and your trust mean a great deal to me, and I’m committed to providing the same level of care I would want for my own dog.
“Kristi was a great. We needed someone immediately due to a sick family member in the hospital and Kristi came over and loved on our pups in our absence. She was a great help!”

About: Dogs have always been incredibly important to me. I’ve spent years caring for pets for friends, family, and neighbors, ensuring they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. I’m patient, attentive, and mindful of each dog’s unique personality and needs. I work full time as direct care staff for 8 hours per day. If approved by the owner and if the dog’s temperament is a good fit, I am able to bring them with me so they are not alone for extended periods. Otherwise, I provide care before and after work and ensure plenty of attention, exercise, and consistency. I treat every client’s home with respect and care. I follow feeding, medication, and exercise instructions exactly as given and keep owners updated with regular messages and photos. I pay close attention to behavioral changes and communicate immediately if anything seems unusual. Your dog’s comfort, safety, and emotional well-being are my top priorities.

About: I've taken care of animals since I was 12, I have experience training, raising, and cleaning after cats, dogs and rabbits. Family and Friends have told me I am good with animals. I know how to play with, clean up after and feed dogs, cats and even rabbits. I am currently doing part time work at home, but have plenty of time to give love, watch, feed your pets at morning and night, clean after if any accidents happen and play with your pets. I have a fence yard, and another small dog, so your pets won't feel lonely but have plenty space to move around. Were super close to a park for safe walking, and playing. My home is small but fairly big enough and spacious. My room, and living room is big enough for around three to four animals to sleep in. I share some roommates. So they won't get too lonely and they are good people around animals, I don't leave the house unattended for too long. They can sleep on the floor or with in bed, or in there crate if needed, or preferred.
“Mads communicated with us throughout the stay, provides tons of pictures and videos and took extremely good care of our cats. She even watered our garden and yard and left some toys/treats for our cats. We would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a sitter and will definitely use her again.”

“Thank you, Ron and Monica, for taking wonderful care of our little Tiger girl. We cannot thank you enough for making sure she is secure, happy and well fed while we are out of town. And the fact that she is comfortable with you both--means so much to us. You are the best! :)”

“Ava did an excellent job while visiting and caring for my older dog, Jessie, this past weekend when I was away. Ava gave Jessie her prescribed meds with her meals and had great communication with me regarding Jessie's well-being and sending photos. I could see that Ava has a real passion caring for pets, and I wouldn't hesitate to call on Ava again to attend to my dog.”

Amy was so flexible and thoughtful with our first drop-in visit for Barbie. This was our first time leaving our rescue pup with a sitter and we felt totally comfortable and happy leaving her with Amy. I appreciated the photos and timely communication while we were out. We have a trip coming up and will absolutely have Amy stay with our girl while we are away. We are so grateful we found Amy here in Boise!

Followed all of my instructions to the letter and made my pups so happy whenever she came over. I especially love the fact that she gave me an update on what she did how they were and sent!! which mama doesn’t like photos? Would definitely tell other people about her, as I already have, and would use her again. Thank you, Tina❤️❤️❤️

Melissa was wonderful! She took such great care of our cat, and he was happy and calm when we returned. (Always a good sign!) She sent me pictures daily and let me know when something seemed a little off. So thankful to find a great pet sitter in this area. 😊

Sasha took great care of our fur babies. She kept in touch every visit, with pictures and news of how our kitty's were doing. She followed all the directions that were left and clarified when needed. She was on time for each visit, and left our home just as we left it. We felt very confident leaving our kitty's in her care. We will definitely use her again!

Melissa and Dane are absolutely AMAZING! They saved us when we had to go out of town on such short notice. They are very responsive, kind and loving towards our dog and even bought her a toy (so sweet). I promise you will not regret having them take care of your pets ☺️

Trenton takes amazing care of my Little Man Jax while I am away from home. I highly recommend Trenton! Jax loves him! This is the third time Trenton has cat sat for me and I love that I can leave home knowing that Trenton is going to take excellent care of Jax! 😻

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
